Congratulations! 🎉 It's great that you chose the OM, which has the same scale as a dreadnought. I think it's the best model in terms of volume and balance among Martin models.
Nice review... Warmer & tighter tone will age into the guitar. Record its tonality now & in 5 years time record it again with the same strings ( gauge, time since installed ) with as close to similar ambient environment as the 1st recording... You'll be zed @ how much wood changes even over a relatively short time span.. Good luck with it..
Like a boa shedding skin😢🎉😂❤ I videoed mine but I was standing up the whole time…had it set up so some paper work was missing bu5 my Martin GPC 3 yrs ago I had the old certificate of ownership but not filled out had not sent so even my last year’s D55 certification of ownership I haven’t sent…this om 28 like yours maybe my last(?)
I’m very close to buying the OM-28 as well. I played a OOO-18 today and it felt great but I want a Sitka/rosewood acoustic specifically for the tone. Am I the only one that prefers the other Martin hardshell case? The molded case looks to modern for this classic guitar.
Hello brother. I just wanted to say I hope you enjoy your new OM-28 as much as I have my 00-15.( I have skeletal degeneration), so I went with the smaller body. I’ve owned five Martin guitars and this one is my favorite. GREAT playing! But I don’t have to tell you that!
Hi, Ricky! Thank you for the kind message. I believe thats the mahogany martin with satin finish on top? This is my very first Martin I’ve ever owned and I only have good things to say about it. Thanks for watching! :)
Hey man, these OM28's are the best, i always thought i was short scale guy but after getting one(about a month before your video came out) i realized why all my fingerstyle guitar heroes played long scale. Great playing Sir!
I've played both the om28 and the omjm and if I remember correctly, the omjm sounded much fuller and louder. I know the neckjoint is one of the big differences. The OM-28 has a dovetail neckjoint and 1/4" scalloped "X" bracing, but the JM model has a simple dovetail w/ 5/16" modified "X" bracing.
@@disc_loading I came very close to buying the OM-28 last month. A Guitar Center employee offered me a 15% discount on one and I was filling out some financing documents for it and I luckily misremembered my social number and failed to pass. I went shopping around and got another dealer to give me 20% off an OMJM model (since the neck is more comfortable in my hands) and ended up buying it outright. Both are terrific guitars. Been window shopping for quite a while.
Is this the Martin OM-28 standard or a different OM edition from Martin? It’s beautiful and I’d like to get the same model. Is the neck the modified low oval and is it easy to play with thumb over the top sometimes, like Mayer? Thanks for a great video. Beautiful guitar!
Hi Bill! Thank you for watching and the kind comment. This is just the standard model and yes, I believe the neck IS the modified low oval, very very comfortable to play. (Not to flex haha) but I can play Neon very comfortably with no issues using my thumb over the top. Hope this answers your question!
Hi, Ryan! This may sound silly, but I noticed that a lot of singer/songwriters and I guess JM fans were buying the OMJM just because it’s a John Mayer signature and I am sure it’s one of the best OM body acoustic guitars out there, but I wanted to be different and get the OM-28 instead, haha. Thanks for watching my video!!
