This is an incorrect answer. Linoy won because there were new rules. Under the old rules, Dina would have easily won there.

@@СерхиоБускетс-ф7я That's an absurd argument. It wasn't old rules. They both knew the new rules, and choreographed their routines accordingly to those rules. It's like putting a swimmer against a tennis player in a tennis match, and saying if the match was held in the water then the swimmer would have won.

@@jamiewalker329 These were new rules. This time the points for technical elements were different. Now the program that the Averina sisters used always did not work as it should. That's why this happened. Some people think that this was done on purpose because the Olympic Committee was tired of the Russians always winning.

@@СерхиоБускетс-ф7я If they didn't adjust their routines in line with the new rules, then it's their fault. Saying there are new rules as an excuse is silly - there are new rules every few years. Neither competitors would have won based on Rio rules.

You HAVE to understand that for these athletes, that olympic medal is what you live for. The hours and hours of training is for this. Losing isn't allowed because your job is to win. It's not a fun hobby, it's pain and agony. But you go through with it because you are worth as much as the points you obtain. I'm from the figure skating world and am not very knowledgable of the culture and general state in this sport, but the last olympics, it was a mess. The girl who placed second (russian called trusova, lost to her then best friend sherbakova). The thing is, she skated as best as she could and genuinely believed that if she did her program the way she did it that day, that she would win by a mile. But she didn't and you can see her crying and screaming "I hate this, I hate everything, you all knew! I am never getting on the ice again" i cannot look at that and condemn her. I just feel for her and all the other girlies at that olympics. I am convinced that having to perform on that level is mental torture no matter what sport it is

It's not toxic, it's just the difference in their character. I prefer Arisha cause I understand not everyone is like her: thoughtful and calm in nature. Dina said she USED TO feel upset, but not now. I find Dina just more positive than her younger self because from being upset or jealous to being supportive is a process - A process of accepting, learning, and adjusting her emotions. Not just Dina, but also Arisha had to learn to accept and understand her sister's success and even her own feelings. They were all kids before adults so for both, the process is always difficult and it takes time. So it's actually nice now to see them be themselves and supportive of each other.

@@saltychoco Arina literally said Dina still doesn’t talk to her when she wins, how is that supportive? Just because Arina was forced to accept this behavior all her life and now normalizes it doesn’t mean she feels good with it…
