The weakened lizard could not be peeled because it moved in during the cold winter. Now all the lizards are healthy. They're doing well on their own. As you can see from the latest video, they are all healthy now. Instagram: / shinuk3377
Okay but that first one had it's eyes shut tight till he pet it then it was like 'oh are we done dad? ok thank' and like... my heart... Thank you for petting your babies after peeling them
Im not a vet but i have a diploma in animal management; if this many of his geckos are having troubles shedding, then something is wrong with the husbandry and set up. Secondly, if you want to help a leopard gecko get stuck shed off, you need to soak them and gently rub off the shed with a wet paper towel. Just peeling it off like that is very painful for the animal, and you can see that these geckos are experiencing a lot of discomfort.
Awww! They are so cute! Thought the peeling might hurt them, but they seem to really like it as they are all happy after getting the dead skin off of them. 🥰
The geckos aren’t housed correctly you at least want a tank with branches and other stuff just having them in bins isn’t how you take car or geckos please house them with a tank so they can be free to walk around
As the guy clearly said, his lizards could not get it off on their own. So he had to help. While I do not recommend it because yes, it can lead to serious health hazards, leaving it can cause worse damage. As for the mouth opening thing, I have no idea. Sometimes they eat their own skin so that could be it???
@@mink5714 I have a leopard gecko, and its better to do it with something wet first, so the skin comes off better. This guy's geckos had way too dry skin tbh--
@@LiyAxolotl Yea. He should have gave them a warm bath first. I hate how one of them even clearly showed that the skin was not ready to be peeled, it wasn’t fully foggy yet, and he picked at it and pulled it off. That had to hurt.
yes like this guy and most people in the replies of the comment, this is wrong and shouldn't be done, if you provide correct setup with shedding surfaces, you should never have to assist a shed, VERY RARE that you would need to, this is very messed up.
If you are going to do this , soak them in warm water and just pet them. It comes right off. For skin that is stuck in their eyes , use a wet q-tip and roll the opposite way than their eye and it will come out
It reminded me of whenever I'd get a sunburn when I was younger and it would start peeling, so I'd help it along. It felt so good to stop itching, and these guys look like they're saying tiny little thank yous 💖💖
they can’t get their shed off because there is literally nothing in their cages to rub it off with, it’s just a bin and wet paper towels. no wood no rocks, noting to rub themselves up against for the more difficult spots. seeing as the paper towel in their bins were soaking wet, I don’t know if humidity is the issue other than it potentially being too much which is another thing entirely
he soaked some of them to get full body shed off. and thats just how breeders set up their enclosures, they make it affordable, give them necessities, make it easy to clean, and easy to breed the animals with.
thats not very fresh that’s false lol most breeders use the bins like we see here because they ain’t stupid to waste massive amounts of money to get tanks and have a good set up
As primitive as these lizards are they clearly fully understand that they are being helped to shed. Just watch their little feet. No struggle, no movement. Total cooperation. That's amazing.
He's hurting his gecko and don't even know it, your never suppose to peel the shedding off because you can hurt and damage your lizards body.. This was definitely hard to watch.
@@unkownshoo1038 they do eat there shedding it has vitamins and nutrients in it, so it's very beneficial to them, but this gecko actions aren't normal. He should have mist him with a water bottle to soften the shedding.
False. Not removing stuck shed is what leads to issues such as lost blood circulation in limbs, tails, toes even their eyes lids and that leads to them losing parts of their body. Always remove STUCK SHED. Let them eat and remove all shed they can by themselves before attempting to assist.
I'm baffled by how only a few folks have commented on how inhumane the housing of these reptiles are. A plastic bin with a paper towel. How about that man lives in a cardboard box...
@@squirrel4343 yes, I have reptiles and 11 other pets and work in the animal welfare field. They look healthy but that's no way for animal to live even for a short period.
It is a temporary housing since the guy just moved into his new house/apartment when this was filmed so no geckos were harmed in the making of this video, I assure you lol.
