The 2019 World Table Tennis Championships touched down Budapest, Hungary from 21 to 28 April. It was a clean sweep for China as they won all 5 titles at the tournament. Liu Guoliang, president of CTTA, is satisfied with the result partially because he was the practice partner of Ma Long prior to the men's singles finals! He shared his thoughts on the Chinese national table tennis team (CNT) in a post-Championships interview.

What a wise man! Humble in victory and being realistic about the challenges faced by CNT. Love the way he motivated Ma Long (now I can see why Ma Long shouted "I am (of) made in China" at the end). Being talented is one thing, but having the work ethics and right mentality is equally important and LGL is the guy that brings all of those to the athletes. Also love the way they also take into account of the human factor and getting them overcome their disappointment as a priority. Rest of the world will unfortunately have a hard time compete with these guys for a long time! Btw, thanks for the video with sub. You have always been my go to source for quality videos like this 👍

近兩年中國嘅乒乓球隊沒有取勝把握最近好一點但係都係好困難早幾年中國嘅乒乓球隊橫掃世界輕而易舉咁樣全部包攬冠軍除咗其他國家嘅乒乓球隊進步最大原因就係前兩年中國改革乒乓球停頓咗進展所以贏得比較困難冇王者之風橫掃世界

Agree. But just judging on Liu Guoliang's word, the team would help Fan Zhendong to shake it off and prepare him for the upcoming competitions.

@@tabletennisfan_thepenholde2078 I know, I was so sad for him, I love Jingkun too, but I wanted this tournament to be Xiao Pang's He still has at least 4-5 WTTC singles event ahead of him though, I think he would get his hand on the trophy definitely one or more times

@@hillsideonly As far as I have read, a former Chinese national team coach said Fan Zhendong is excellent as an athlete but he has to make a step forward in terms of the understanding on / the way he interprets table tennis. Fan Zhendong used to be the one chasing behind the greats like Ma Long, Xu Xin and Zhang Jike but now he is world ranked no.1 and everyone in the world is trying to beat him. Perhaps, the disappointment at the Championships is a lesson to learn from or a small hiccup during the transition period from a talented hopeful to the best in the world for Fan Zhendong. I feel sorry for Fan Zhendong too but I would rather take it on a positive note.
