I imagined an ending where they are traveling and stop at an inn for the night. Then they over hear something and they look at each other, smile, quick kiss and then walk into the common area, ready to solve another case. That would have been a fun ending after this ending. Could have opened it up for an ongoing summer mystery series for several summers after it's release. Traveling around experiencing new things, solving mysteries and cases along the way.

At the last episode, more surprises are in store for the audience. What really surprised me is that the protagonists are not rewarded like typical dramas. At least, Qiu Yan and Liang Yi have each other at the end. That is their greatest reward. I really enjoy the show throughout its run. Great job!

The ending gave me shivers! That was really beautiful. I wish they had an embrace at the end, but we know they will be together forever. I like his new look! Wow, what a story. That was very good writing, acting, sets, costumes, sound, scenery. They can all be beyond proud of this story and series. Good luck to all who were involved in front of the camera and behind.

After thirty-four days/hours, I think the viewers should get a nice happy ending. This ending implies it, but it was social distancing to the max.

The mother took her life because of guilt & couldn’t face it anymore. Also, she didn’t wanna her son found out she was the one who killed her husband that would put several emotion burdens on her son.

I really dont want to watch movies which injure my heart spirit and soul. They try to deceive us in saying the Beauty lies in the Tragedy. But for me not !!! She also did not wanted to leave home, she was tired of everything, and her best best friend from Northern Tribes (more worth then family!) Noble consort took her life. Although her son then also was half from the Northerns. Well these days it was as normal to poison someone as like going shopping, even her sons father, who was the flesh and blood to her son. Terrible with the killing back then. She failed, the Northern Tribe had been more important then her own flesh and blood, her son. She was patriotic exaggerated, crazy, she was deceitful against her own pack, just like Quin Min was, thats deeply worth despise ! Quin Min tried to copy her stepsister from day one, thats why she couldnt develope her own strong character. The mother could have just been dead without a reason, That would have also been ok these days....This Qiun Qin must not write that lie down that she had poisoned her, she hurt him so much with this, instead of consoling him, she hurt him double, I despise her for that, even if he didnt believe her that. It is unlogical, that she pretend she poisoned her, she knew he would never believe. For sure I am feeling fooled by the authors or whoever made that movie script exactely. Well if I would be an actor I would NOT play such psychic ill script, even not for money success and glory !

@jammyreid6605 Yes an embrace is indeed something special. But the whole movie she was mostly distance almost to everyone, also to him. And he had patience until the end of an ocean. I think they have embraced each other after the camera was turned off..smile ;-) ❤ and they have also kissed each other!:-)❤

I enjoyed this! Poor Liang Yi getting emotionally smacked this whole show. Cute ending though but feels a bit rushed (as with all C-dramas lol) wished there was more cute scenes in the end besides just staring at each other haha

Ok so Chinese dramas have an ending problem. This show would have been the perfect show had some minor issues been cleared up. I am happy it ended with them in love and still together but I think the mother situation would have been more impactful had the writers set it up a bit earlier, meaning leaving clues for us to understand that she was the one who killed the father. maybe like 4 episodes ago we start receiving crumbs as that she was to blame. It just seemed like the writers forgot about it and then remembered on the last day and said stick 10 minutes of this plot in the end. Having watched the show I can understand why she did what she did but I think they should have shown us more how he came to understand that she would never kill his mom so yes I feel that plot was rushed but we still came to the desired outcome of them being together. This show was a dream show! the acting was fun. the relationship was believable. the blots were understandable and not incredulous. they were equals in their abilities to solve the cases. As I said in my earlier review the writers created a strong comical foundation with the beginning of the show. Kept us gripped with the middle portion and delivered a suspenseful ending even though they did have a minor blemish with the mother plot but all in all this was an excellent show to me. I am going to go out on a limb here and say if the drama has the word Ballad in it is going to be great cause this and The Long Ballad have been phenomenal

Well said. The writers wanted it to end on a bang with one final twist. But it was so forceful and unconvincing. Worse yet, why on earth would the FL think it was a good idea to leave the ML when he needed her most after losing his mother. On top of that, she also thought it was best to let him think the 2 most important people in his life - his mother and the woman he's deeply in love with - one killed the other and disappeared for good. Really??

I really loved this show but the ending was a little overcomplicated and I agree with you that they should have set this up sooner if they wanted it to be a thing maybe a little more about why she likes the queen so much. like some experiences they shared or something. bc if she is gonna kill her husband over the queen their bond better be hella special. lol. also I kind of didn't see why they had to kill song jin

Her loyalty to the Queen was more important than the husband she slept with and bore a son for. The mother was a despicable bit%ch who put on airs, while pretending to her son. She's worst than a fowl, who eats and then wipes it's 👄 in the grass. The biggest joke is that the son wanted seek revenge for his father. While all along he was sleeping with the killer aka his mother. That's metaphorically speaking 🔊

Qiu Yan is a much more forgiving person than I am, I never would have forgiven my biological mom for leaving me for dead back in her childhood. I hate that they turned Liang Yi's mother into a bad person and killed her off. :(

This is a beautifully written, impactful tale. The character development is wonderful causing us to both love and hate them at times. I loved the two main leads, their love story caused me to shed tears often, and binge through to the finale. I cried many times. The two leads find each other in the end through their own books and are lovingly reunited..how beautiful...he is smiling and relaxed with his long hair flowing down his back as he finds her. The ending is perfect. I give it a 10.

很好看的劇👍👍 但我必需要吐槽ㄧ下最後秋嫣留書說是她毒死槿夫人實在沒必要猜的出來劇情是想說秋嫣為了維護梁翊對母親的感情所以寧願讓他恨自己但這不過是一個交換從母親殺了父親變成愛人殺了母親哪裡有比較好啊？父親的死至少是過去式知道實情痛心母親絕情而且母親若已自殺更是一個句點也會因爲失去母親而傷心大於恨意而如果愛人殺了母親母親的死完全是被害而且是因為自己才被牽連連自己都要恨進去了如果最後又能原諒試問原諒屈於權勢的母親容易還是原諒牽怒的愛人容易？這段太奇怪了可憐的梁翊一下子失去父母愛人工作至友這還怎麼活啊？太悲屈了邏輯跟前面辦案對不上似乎是為了創造出一個兩人再度相見而硬塞的段

Spoilers ahead so proceed at your own risk. Man this drama had so much potential but all the unnecessary deaths, weird character developments and revelations towards the end got me like 🤨 this drama deserved a better end than that. I totally get she wants to see the world and it's actually pretty cool but dang after life and death with this wonderful human who supported and risked everything for you, you still going to leave him at his lowest?! Then a time after that he finds her and they smile like nothings changed? Doesn't really make sense honestly. Still I enjoyed the ride and the two leads made this drama worthwhile.

I truly enjoyed this drama but was a little disappointed with the ending. Had the writers let the ML and the FL go on their much wished for world travels, then there could have been an opening for a Season 2. This was a really good drama and I believe a season 2 would have been well received by the fans. I am glad that the writers brought the couple back together at the very end, but there could have been a much more impactful ending. Thank you for the English subbers!

Also disappointed in the ending. Leaves a bad taste after all the anticipation. The bad guy gets to be a minister despite framing the FL's father and the ML loses his mother, his title, his rank and he did all the work in the reforms coming. At least he got the girl in the end.

I feel bad for Liang Li He deserved better. Plus, I am just going to pretend that this series ended at 20:08 and they all journeyed together after that scene. Nevertheless, this was a very great drama with an amazing plot, casts, beautiful OST, great cinematography. I enjoyed every bit of the story and didn't feel bored at all

The ending is very subtle. When he finds her, he is hesitant, not sure about their relationship. When he shows the bracelet, he isn't smiling but wondering what she thinks. As she shows her bracelet and smiles, he nods and smiles back. Then she points to his book and offers a bigger smile.

I love the drama and everything went well but the twist I did not like it at the end. This drama I enjoyed the most and never missed any episode. I give 10 stars for the actors and actresses. Excellent performance. Keep it up 👍👍👍👍👍

Really beautiful. I love it. Good job! I love actors and their acting. I was suprised how they turn out almost in the end of scene and how tense it was. I was a bit worry that story will end too tragically but it not disappointed me after all. The end was perfect. I just was thinking in my mind that show those handcuffs and they did! No more needed to show because they had each other in the end and somehow they did never broke up although they lived far away from each other. Handcuffs is a proof of that. I am happy that those characters ended up together. Problem solved. And let rest of the story be in imagination.

FL's mother is really pretty! The ending could have more sentimental where both of them are hugging each other after a separation. Overall, nice drama and would like to rewatch it. This drama was a distraction from having to think and miss Godfrey Gao in "Remembering Li Chuan" 💔 As always, thanks Tencent for the English subtitles for international fans. 🥰

This story was really good and the actors are so wonderful. This drama had me on the edge but at the end I just was disappointed, the writers could have make it much better than it was but overall it was great. Hope to see more of the actors together again in another drama.

Magnifico dramma, veramente bello, gli attori protagonisti erano meravigliosi avevano una chimica pazzesca praticamente si solo innamorati subito, avrei preferito un finale più completo bastava una scena in più almeno un abbraccio e un bacio. Ma bravissimi tutti, divertente, commovente un po' tutti i sentimenti, grazie infinite per la traduzione in italiano.

Oh come on! TF was this ending?! Really? How can you fuck up the ending like that? ML lost his father, friend, mother, quits his job so he can be with you, and you leave him a letter saying you killed his mother Because of revenge and walk away and let him be? Real smooth. And then years after the shit you pulled through you just smile at the sight of him and everything is great. Rainbows and sunset and shit. 😤👎 Not cool writers, not cool.
