On June 25th 2022, the rack railway car 1003 left the Filderstrasse depot for its last journey: At the upper terminus, a truck was already waiting to take it to the Stuttgart tram museum.
1003, being the third and last car of the ZT4 class, was delivered on October 23rd 1982. Shortly thereafter, the ZT4s took over the entire service on Stuttgart's rack railway line, a.k.a. "Zacke". They shaped the Stuttgart cityscape for 40 years, before the delivery of the successor, the ZT4.2 class, marked the beginning of the end for the three ZT4 cars.
Car 1003, also known as "Helene", was brought to the Stuttgart tram museum. This video documents both the history of the car and the transport process.
