To think that chosing Gambhir is chosing the most famous cricketer is bit naive. And probably exactly opposite to the situation. He is chosen regardless of his reputation. What do you need in a transitioning team? Probably a strong leader to guide the inexperienced players. He fits the bill.

Stokes is not a very good bowling captain. Has tendency to keep bowlers going on for long. Did this with spinners in India who would keep on leaking runs and underbowled pacers who were being out bowled by indian pacers. Very quick to go on short pitch bowling plans when pitch is slightly flat.
