Grate video once agine I was told as a rule if u had a Unskim head and undecked block and got them both skimmed and decked what ever is remove add that to the thickness of a standed gaskit and that way your know what gaskit thickness your need

Yeah if your machinest can tell you exactly what was removed it helps. But you're making the assumption that its brand new parts so unless you know it's a brand new unopened engine it could catch you out. A lot of people are buying second hand engines or heads so you never know whether you actually started with factory stuff. This particular one had a lot of skimming to take out detonation marks. Additionally in this case were changing to new pistons and rods and it's been seen before where they're made wrong and stick out more than they should. If you're putting a head back on an old bottom end then no worries.

I have an overheated engine which mixed water and oil, milky color. The milky fluid was found in cylinder head chamber, the oil pockets of block and oil cooler/filter but not in the water pipes and water reservoir. The head gasket burned up and loose were it was burned as you had stated in the video, similar. There was burn mark in between the cylinders. I try skimming the cylinder Head but ran for few minutes until the engine overheated and mixed again. Should I also skim the block since the is a burn marks? It's bmw e90 n46 engine. First it used to burn we water fast. I needed to add water everyday and after each and every long trip.

You need to determine that the block is or is not flat then take it to a machinist to be corrected if required.

Really want you guys to forge my astra h vxr I'm only looking to add steel rods to engine is this something you would do without rebuilding the whole engine or if you had to rebuild whole engine what sort of price would I be looking at

It's not worth doing it just to ignore loads of potential wear and warn out parts. We don't get involved with rod jobs as its cheap for a reason.. You'd get away with it 10 years ago when they were new but now the cylinders are likely out of shape and its just gonna cost a tone of power.

while you do all that, this ain't a 'one night' job.. what do you do to prevent surface rust / flash rust from forming on all the different parts of the engine ?
@tunedbyrabbid

Yes if you're stopping for the day dust a light covering of oil over surfaces that can rust then wrap up the parts in something like shrink wrap.
