Engine Motor Mount Replacement

I am happy to see this. I diagnosed the problem by watching eric the car guys video on diagnosing suspension noises...noticed...hmmmm. That's what my car is doing and I already knew my engine mount seemed to need replacing but didn't know that was the cause of the metal on metal action in my front end. With this video I will save a ton of money. THANKS!!

to lift the engine you will need a jack and a block of wood. put the wood (2x4 or 2x6 is sufficient) on top of the jack lift. Jack up the jack with the wood on top under the oil pan. The reason you use the wood is to disperse the weight so that the jack doesn't puncture the oil pan. You don't have to lift it up much at all. Just enough to take the weight/pressure off of the motor mounts.

May I make a suggestion? While RU-vid is great for having a lot of these 'how to' videos, it gets VERY frustrating when you need something specific, and all these videos have generic titles. Since so many vehicles are different year to year, and model to model, even within the same manufacturer, "How to replace a Motor Mount or Transmission Mount" really doesn't tell me anything. "Replacing a motor/transmission mount, Ford/GM/Toyota?Hyundai, etc 02-09" would tell us everything we need. I have a 1997 Cadillac Eldorado, which is specifically what I searched for, so why am i here? Because there's a whole list with the same generic title you used, and I have to look through every one of them to find what I need. Thanks.

Just finished replacing the passenger side engine mount on a Honda 2000 Odyssey. A few observations. If a mount is severely damaged things are not going to exactly line up when you reassemble. My mount was completely blown. The video shows the removal of the aluminum bracket piece from the engine. This is certainly easier than trying to move the mount around that piece. Before you remove a piece other than the mount look to see if that piece is adjustable. My bracket had elongated holes that the bolts passed through to the engine block. (You can verify if yours is elongated by loosening and removing only one bolt. The other bolt will maintain the orientation of the bracket to the engine.) I looked closely and notice a slight skew of the bracket relative to the engine. I used a knife blade to scribe the angle before I removed it and the engine mount. Reassembly: I slide the mount into the bracket but did not insert the bolt through mount when I re-installed them First, I aligned the bracket to the scribe mark and tightened securely. Secondly, I had to pull on the engine to get the first hole lined up while someone else inserted the bolt and tightened finger tight. Next, I pushed, pulled, and pried to get the others lined up and inserted the bolts. I inserted and tightened the through bolt then I then lowered the jack, letting the engine rest on the mount and tightened the mount bolts securely. Good luck

hey, thanks for the video, your acura tl is exactly like inside my honda accord. did you have to jack up the engine? if so how far up would i have to jack up and preparations do i need to do including tools before the replacement?

Do you know what size bolts those are? I'm thinking I might go grab a gear wrench - especially to get that front-facing bolt on the front mount, and the third bolt on the side of the passenger side motor mount. Looks like you had some difficulty with those!

You do not need to remove engine bracket for mount to unbolt and remove. Also remove that power steering reservoir (red cap). It slides upwards (it is not bolted by factory) and put it aside making space for that front bolt to be removed. You just need three bolts to remove (center one on top included and no bolts from bracket to the engine). the whole work should take 20-30 minutes per mount. It took me 13 hours on Mazda miata due to tight spaces and assembly required under steering shaft.

for the front mount your gonna have to remove radiator fans, panel underneath car, and loosen side passenger mount bolts for engine to move up and down with jack. also a few other minor stuff. there is a pretty accurate post on acurazine for the front mount.

What is the part called or part number for the bracket on 4:24. The bolts hold together two brackets. One bracket is sitting on another. I wanted to know the part number for the bottom bracket?

I would check the side one on your own if that looks good then gold off on replacing them. The mount in the back is really difficult to get to and will cost you good amount of money

01 Pontiac Grand Prix. What is a decent motor mount that won't break the bank? Everybody on the internet is saying that anchor and DEA are junk. I am not looking to spend $80 at the general motors dealership. I am not real hard on my car will a anchor or DEA Mount be good enough for me?

Yeah my friend found one on ebay for for 60. but i dont know about it considering its made in taiwan or something. So im debating buying it, dont want to spend 60 and have it break

changing my side mount in 2-3 days hope it didnt fuck up my front mount while the side was busted.. and caused extra stressed on the front. fingers cross*

Verbally explain and show each part and explain...... What car are you working on..... Year...Engine size and description so dummies can understand.

did you install the OEM or the aftermarket?? I seen on ebay the set of 3 are 127 that buying the OEM all together like 300

i dont even think taking this mount off would require support because it has other mounts and its still laying on the frame but im not 100% sure.

hello, where are the motor mounts located in a 2002 Audi a6 and are they difficult to replace yourself without taking it to a repair shop?

If the bolt breaks in there how would you get it out?

The damn front motor mount isnt even listed by acura. All they have in their database is front- left, rear, and tranny mount. I had to go look at a diagram of the engine to find the part number. And it turns out to be about 200 dollars. Looks like im stuck with less torque.

I replaced 4 out of 5 engine mounts on my 2004 Honda Odyssey, this is not a job for an amateur! My passenger front mount is now misaligned, and my power steering is noisy and leaking thru the top of the reservoir. I still have replace the rear engine mount, since I already hosed up the front passenger side one. Yes, easy to remove mounts, but don't kid yourself with out the proper support, the motor will move and misalign, and good luck with that. Now my car is in the shop being assessed. This video is misleading, don't try it unless you work in a shop.

I have a 2006 Acura TL (automatic) does anyone know if the rear motor mount has a vacuum hose or not
