5W-30 Full Synthetic Oil, & other items I use in this video available on my Amazon affiliate Storefront here: www.amazon.com/shop/striker50/list/1YSBBWCHD57C1?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_aipsflist_aipsfstriker50_NS5YQ8TJ8RHD06CS31K0
that oil actually looks fairly clean as it was coming out. also there is no guesswork when tightening the oil filter housing, you just turn it until it stops.
Yup! I'm in the process of changing the oil from conventional to synthetic so it's being changed sooner rather than later. True but Keep in mind everyone has different strength levels so some people think it stopped turning when they can turn it a bit more and some people can maybe over torque it
Perfect. Thanks for explaining why you didn’t use that pre drain feature. I agree. Have you considered filling the filter cup before reinstalling? I can’t see it mattering much but some people swear by it.
Yes, I used it previously, but it is a bit of a challenge to open the pre drain, and makes no difference since I am going to remove the filter cup in a controlled manner anyway. Yes, in all of my other car videos I do prime the filter (pre-fill with some oil). I didn't for this one because this filter doesn't come like the other ones that have their own housing. In hindsight I could fill the cup halfway like a normal filter but it threw me off. Yup, it's probably 4 ounces of oil at best, so I can't see it making a tremendous difference, but in the RU-vid world it has to be by the book
Thanks! Yes, they're on the pricier end but I do love how light they are (about 3 lbs) and will last decades. I did get them for about $135 at Walmart years ago but they have gotten pricier. As long as you're using jack stands (not a floor jack) and wheel chocks, you'll be good
Nice video you got!. I changed my vehicle (es 350 2009) Top gasket due to over heating. After the top gasket burn. I replaced it and changed the radiator to double face and changed the water pump. I further replaced the AC compressor. Is there any other advice you have for me? For now the car is very stable and I'm always watching the temperature. I don't have money to get another one for now. Your advice is strongly recommended. Thank you sir
The crush washer on mine is stuck to the oil pan pretty good. Have tried removing it with a small screwdriver and all, but no luck. Any suggestions? Also, the Fram Ultra is an excellent choice - what I'm using as well.
Try using some sort of plastic card, and tap it with a hammer where it's wedged between the washer and the pan. Try not to use metal screwdrivers because you don't want to dent the pan, and it could leak in the future. Perhaps a flathead is a good option if you're careful with it Maybe also hitting it with a little bit of degreaser will help just make sure to cover the open hole
@@Striker50_ It wouldn’t budge no matter what I tried, but it came off with the oil drain pan bolt during the last oil change. Was pleasantly surprised, but glad it came off.
Thinking about fine Lexus ES 250 and I need to know if there’s a possible way for me to know if the water pump is bad and the timing belt cover leak concerning with the problems that this particular vehicle has would need to know how to diagnose these problems before I buy. Thank you.
Strongly recommend finding a mechanic in your area to inspect the vehicle you're going to purchase. They usually charge $150-$300 but it's WELL worth it because they can catch all kinds of things we're unaware of
A full synthetic is going to provide more additives and more protection. It never hurts to go with the higher quality. For example, we have the LML 2016 diesel Silverado and it asks for certain oil but since then oil quality has increased so the newer stuff is better
I have them linked on my Amazon storefront can't remember the exact model but they are listed exactly on there. That's investment I've made for my car easily
@@Striker50_ Thank you so much,, this is super informative. Once its time to change my oil filter im going to do it myself. My first time working on a car.
Issue with this type of drain on ramp is that it does not train full some dirty oil last part is left which contains some debre. So I use jack and lower it to drain full. Rest of video is good
Don't rely on factory recommendations. Remember, they want to sell you another car. I use best oil and change twice a year and our mileage never comes close. Change the ATF at 70k miles and watch videos to find out how. Other fluids too if you want 300k miles off your car.
Interesting. And that's the 12 MM with the inner diameter? Crush washers sometimes have 2 measurements. Sometimes they list them as the outer diameter measurement, and sometimes the inner dimension. Did you use the ones linked in the description, or another kind?
I just checked on Amazon for this Lexus again and I also got the notice that it doesn't fit but should be good. Can always compare to the one you're taking off for peace of mind @@stillhere7193
@@Striker50_ Not sure what’s wrong with it but I know that the car when you drive sounds extremely loud not sure if it’s the wheel bearing’s & tire rods but it’s just very loud. Irregular RPMs as well it has roughly 265,000 miles on it not sure if the transmission fluid was changed each 30k - 60k miles but all I know is it needs some serious work to it before it starts to drive smoothly again. Engine light has been on every since I got the car.
