On 17th December, 1944, the ten man crew of the Tulsamerican took off from Torretta, Italy, to bomb the oil refinery at Odertal, near the Polish/German border. After being intercepted by Luftwaffe fighters, the Tulsamerican was forced into a desperate fight for survival.
