England 1-1 Italy
Luke Shaw (2') Bonucci (67')
Italy win 3-2 on Penalties

As Italian, I can understand your tears. I saw Italy lose in the USA 94, Euro 2000 and Euro 2012 finals. It’s painful. But to win an International Competition, you have first to learn how to lose. In its history, England made just two finals. Italy played finals in 1934, 1938, 1968, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2000, 2006, 2012, 2021. We have much more experience in playing finals. Take this as an opportunity to understand England’s growth in soccer, rather than concentrate yourself on loss. And let me say this is the first video in which I sympathized with England fans. They all looked arrogant, presumptuous and too sure to win. You and your dad were sincere and respectful. You’ll both see England winning, that’s for sure. Cheers from Italy

Because of covid I didn't have the chance to get back home this year and I miss my family a lot. Well. To make it short it made me feel emotional watching you and your dad so united. My laptop was frozen the moment of the last penalties and my dad called me from Filottrano telling me that we had won the tournament. But to be honest. I would trade the victory for watching it with him at Wembley. Family first. You are lucky having it close. Me and my dad cried together for football since the final in 1994. I am Italian too. I’ve lived the same bitter experiences at least three times: Semifinal WC 1990 (in Italy!) against Argentina (lost on penalties); Final WC 1994 (USA) against Brazil (lost on penalties); Final Euro 2000 (France) against France (lost at ET with a golden goal) Plus we lost the Euro 2012 against Spain 0-4 (actually playing in 10 for a big part of the match) So… I understand your delusion, but the important is to stay constantly at top, and for sure Fortune will come. You have a solid team with some young talented players. I think that Southgate in some way didn’t make the right strategic moves during the match. As soon as Mancini replaced Immobile, he too had to change strategy very fast Ciao

I'm a Dane living in England. I was both at the semifinal and final. After/during the semifinal, I got very disappointed at the England fans. They were extremely disrespectful, were spitting at Danish children, booing our national anthem, trying to start fights etc. After the game I got countless of death threats because of my Denmark shirt. During the final, the behaviour of people were even more crazy. It makes me very happy to see videos like this, this is how England fans should behave. Be passionate but respectful. When England lost, I was very disappointed to see that most England fans immediately left instead of staying and thanking their team. The Danish fans remained after they lost. So it makes me happy to see that you guys stayed for your team, even after losing. You guys give me more hope about England fans, after my bad experiences at the semifinal. I wish you luck at the World Cup next year. Ps. I am still a bit bitter over England winning due to Stirling's dive. England deserved to win by scoring in one of their many chances, not by cheating like that.

I feel sorry for the fair and decent England fans like you and your dad. Thank you for reminding us England fans are not all “like that”. You’re right that Italy’s play tends to be one-dimensional. Luis Enrique understood it and he caught Italy off guard with his falso nueve tactics. Southgate tried to copy LE but England is not Spain. They’re a much more defensive team and they’re far from having Spain’s ball possession. It worked with the first goal, but they parked the bus after 20 minutes and Italy had the time to slowly recover from shock and move on to plan B. Underestimating Italy’s resilience was one of Southgate’s biggest mistakes. Not only in football Italian resilience is legendary and Southgate, as a former footballer himself, should have known better. Again on Italy being one-dimensional. Consider that Mancini had to make do with what he had. Several first choices of his had to stay home because they were injured, like Zaniolo, Sensi or Pellegrini. Verratti wasn’t 100 percent and we lost Spinazzola along the way. I think it would have been an entirely different match with Spina on the pitch. Some of the players in this side were literally “subs of the subs”, like Pessina (Who did very well, for the record). Finally, what was Southgate thinking when he sent to kick the fifth and decisive pen a 19-year old who had never kicked a pen in a major competition before? The algorithm? Seriously?

I am Italian and no Italian before a football match has ever thought of being sure to win, you English have loaded the match with too much tension, in Italy there is a proverb that says: "Never sell the skin of the bear if you haven't caught him first. "Honor to the three English boys who took the great responsibility of taking penalties. You played against the Italian national team, Winston Churchill once said: Italians go to war as if it were a football match and in a football match as if it were a war, he was right four World Cups won, two World Cups lost (1970/1994) and two European championships are proof of this. On RU-vid there are dozens of videos like this showing decent lads, like Sam and his dad, supporting England with passion but in a “healthy way” and fair towards the opponents. Therefore I believe these are the majority of English fans, whose reputation is spoiled by a loud and blatant bunch of morons. Best of luck for the next major tournaments! Love from Italy.

Love this video. A true England supporter. This is what we should all be like. I love your respect for the opponent, and how you shut down the negativity being shed on our players. Thank you for condemning the racism and abuse. This is what England should be all about. See you in Qatar

Loved your video, appreciated you showed the ceremony ’til the end from inside the stadium, didn’t have the chance to see it from that angle. I am Italian and I was initially gloating, so much so that I kept watching reactions videos like yours on RU-vid, until oddly I started feeling for the heartbreak of the English fans, it’s a really odd feeling I wasn’t expecting. Of course in the beginning I was very annoyed by the “it’s coming home” arrogance, but listening to the people I understood it was mostly an optimistic expectation given they were playing home and pretty well throughout the tournament. In any case the more I watch side by side reactions during the the game and especially the penalties shootout, the more I am convinced humans are a very very funny species. 😂😂😂 Cheers!

Hello. I'm Italian and I translate these words with Google translator, because I'm not good at languages. 😅 I just wanted to tell you that I'm sorry for you and your father, because you have been sports people. I don't feel sorry for the other England fans, the ones called hooligans, who don't know what honesty and sportsmanship are, especially because they are violent and arrogant. I don't even feel sorry for the England players, because they took off their second place medals, because Sterling faked fouls and because they went straight into the locker room, without attending the award ceremony, like so many other fans. I think it's shameful. But when I see fans like you and your father, I think there is still hope for better fans. Congratulations on your sportsmanship. Hugs from Italy

To me was a very brilliant mach not because we win but because it was intense and very enjoyable. Maldini change the players straight away and manage to go true, instead England couch wait far too long for make some changes..( in my modest opinion) I love Maguire, Rice, humble playear I think they have the right approach to foodball, No one is perfect we aren't either , I am sure next year England will have good results they young and ready. Thanks for your honest opinion and for stay and watch the italian celebrations!! This is what i call a real England fan🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿respect mate and hug to your lovely dad from Italy 🇮🇹

I only got to see your video now, and I want to tell you that you and your dad ... are really two beautiful people! Because compared to so many other English fans, you have not insulted us...maintaining a composure, and a decorum ... until the end of the game. With that very nice final hug! Congratulations ... as for the game, after your lightning-fast advantage, our boys have not collapsed psychologically, and have slowly, slowly, taken the reins of the game. Going to the penalties ... tooth and nail. Winning the trophy for just one scart penalty ! Thanks to my fellow countryman Donnarumma! Who started saving on a pitch near my house in Castellammare di Stabia a few years ago! For the rest, great video congratulations 👍

@@longobardialfonso8376 World Cup is pretty tough, as numerous peoples said. Brazil were heavy favourites to win. There's no opponents who stop good players (Neymar, Alisson, Firmino, etc) other than Argentina or France. They even reach two successive Copa America Finals beforehand.

Thanks for sharing. The two Italian songs we can hear are sung for a particular reason: the first one is sung by Raffaella Carrà, a famous Italian singer who died at the end of June, so it was in her honour; the second one, 'Un'estate italiana', was the sound track of the World Cup 1990 held in Italy, and the Italian football team has taken it back to celebrate its victories. It says: 'Magic nights, pursuing a goal, under the sky of an Italian summer...'. The Italian Football Association asked Uefa to sing them in case of victory.

I was born and bred in Rome but moved to London a few years ago and I now have double citizenship. Despite that I was never going to sit on the fence for this match. It was always going to be Italy. If anything, it meant even more to me that we won, probably more than the 2 WC I have had the luck to see Italy win in my lifetime. It also brings me immense joy to know that this would have really hurt all those uncivilised "English fans" who booed our anthem, stepped and spit on our flag, got drunk and started fights in and around the stadium and behaved like total idiots. Probably the same people who then went home and started abusing those three young and brave lads who missed the penalty. But then, there is also one part of me who feels compassion and sad for people like yourself, because it is pretty obvious that both you and your father are really decent people, fair supporters, with a big heart and very gracious in defeat. And it is thanks to people like yourself that I am now able to gloss over the behaviour of those unpleasant individuals and be proud to call myself British as well as Italian. Keep your heads up, those England players have done you proud 🇮🇹🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧

"We've been way too defensive" English fans only focus on what their team is doing. Can you fathom that Italy completely took over at the start of the second half? Italy played much better and deserved the victory. England only had one shot on target and couldn't assume possession. The better and more deserving team won Euro 2020. Congrats to both teams for a great tournament.
