Martha Teichner visits the Royal School of Needlework at Hampton Court Palace, which is considered the best in the world at its craft, specializing in hand embroidery.
This was my dream school for many years. I’m in my 50s now ,and my eyes aren’t what they used to be. I still embroider a bit. Embroidery has always been a great passion for me. Thank you for this treat.
I LOVE THIS. But wasn't it Queen Mary who also was a very active patron of the school? I enjoy thinking of any ladies working on their projects, maybe just for their own homes, and those treasures being passed from generation to generation, those are so much more meaningful than anything money can buy.
craft? maybe industry and certainly better than machines can do, this artform certainly had its day we're also convinced the handling of its potential has limited its acceptance into contemporary practical use thankyou Lady Victoria Welby and Queen Mary for your insite into a very important matter regarding human evolution and machine made oriented societies
