That Graeme Fowler was allowed to continue batting after the blow he took to the head ducking in to a bouncer from Winston Davis is shocking by towards standards. It was a brave decision by him, but one he should never have been allowed to take.

He played his entire test career with a broken neck from a car crash years earlier. He only found out it was broken after the 84/85 tour of India.

Gower’s dismissal in the first innings just says it all. A clumsy waft at a ball he just have should not have been playing.
