Clearly a red card. There is no way that that isn't intentional. It's not "inexperience", if it's done with intent. The fact that she did it subtly and tried to get away with it makes it look more like she is very experienced.

Shouldn't have stepped on her, but she was clearly clipped so she couldn't continue to the ball. She throws up her hands in frustration with the refs...then steps on her opponent in retaliation. Bad form all around though.
After the Nigerian player fouled here and got away with it, she reacted impulsively and not in a subtle manner. She acted with a hot head, unfortunately.
She was frustrated during the whole match because they were zoning her hard and focused like 2-3 players just on her all the time. That look at the end is just her giving up

These commentators were terrible. Could hear them screaming and thumping the desk in the background everytime England scored a penalty, supposed to be impartial and professional.

Exactly didn’t even check on the Nigerian player to see how she’s doing or apologize. She was just going to play like nothing. So for her to apologize now it’s not sincere she did it because they made her. Sincere would have been the minute she did it red card or not!
Black people are naturally aggressive and that's an important reason for their success in sports. To be fair to Lauren and her kinsfolk, the red card should be given only after a third yellow card offence.
There are NO excuses for this sort of thing, including "inexperience" where professionals, who know the rules of the game perfectly well, are concerned. Sadly, such petulance is not uncommon and managers are consistently reluctant to openly condemn it or take action themselves. Good as she is, it is a team sport and, hopefully, the team that wins through will not be one dependent on one or two players.

She did this on consecutive free kick clearances in the offensive zone. There is zero excuse for her. Zero.
All the media had been tripping over themselves to brand James as the superstar of the team, a counter to all the criticism that the lionesses were not diverse enough. But with that kind of hype comes responsibility. She has let a lot of people down, not just herself.
james is clearly immature & not up to pare to be a starter. After this she shouldn't be called up for a while if ever she's clearly not ready. It's ironic though how quiet the media is about it if this was anyone else on the England team the field day the media would be having & the England press calling for punishment & what not. Commentators were vere biased on this. They simply looked at it like nothing happened. But if it was the Nigerian player who did that, all hell would have broken loose. SHAME on them both commentators.

It's the ref's fault. Alozie fouled James right in front of the ref - clear infringement and possible yellow card for a tactical foul - but the ref failed to spot it. Had she blown for the foul, this would never have happened. That doesn't mean James should get away with treading on another player as revenge for the foul, but some players will start to retaliate if the ref isn't protecting them properly.
Stop saying its inexperience that made her do that Last i checked shes had 21 years of experience standing up from laying down and being able to put her feet where she wants them to be, That was on purpose

The "poor Nigeria lady" is in fact an American who had just committed a sneaky tactical foul on James. Alozie was born and raised in California and has lived in the US her entire life, except for a three month stint playing league football in Kazakhstan. And in this instance she deliberately hauled James down with her arm to stop James getting to a loose ball in a dangerous area, and got away with it, because the ref was incompetent.
