English Bulldog Training - June 3 years old
Hello, this is June. June is a 3 year old English Bulldog. She visited us for our board and train dog residency program. program.
As mentioned above, June is a little over 3 years old. She is very sweet and affectionate; but she is also Dominant (in a passive way/not aggressive) and Stubborn. As owners, we have to motivate her in a consistent, positive manner so that she wants to learn. Providing a consequence in itself is not sufficient. Embracing motivation (praise and consequence) as discussed in my videos is critical to get our dog to do what we want. I cannot emphasize how important your positive state of mind and determination is with a dog like her.
In our dog residency training program here in Winston-Salem, we practice on leash obedience with verbal and hand signals. We work both inside and out. And we try to meld our clients into real life training. Our clients' dogs are with me with my pack. They are with me when I am in the office, watching television or reading a book. They are with my family and guests. By doing this they are getting a degree of real life training not available in most board and train programs. We address bad behaviors and encourage/reward good ones.
Our owners will then come out and begin to learn what we have taught. We teach the theory of pack leadership and help them adapt to what they want out of their dog. They have to become thleader and understand how to balance motivation - praise and consequence. If needed, follow-ups will be provided here at no additional charge for the life of the dog.
As happy as June is, I guarantee she will be even happier having boundaries established by her family. Why? Because she will know where she fits in her pack. All dogs need boundaries and structure from a consistent leader.
