Lol I feel bad that I had to look it up. I've never used either since I didn't know enough about it (and didn't need to). But I figured I should probably know at least a little about it, just in case. Don't wanna make a future blunder or miss out on potentially useful features. I recently started trying to fill in any knowledge gaps on things that I've been using forever. To avoid instances of, "How don't you know ______? You use [program/site] like every day.] So far, I've probably improved my overall efficiency by at least 10%.

Exactly Roxanne! With anyone you put in the main To: bar, it means you are writing to them directly, so any calls for action you include etc. are directed at both of them.

thats actually a good question. will the recipients of your email be able to see each other or not?

if you put multiple people in the To, they will all be able to see who else you sent the email to. On the other hand if you put one person in To and all the others in BCC, none of them will be able to see who you sent it to but they will all see the same message.

As Blue Lantern explained, it is not the same thing thing Boekie. Firstly, everyone in To: can see everyone else, whereas no-one can see the address in BCc except for the person it is sent to. Secondly, the etiquette is, if you include people in To: then it means you are writing directly to and including all of them, and all of them are expected to react/reply/take action as appropriate. If you Cc: someone it means you have included them for information purposes but they are not necessarily expected to reply. If you BCc: them then only they know that they have been included - it's a secret, so they would not reply to other people in the email, but they might reply to you privately.

Hi Kyzer, if you put someone's address in the BCc field, it means that they can also see the email, but none of the other people you have sent it to (the people in To: or Cc:) know that they can see it. Their name is not visible. So you can use it if you want to secretly share the conversation with someone, or as Rosa mentions, if you are writing to a big long list of people, but you don't want to share all their addresses with everyone else.

Hi Milton, yes you can say both of those. The actual spelling is not completely fixed yet, with some people writing 'cced' as you have, and others write cc'd, as we have in this video. Oxford Dictionary favour the cc'd version. en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/cc If you prefer, you can use a phrasal verb instead, 'copy in' - 'I've copied you in', 'please copy me in', but really 'cc' is probably more common these days.
