This is the third video on our Scottish tour. Whilst on the Isle of Mull we received a comment that made us question if we were actually welcome or if we should go home.
Im in thr highlands too. Its not isolated. Because of highland history of the english robbing pillaging destroying the hifhlands stealing land snd unaliving highlanders. Many highlandees shun english. ive seen it and heard it. But also non highlander born scots like myself also get shunned by highlanders. Up in the highlands many english move here and the ones i know actually only socialise with other english. Ive seen this on other countrirs too english only socislisong with english. The 6 english homes out of 13 occupied housrles in my hamlet . The englishv only are friends with other english here.
Guys, you and your gorgeous wee doggies are more than welcome. You are being super respectful and I'm sure the huge majority of us would love to see you back. Enjoy the rest of your anniversary too. XX
I live in the Highlands and welcome you , In the Village I love in we have had problems with campervans , from dumping grey waste on the beach to massive fires , to human excrement, the smell of cannabis wafting about to dogs attacking people , and none of them to my knowledge were English
I think some people have taken a dislike to campervans and motorhomes because of the mess some leave behind...but thoughtful travellers like yourselves will always be welcome.
Hi, we respect your opinion but we don't agree about the clickbait comment. This was a real comment on a real trip to Scotland. The title is a question not a statement of fact that gave us the scope to discuss this particular comment. People read the comments left on our videos when considering if they should visit a place. Unfortunately, comments like the one left can put someone off going to a place for good. We don't delete comments and we wanted to show everyone that Scotland is a very welcoming place full of amazing people and scenery and the few negative comments we get are not representative of the overall experience that we have had. That was the aim and we hope that the message was clearly conveyed during the video. Thank you for watching.
It just takes one grain of yeast to ferment and ruin everyone's reputation. The SNP has done a good job at polarising this lovely country where I have lived these past 2 decades. I was a child in the 50's in South Africa when what was to become the Apartheid Government began firstly targeting English-speaking South Africans with the same rhetoric. All the slurs used by them I now hear being used here in Scotland in my retired years. Talk about Dejavu Ms. Surgeon.
@@StchristopherofatlantisScotland vs England! The Scottish people in general have had animosity against the English for Centuries! However the likes of the SNP have used propaganda to turn two nations against each other for the lie of independence. My Friend invited his Scottish cousin to England and the Scot asked if he should remove the Scottish sticker in his car window because Scottish people get attacked by the English all the time… F, the haters and enjoy your holiday!
@@everythingspain9442 With all due respect, I have been an SNP member for 10 years, my English mother and aunt have been SNP members longer than I, and they have never encountered any racist comments from other SNP members. Quite the opposite, actually. We also have English friends living in Scotland who are members of the SNP, they have never encountered this animosity that you speak of. Both my cousins (Who are SNP members) are married to English partners and live in England. All of my English side of my family have said they have always been made to feel welcome in Scotland and love visiting us. I was put into hospital in an unprovoked attack while living in London. While I worked In Brixham (Living with my English Girlfriend), I was spat on and told to go back to Jock land quite a few times. I don't hate the people of England, far from it. There are idiots on both sides of the border.
That was a bit of a nail biting experience when racing for the ferry. The car that stopped but just enough for you to pass 😳 I squeezed my legs tight shut that’s what I do when OH driving to make our car smaller 😅. Glad it worked for you too.
We did Scotland a couple of years back in our motorhome . Absolutely beautiful, we were made welcome everywhere we went . I'm sure some were cussing us if they were stuck behind our van driving down narrow lanes , It's human nature . We did pull over to allow other drivers to pass and mostly thanked . Love your vlogs and the humour. We're off to sunny Wales today for our six week road trip with our two mutts . Keep up the great work .
I’m Scottish and very proud of being so, you are most welcome in our beautiful country. Don’t get why people say you must go home. Love watching your vlogs.
Hey you two beautiful people. I love your videos, I live in and love Scotland. It is a very scenic part of the world which should be experienced, it's almost too good to be true. Enjoy your holiday guys, you are more than welcome as everyone else is, anytime. Steve and Heather
Please don't be put of by a simple minded people. You're more than welcome in this beautiful country and enjoy yourselves. Great channel by the way. ❤❤
❤ Great blog again guy's ❤️ anniversary in Arisaig... 👍💐👍Happy anniversary from us two, get back up here ASAP 🏴great to see you guy's had a great time, have a great week.. ❤
Am from a Scottish family that moved to Southern England, during 60’s. Loved visiting Scotland; very beautiful and found the people very welcoming. Wouldn’t want to live there preferring a small southern seaside town but it’s lovely to see villages and countryside unchanged from centuries. Hope you both enjoy your holiday
We really enjoy your excellent videos. Glad you enjoyed Camusdarach and Arisaig. Unbelievable beaches all to your self. We keep going back every year and are always made to feel extremely welcome by all the local people.
A great video and a Happy Anniversary for the day - love the new arty effects 👍 - even more serious subjects with a humourous twist 😀 - And despite what some would say and has already been said we all live in the UK 🇬🇧😀 - look forward to the next instalment 👍
Hi. Thanks for watching. We love the new effects too and will keep making videos like this… with our humorous twist 🤣🤣 Know you have been watching a while and we thank you for supporting us 👍❤️
Firstly Happy Anniversary guys 🎉, what a wonderful video this is, it has it all, information, superb footage and wonderful music. We so enjoy watching each episode over the weekend. This one is a cracker….. the I love mull cheese place looked amazing as did Balamory. Keep em coming 🍺🍺🦴🦴
Sorry you got trolled by an eejit, you're always welcome here. A Yorkshire couple I know live across the road from me and they love it here after 10 years.
I really do look forward to your latest film each week. Thanks for being totally charming and genuine in your stories, it makes such a pleasant contrast to everyday, workday life. What a serenely beautiful and tranquil place for you to spend your anniversary... congrats! I loved the film with the dogs playing on the deserted beach... could life possibly get any better? Thanks again.😎 Tim and the lovely Betty x 🐶
Hi Tim and the always lovely Betty, We had such a great time, we loved Scotland despite the poor weather. It was such a joy Take care and have a great weekend xx
Happy anniversary to you both! Hope you had a great day. There are always people who find it easier to be negative on social media but your attitude is best. Ignore the negativity and appreciate the people you meet along the way. Happy adventures. Trev and Sue
Hello Andrew & Claire, I'm proud to be Scottish, but when you hear about idiots like Mr McWhat' his face, it makes me sad! Enjoy your holiday in Scotland, and don't give this guy a second thought! Keep the videos coming. Andy Ritchie.
Happy anniversary both, hope it was a good one! When you were going to the ferry we got really cross with that silver car that wouldnt reverse back! Loved watching Pablo and Dora on the beach - a picture of pure joy chasing each other! Happy travels!!! Xxx 😊
Hiya, we are good thanks! Still trying to decide on which motorhome but planning our wedding too. The prices seem to be coming down tho so no rush. Every time we see a Benimar Mileo we do look to see if it's you guys! Take care xxxx
Hi Guy's. Happy anniversary to you both. There is always one bad apple, but as you stated its a lovely part of the world and we have always been made to feel welcome in Scotland. Stunning scenery at the end made us feel quite emotional watching you two and the dogs 😊. Take care and enjoy, stay safe. Paul and Joanne 👍 ❤️
@Stchristopherofatlantis Thanks, Forgot to mention if you have blown air in the washroom then hang towels in there with heating on, close all other vents in the van. P and J 👍 😊
Everybody should have some friends like you two!!? brilliant sense of humour between you and bouncing off one another! real folk thank you for the magical 🤔 entertainment and please keep it going. PS I'm from West Yorkshire and it is part of God's own county as well as the other bits 👍👍✌️ many thanks and take care muckers.
Comments wouldn’t stop me from going somewhere and I know they wouldn’t stop you. Great video as ever. Looking forward to doing a trip to Scotland possibly Isle of Mull bringing back memories of my teens watching the Tour of Mull rally 1983
I run a Facebook group “Motorhome Touring Scotland” I have about 23k members and I have to say there are ‘keyboard warriors’ out there that like to comment and antagonise others. That said there has only been 2 of these warriors in 6 years that are anti English and hate motorhomers but that’s the nature of the beast, you’ll always get folk that are jealous or have nothing better to do. Independent site owners and local councils are starting to respond to the demand and embracing motorhomes and campervans by providing the facilities that we all need when touring. Love your videos and the sense of humour you guys have. Good stuff👍👍👍
Happy Anniversary Claire and Andy. I've really enjoyed seeing Mull & Arisaig is definitely on my wish list. If you are interested in the history of WW2 all the SOE agents did their training at Arisaig house, there used to be a tour but im not sure it's still running, last i saw the house was up for sale. We only use recognised campsites & where ever possible use local shops for groceries and pubs for meals out as a treat, never had any issues. Always pull over for cars & delivery vans again never been an issue and i liked someone elses comment about remembering that Scotland is part of the UK. All the best on your adventures Tim, Jane & Archie.
Hi Tim, Jane and Archie, We didn’t notice this house so maybe it has since been sold?! Our trip was all campsites and food and shopping at local places. We had some fab meals. We just loved it 🚐 Mull and Arisaig beaches are dynamite ❤️👍
@@Stchristopherofatlantis Apparently there is an exhibition in the Land, Sea and Islands exhibition centre on the SOE agents training prior to parachuting into occupied Europe. Violette Sazbo was probably one of the best known agents who trained at Arisaig House.
I wouldn't take much notice of that comment we are British not just scotish your always welcome as far as most people in Scotland are concerned good luck and have a nice time 🎉
Happy Anniversary 🎉. We are born and bred Scottish 🏴, we love your vlogs gives us both such a good laugh 😆 and love seeing your videos of the lovely places you visit, your soundtracks are great. Since watching the Fidden Farm vlog, we are going to pay it a visit, it looks tranquil. Don’t let the haters get you down. By the way we love your tea, a cup of Yorkshire Tea can’t be beaten 🫖☕️. 🏴🏴🇬🇧.
Hi. We are so happy to read our vlogs make you both laugh 🤣 Fidden is beautiful, views are out of this world. Enjoy the sunsets 🌅 ☀️ and a nice cuppa ☕️
Hello folks, The Comment saying English go home Will have been written by a Unionist to stir up trouble I would bet my right arm on that. I have just started watching your vlog and it's really good. You will always be welcome in Scotland.
I live in York, a city that relies heavily on tourism to keep it alive and vibrant but some residents still moan. I guess you can't please everyone. Happy Anniversary both of you.
Where ever you go there will be folks who represent the minority. Let's not give them ammunition by doing all we can to be respectful to the locals and to the wonderful countryside we all have, whether in England, Scotland or Wales.
Hi Claire and Andy 👋 just us 2saying hi and thanks again for sharing this video update 👍 as for your towels we use microfiber bath and hand towels dry very quick and no smell and thin to store in your van 😀 den and sue 👍👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🚌🚌🚌
Come to Scotland with and open mind. Respect the country as you would want the Scots to respect the place you live and you will not have a problem. People from other countries don't seam to have the same problems as a percentage of those from down south. Attitude is everything, respect is not given it is earned.
Another banger there guys 😀 love it and to see the dogs running on the beach is joyful to see, one question as you know we sold our California and are waiting for our new Sven Hedin so is that power bank a good thing to have as there is a Bluetti AC70 with solar panels on offer down from £1048 to £599 which seems a bargain as we wodered if that would help if we didn't have EHU so what are your thoughts. Andy, Linda & Basil (Yorkshire)
@@Stchristopherofatlantis Fantastic thanks for the fast reply we haven't ordered solar panels on our van but it does come standard with two leisure batteries so I was thinking if we get a power bank that would be a good back up, and hope you have a fantastic Anniversary
Hi there, moved from Scotland to tarn 49 years ago, and you’ll always find a grumpy old sod no matter where you go, just got back from waleswood today and looked forward to watching you vlog
We were just there. We met a right see you next tuesday on Mull....i reckon that was your commenter. He was bawling and swearing in front of his kids....they looked terrified poor mites. Everyone else we met were awesome. ❤
Hiya lovely couple. Doesn’t matter where you go you’ll always find places where folk love your money but not you! Life’s a journey and we’re enjoying following yours x
I used to go to Scotland for work twice a week and never had any hassle for being English. Same in ROI. I have had trouble in Wales, France and Germany though...
Lovely Vlog, wonderful area…We loved doing the 500 a few years ago….We had no bother with anyone…You get a Victor Meldrew in all corners of the universe…..Happy Anniversary to you both. Malc and Colleen xxx
In Tobemory there are showers public showers £1 per min or something like that in the council thing at the harbour was there a few weeks ago is that boat on the harbour still there with the council notice for removal its on a trailer with a 40hp mariner on its back £4k boat with no owner?!
Hi. We didn’t notice that boat but it could still have been there. We enjoyed our time in Tobermory, has some lovely lunch and drinks there and a mooch around some shops. The ferry was super easy to use.
Happy anniversary to you both. It's the best decision Andy ever made. I'm saying this because Andy doesn't do the comments..😅 We are in the same area in a couple of months, glad to see you didn't use all of this years allocated sunshine, all at once.😮
We just love it up there. We have a soft spot for the west. Where you guys heading? We used up very little of the sun allowance so you should be good for a belter ☀️☀️☀️☀️🚐
We will be staying at Silversands caravan and camping. Some of the hardstandings are just a few meters away from the ocean. It's like having your own private mini white sandy beach. Loving your reviews, they are giving us loads of ideas for the future.
You're welcome in Gosport anytime do it for Yorkshire. We're doing it for Hampshire now. Xx van life might be coming to an end rust bucket is up for sale and has an offer on the table😢😢😢 .
Isle of Mull Cheddar made by an Englishman? Thought it tasted funny ... 😉😂 FWIW This is one Scot who really appreciates your lighthearted, satyrical style, and welcomes you anytime! EDIT: What's the betting that was 'Mr MacLeod' sauntering up the middle of the road when you were trying to get to the boat!
I've lived in Scotland for 30 years now. I was getting sick of Yorkshire with the yuppies moving in wanted to connect with proper country folk again which we did. It's now starting the same process as Yorkshire went through, gob shite southerners with loads of money and attitude ruining a beautiful place. There's a minority of locals who forget there neighbours sold them out at Culloden being anti anything but the majority of Scots are great and welcoming. Whoever you are wherever you are show respect
I’m Scottish and People who comment like that don’t speak for the majority of Scots, We also have Many English Friends, one of My best Mates is English, just ignore these bampots! 👍🏻😎🏴🏴🇬🇧.
Lovely video again guys - lovely place, shame about the comment but as you know you’re not fly camping and chipping into the community spending money there… odd to get that comment but strange things happen don’t they - thanks very much for the inspiration, definitely fancy trying Mull, also been practicing with the sadistic sat nav this weekend in the North York Moors with closed roads and all sorts in prep! Have a great week, all the best, David & Rachel 👍
Hi, thanks for watching our video. We are so pleased that you like our channel. We agree that there are a small minority of people that are disrespectful everywhere. We know that people watch our videos for ideas of where to go and often read the comments for other peoples opinions. We felt that we had to address this in this video and show people thinking of going to Scotland for a motorhome, campervan or van holiday what our experience was in relation to some of the more negative comments we have received. The comment that we mentioned was sent to us a few days in to our trip and we hope that doing this video is a responsible and helpful response to anyone that has seen these types of comments about visiting Scotland. Scotland is an amazing place, full of amazing people.
Firstly Happy anniversary and congratulations,,,,,, someone finally recognising you having a you tube channel. 😂 Darren was especially impressed with the tidy Aroshall as his normally has his special cream messing the place up ,,,,, seriously though We loved Scotland and like you pulled over etc to be respectful. And the rainbows we saw were on steroids! Only place we've had negativity was Wales. And we can't wait to try Ireland but thats another story If Darren gets laid off 😂😂😂
@@Stchristopherofatlantis Darren said. He will share with Andy when we see you,... Syna booked in with her favorite mechanic on the 4th May in the meantime we have built not bought to attend next weekend (if she gets us there) and becaise we're van less bank holiday weekend have a Plan B x
@@Stchristopherofatlantis never one to hang myself !Tenby got cancelled and replaced by St David's The joy of living like a snail !!!Taking ur house with you 😁😁😁
Well looks like my comment went missing again . Said comment sent then disappeared, no idea why 🤷♀️Anyway was just saying about you respecting the area you were visiting and also spending money in the local shops , cafes and pubs so no reason for the animosity from that comment. Happy Anniversary, not gonna lie bit emotional watching you two on the white sand beach with the dogs running around having a great time with the nice music ( this isn’t a joke either) the Aros Hall on the other hand was a good joke though 🤣
Hi. We don’t know why your comments sometimes go missing! Not us, promise! We love Scotland so much. There is something so very special about it for us. We wish you a great week xxxx ❤️👍
Friends and I visit Scotland every year (NC500) and wife and I at least twice a year and have never came across any “anti-English” sentiments. Closest I have come to it is when I commented whilst drinking with locals in Oban that :- “Even though I have only been here two days, I can’t help noticing how the TV is full of stuffed shirts from Westminster telling you how it should be”. I was immediately transformed from a Liverpool born Celtic mongrel into an honorary Scot. I am sure there is some bias but it is probably based on what type of English you are?
You will get that regularly you just have to have a ducks back and consider them to be the water which just rolls off . They do not realise what they are saying could be hate speech but it isn't. Its the way they are brought up. The two governments have a lot to blame for it.
Whoever told you to go home? Has a 3 incher. My apologies for the small, girthless boys up this way 🏴 King of Scotland is King of England. That means you’ll always be at home in Scotland ❤ You look a bit like Ricky Gervais, just you’ve got a Zack Dingle accent which is madness so that’s earned a subscribe 😂❤
Hello and welcome to our channel. We are happy you found us 😁 You will find us extremely informative and full of facts about where we visit…. Oh wait!! Andy has been told that before but is in denial . Have a great week 👍👍
If they stopped the vans , campers , motorhomes these people who rely on the NC 500 will suffer terribly without tourism. I'm sure the shops along the routes are not complaining it's the locals who go for a newspaper in the morning and get stuck behind a motorhome looking for a campsite ,just my opinion.nice vid guys ..
We have a right to rnjoy OUR villages, hamlets and towns too in highlands we live here. Cant even get served lunch in summer as a local because od the tourists
