I love to tell rakugo stories to my friends, but it's so hard to find english translations. thanks so much! you did a great job bringing the jokes & characters to life
This was fantastic! I’ve just watched the first two episodes of Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju and was absolutely enthralled. I wanted to find a video of real rakugo to share with people and to find a performance in English was almost too good to be true. A great story - thank you!
Wow great to see you on stage after so many years .. worked with you at HOE & ended up doing a Rakugo or two myself .. great job on White Lion ! Cheers DC
I know he probably just did it to pay tribute but i dont like the performance, its hard to differentiate between the characters cuz the voices is like the same demeanor and sound…
Tbh, I kind of regret watching this.. As a performer (albeit music, not storytelling,) I understand what it takes to get up on stage and show something you’ve worked hard at to an audience. However, as a person who enjoys the art form, this made me kind of sad. I’m not really sure how to describe it except that it felt kind of amateur and fell way short of the potential. It was like he didn’t really know the story very well, or understand the characters that he was playing.
