A three-stage interview. 1. Introduction to relax candidates. 2.Discussion of relative merits of different ideas. 3. Wider discussion of topic of general interest.
Very unsure of why people are making fun of these obviously studious and hardworking men. They did incredibly well; Arabic and English as languages are worlds apart, and to grasp such a well-practiced conversational level as they have is something to be admired.
+Fionn Carsola If you look in all these videos all the people commenting seem to be veeery intelligent and rude at the same time criticizing negatively to the people who appear in the videos and passed the exams. Is stupid. Sure everybody only upload vides of people who doesn't speak well or doesn't pass. Only, sure... Hahahah So stupid always the people commenting below the videos...
These two students earned my highest regards and respect for their handwork to learn new language (English) which is not their native tongue, Now, All of u guys making fun of them and mocking their accent, remember, you barely speak few words of ANY other language other than your native language. However, these students speak their native language well, and more credit to them by learning and being able to speak fairly well English which is not their native language, Obviously! That been said, U do realize at the end of the day, they are better than most Americans and U,K citizen whom barely speak academic English, because Most of u guys speak slang English, which is not considered ACADEMICALLY CONSTRUCTED and correct!
You started off with a very good, valid point. But you waffle into a conclusion that L1 speakers have a poorer ability than those whose English is L2, with zero evidence. "Most of you guys speak slang". Er, no we do not. We have the ABILITY to speak informally, or formally, or in any way we choose because we have a far stronger ability to utilise our first language than most of those who use English as a second language. What people do with a language, and what they know are two different things. You clearly know little of First vs. Second Language acquisition.
Let me give Example, in my case English is not my first language, and I don't an a thick accent, while I am still able to keep my other native languages. So don't you think I am in better position than most of only English native speakers for been good at learning and speaking English while maintaining my native to other languages? I think so. So the idea of someone that speaks one language trying yo monk me on how I speak a language that is not my native, Of course thats if I have an accent.
... humans are born as ignorant beings.. there should be no shame in learning no matter how it looked I'm really surprised that there are so many people laughing and making fun of those guys in the video! sure it could be something unusual or goofy.. but it isn't something to laugh at.. this thing you're laughing at is helping them practice language use.. and they're gaining something out of it shame is on you.. ones who make fun of learning
Blackrew yeah that’s true We should learn arabic too I would prefer to learn arabic than spoken dollars. I will go for it The gold than dollars And I have been working here for 5years 😂
I commend them for their courage to appear on video while taking such a stressful exam. They both did a great job and I'd love to see an update and hear them speaking now (2020).
These two gentlemen earned my respect. I have seen how terrified students are in situations like these (because I have been in their shoes). the two gentlemen are really brave especially since they got themselves to be in-front of the camera. See the problem is that you try to measure their level of English with yours
I Don't think that because as a native spain speaker I have studied several languages and if you feel like and you are going to try practicing that you won't make mistakes
GREETINGS FROM A LAND WHO KILLED ITS ORGINAL PEOPLE, THATS WHY they are so obseed with mars, they dont have to kill anyone their our start a war. The day americans start to move to mars will be the happiest day of my life.
In helping a guy practice his English, I learned some Arabic vocabulary..I loved the exchange. We should all keep learning outside of our comfort zone.
As someone who is English, and learning two other Languages ( German and Italian ) I understand how hard it is so do a speaking exam and I find the humour of I have said almost identical answers to people of my languages nationalities and how like ' I go to the cinema ' like in English we don't think much but it isn't theses people's first language and English is hard to learn as it is ... Much respect for theses guys and I hope they did good 👍🏽
the younger generation in Abu Dhabi can speak fluent English some even have accents of America ,British ,Canadian etc! they teach Everything in English in the schools of the united Arab Emirates (Dubai), The kings found out when the Citizens studied abroad in Europe they found it difficult to learn and understand. So the kings of Uae decided that the curriculum should be taught in English. Only the older generation cannot speak English or very little , but the rest do.
I think they did well, and will certainly improve if they take more lessons, and practice more. Emiratis are wealthy, and have access to free higher education, and this means many of them do not try hard, and take things easy. The gentlemen here are exceptions, and are some of the hard working affluent Arabs (who are fewer in number). More education and exposure to the world of knowledge is a blessing, and a good command of the English language is a gateway to those blessings. It is good to see that these Arab gentlemen are headed that way.
it's daunting to learn a new language and these two hard working men earned my respect. We American only know how to speak English and we feel utterly lost when we travel abroad.
i love how his colleague says that the first stage is an introduction to RELAX them then he asks them about their ID number which is something they could have easily forgotten by the time they walk into the office
I am brazilian and I speak portuguese spanish and english but my brazilian accent is quite strong!!!!! This is do not shame about That!!! This arab guys are champions just because they have had a hard work !!!!Great job !!!!!PAX!!!!
i have also the ielts exam next week, they really encouraged me,i'm not better than them and im proud of my self, because no one is born perfect,we are all only humans, good luck for all candidats
This is amazing when you learn other languages, accent gets better with time, the important thing is to understand and speak it, after they learn english or any other language it will be easier to learn other languages, congratulations to both gentleman and good job!
Oh my goodness. They were brilliant. Wow, I could not do that. Though while looking through the comments (obviously ignoring the stupid ones) I found people asking for subtitles and saying they couldn't understand them....... I wonder if it's just me but perhaps we were hearing to quickly due to the fact that we aren't used to having to pay attention to what people are saying.... If that makes sense. But either way I think they did really well :)
I always love seeing someone learning a new language. I took French in high school and college/university. I am not fluent but I do have a decent grasp on the language
jesus walkswithus nah as a person pursuing a degree on japanese in uni there's hiragana and katakana (easy) then there is Kanji ( which is way way harder than chinese and look at their characters it is similar to chinese)
YO, LOOK TO THEM, HOW THEY LOOK EACH OTHER, AT FIRST I THOUGHT THAT THEY WANTED TO FIGHT AND DESTROY ALL THE THINGS AROUND THEM...... THE BEST MOMENT OF VIDEO IS 00:10 TO 00:39, I LOVED IT
before watching this video I thought my English was terrible so I did not have much confidence to speak , now i know my english is way too much better than millions of people out there who try to learn english as their second language and I am ready to talk to foreigners, thanks gosh.
That's good take off. Will improve with daily conversations. I started from na thing without teacher. And guess what? I'm doing well and never stopped learning. So carry on
These students are very good! Those who comment negatively are not EFL instructors, so they don't know what to listen for. I've taught in Abu Dhabi University and the English level of the students was just as high. These young men are fluent in English.
I love listening to Arabic-speaking people speak in English, as well as their native Arabic. English is likely as hard for them to learn as Arabic is hard to learn. I know. It’s taken me two years to learn grammar in Arabic, the Arabic alphabet and some rudimentary vocabulary. Not to mention reading Arabic is difficult with all the accent marks and pronounciation in reading the words.
Hmm so interesting halimo, did your mother give birth to you in the Himalayas, I'm so surprised that a low intelligent human begin could ever defeat anyone in chess, hats of for your mother for marrying your brother.
muhammad40000 their accent like talking with heavy tongue and don't try to open your mouth wide while talking I'm an Arab I guess this how we got that accent 😂😂
In my point it is not the students who were nervous. It was the examiner. He should speak to students to make them feel comfortable. But he was the one who was nervous. Reading the questions
I appreciate the effort presenting by the guys, my English is also very week I also want improve my English but i don't have such activity to improve my English
I too I'm learning Arabic and it's very interesting. My bose lady teaches me coz she speaks Arabic only and I use English. Now I'm going to Two years and I can describe myself in Arabic and ask anything that I want in Arabic and I'm having alot of fan.
Cool Sameet i'ts ok if i make mistakes the bottom line is how to correct these mistakes and save it on your mind even this is not my own language so why i'm gitting mad buddy you r the best english speaker ight
The student on the right has a better grasp of informal English (contractions etc) but the student on the left has a better pronunciation. Very impressed with both!

even if you take 10 years learning Arabic, you will never speak as natives Cuz it is so difficult at least you can understand these two respectful men but i can't understand the people who are trying to speak Arabic their language for me is mess the language is only to communicate no problem if there are few grammar mistakes or the accent is different you can understand, and this is the important
ignorant people find it funny ,, Ignore them, even life is just a matter of fun for them.. IELTS, TOFEL and other English language exams carry out the English language test similar to here ..
They are unemployed people living in their mothers house, with the minimum risk of having fun so they try to make fun of others, they should be ashamed of themselves, in the future this trolls jobs will be taken over by robots, and everyone will be laughing at them, and point at them and say hahaha robot is more intelligent than you and can do your job better than you.
I'm from Saudi Arabia and I can speak English very fluent (American accent) even though I've never been in one of these courses or exams or whatever they are and also I've never been into any English speaking countries thanks to Hollywood movies and RU-vid its the one and only reason I'm typing English right now

I am Romanian , I stay in UK from 2015 ( 3 years) and when I go to school, some people laugh about me because I don’t have the accent and sometimes , I don’t know some words .
You have a great eye for details, its no shame to have an accent, its exotic and tell people where you from, you can get rid of your accent by a lot of practice.
I am really amaze to those arabs who's willing to learn english language ,for the way their teaching is a lot of differences thats why its hard for them to learn easilly unlike other country's.
Tats a good way of teaching and these guys are doing really well , though they have to go through accent training but I guess they are just beginners so , cool.
