I would always say if you can keep a downstairs loo & shower if you can. In life you never know what life might bring and to have an accessible loo and shower could be important. I wish we didn't speak from experience but we do. Never assume life changing events won't happen to you.

Your house looks amazing and turning your downstairs room into a utility is a brilliant idea but keep the loo it's valuable.

I first started watching your channel when you were working on the guest bathroom. It is just amazing what you have done. The next room I saw was you renovating the dining room which I still think is amazing. You have both worked so hard I cannot help but admire your perseverance. It looks fantastic.

I think it might be wise to leave the shower room for now, until you have finalised plans for an extension. You might be able to carve out some space to make a laundry room next to existing shower room - I'm assuming the 'snug' room will become part of the new kitchen. A downstairs loo and shower is invaluable - especially when you do start the extension! I can see why you think the washer & dryer is a bit awkward, but perhaps a small price to pay for waiting and getting the perfect laundry room. Well done to you both on how far you have come, this Christmas tour was so beautful, truly a delight to watch. Looking at how beautiful your home looks and how elegant and beautiful you look, I think back to when the house was torn up and you were such a hard worker, getting messy and dirty yourself and I find it all so admirable. I respect how you can be both those types of girl. Keep up the good work, you and Ollie are both amazing in what you’ve accomplished and are making beautiful memories with more to come. As for the downstairs bathroom, if you don’t think you will need the extra shower for house guest, then it would be a good idea to remove it and replace with a beautiful laundry area. And I think it is fine to have the laundry area in the extra bathroom, it is done quite frequently. Happy Holidays. Btw, where did you get the large candles that you have in the living room fireplace? I would like to purchase some. I did not see them listed in description.

You and Ollie did a great job creating this warm, inviting home for Christmas. My husband and I also have a "memory tree". It is the tree that we both love to decorate, I usually do the "glam tree". On our memory tree, every item is a cherished memory. From loved ones passed, travel, accomplishments and Christmas momentos. I love it!!

Looks beautiful! You’ve achieved a lot this year! Re the downstairs bathroom, I worked on a project exactly the same as yours shower room and can only encourage you to turn it into a utility room with loo. In fact we even took out the same shower. Side by side washer dryer will look lovely, but if you want even more storage you could keep them on top of the other, and put in wall shelving. There’s a system from IKEA called Boaxel that we used via which you can create super flexible wall storage for all your cleaning stuff, and also use as a bit of a pantry. I wouldn’t spend a huge amount of time and money on it if by 2023 you end up starting your extension, but I can really see that having more of a utility room with a loo would be incredibly practical for you guys. Don’t bother with the faff of creating a separate loo - you’ll just loose space, spend needless money, and your guests will be able to ‘cope’ using a loo with a washing machine in it

Yes, move the dryer and washer! Keep the toilet and sink in there. Always need one on the first floor for guests and children in the future, etc. The whole house looks wonderful!

Oh Laura yes!!! Give yourself a decent laundry.. keep the toilet in it too. We often do that here, you'll have closer access to the back yard for hanging out washing but when you're working in the garden and need a loo break the toilet is close and you don't traipse mud through the house or have to run all the way upstairs. You won't know yourself with a lovely laundry and you'll wonder how you managed without it. 😂😃. Also, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you both. Can't wait for your reno updates next year. X

Lovely video Laura.....thanks for sharing....I think keep the lol.... guests outside. BBQs....and when your downstairs.... But you can add your washer and dryer. And it's great to have one of the older clothes horse that you can pull down on pullies. One we have the days for airing off clothes etc ... A place to put your washing liquids and saves a big space in your kitchen.. X Anyway. I wish you and Ollie a fabulous Christmas and hope you have a break and enjoy your family together .. x
