English Word Stress Patterns use Volume, Pitch, and Length

For effective syllable stress or word stress patterns in English, we need 3 elements: volume, pitch, and vowel length to distinguish between unstressed and stressed syllables.
Many other languages use equal-length syllables and then speakers of those languages apply the same patterns when speaking English, which means students are able to use volume (quiet vs loud) and pitch (low vs high), but quite often vowel length (short vs long) is missing.
On the #TOEFL, intonation and vowel length are two important aspects being evaluated as part of the delivery score.
I would highly recommend that you use apps such as Audacity or online-voice-recorder.com to observe the shape of your words, meaning not only are the syllables loud or soft but can you intentionally make them shorter or longer?

Thank you for watching and for taking the time to comment. I hope the explanations were helpful for your pronunciation and intonation practice in English. Is there something else related to pronunciation and intonation that you would like me to explain?

Hi Jonathan Huggins, would you like to listen the 2 sentences(ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CLaF_gdtRgE.html)? my question is "the stress pitch method of "largest" sounds like not same, what's the difference in English?" thanks
