Loved your reaction! Sting wrote the song, it was recorded by The Police originally. Ofc, these boiz did their own thing on it, and Ren just killed it on guitar, so... Loved it!
the irony that Ren is Welsh, and Romain is French, both singing Englishman in NY 😄 I've seen this video many times, and always thought is was some cool hip place, with all the amazing foliage and lights. But only the other night I noticed that its filmed in a tiny back yard of someone's house, or flat (apartment). They've dragged a sofa and chair outside, and rigged up some lights to create an amazing scene. The brief overhead shot gives away that the garden is actually overrun with weeds, and that is the foliage you can see.. amazing how cool it looks though...
Sting wrote the song few years ago, the subject of the song was a guy called Quentin Crisp. As per usual Ren added his own unique style to it. Great vibe.
This is a beautiful song written by Sting after he met Quentin Crisp in New York after Quentin moved there (1981). Crisp is a gay icon born in 1908 in Surry and never compromised his expression of who he was. He wrote the book "The Naked Civil Servant" which was filmed and starred John Hurt. He was known for his eccentricity and his opinions pissed off mainstream and gay prevailing currents in both countries. Sting in interviews said he was so impressed with Crisp that he sat down and wrote this song. The song is much longer than the Big Push rendition, and speaks to Quentin Crisp's philosophical tenets. I love this cover.
This was a great cover. I liked it better than the original. But, I am biased. I think that they did it with more soul, for sure. My favorite part of this reaction. "The dog is about to start beatboxing". I don't know if you have it on your list yet? The Big Push, Icarus. The official video and the live acoustic version. Goran sings lead and Ren has an awesome guitar solo. In the official video, Ren is painted gold. Looking forward to the next step in your journey.
OMG! This is a STING Classic! Your 'punishment' shall be ->> going through the entire STING Catalogue -song by song! (Just about every Sting song is a Master Class - so will not be painful! 🤣😆} Enjoy. Yes The Big Push absolutely killed it. This cover really shows Ren's pitch perfect capacity to multi-layer harmonise. I mean he can ebb and flow seamlessly between the lead vocal and several strands of support. 'Tis a beautiful thing... Boy! They look young here. When was this? And Yes - I think Goran is pretty hot without the beard... 😉
This is one of my favorite covers that they do. It's really different from the original and they have such fun with it. They make such great music together.
Thank you 🙏❤ AR ❤ for your 🎸🎸🎸🥁 The Big Push - 🏴🗽 Englishman in New York reaction! #thebigpush #sting #ren #rengill #gorrankendall #romainaxisa #glennchambers #englishmaninnewyork
Thanks for another great reaction to Ren and the Big Push!! It's so interesting to realize you weren't yet born when Sting wrote this great song and performed it with his band. It's so refreshing that The Big Push gave it their own dynamite style. Their harmonies are so tight and beautiful although on this one, Ren's guitar playing is a whole other level of perfection. Thanks so much for this very fine reaction 💜 PS For another great Big Push video of a cover from the past, check out their version of Fatboy Slim's Praise You and for a great Big Push mashup of some past hits, please react to These Boots Are Made for Walking! You won't be sorry!!
This whole video is talent, hard work, creativity, harmony and brilliance... love it. Better than the original in my humble opinion. (even the dog is captivated by Ren!!)
I'm getting the sense that I am being intentionally tortured by having to wait for Love Music Part 3 because I requested it out of order. Ah well....this is a pretty sweet consolation prize...
Hey, Anthony!! I enjoy your reactions, and I have been enjoying your music as well. I am sure you get a lot of requests, but I was just wondering if you could dig into the vaults and react to some groundbreaking rap that came out of Utrecht, Brussels and that scene starting in the mid-1980s, particularly Urban Dance Squad. I am a 60 year old Canadian and I still have and play a number of treasured UDS cassette tapes!! Europe actually led the way I think in laying the groundwork for bands like Rage Against The Machine, that mashup of heavy rock and rap. Any UDS track will work, but I am partial to Say A Little Prayer For My Demo! Thanks from Canada!!
This one is a cover - it’s a Sting song. One of his first releases after The Police. It’s written about the quintessential English fop, Quentin Crisp. I genuinely prefer this version to the original.
The Song was Written by Sting 36yrs ago for his 2nd Solo Album and released as a Solo Single in1988, i'm Guessing you weren't even Born then so understandable you didn't know the Song, but apparently it was a Hit in Belgium and reached your Top 20. By the way i feel Old.
au weia, bin ich so alt oder du so jung? eines der legendären videos der 80er!!!!! und überhaupt: wieso kennst du sting und the police nicht??????? fragen über fragen.... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-d27gTrPPAyk.html
support the big push... nah, I'd rather support the original writer creator - Sting. Sad some don't know this is a cover, and imo no where near as good as the original.
Terrace would be the right word, I believe. Unless it is indoors but it does look like its outside. Also, it is a cover, it was done by Sting originally. terrace tĕr′ĭs noun A porch or walkway bordered by colonnades. A platform extending outdoors from a floor of a house or apartment building. An open, often paved area adjacent to a house serving as an outdoor living space; a patio.
