Don’t know if it’s been said yet but I genuinely appreciate the music being toned down in the background, I’ve always enjoyed hearing the work being done. 👍
I think it's really rare when something is made on youtube that can be considered an heirloom pice. But at least to me that is an heirloom pice who ever ends up with that hammer will keep it in their family for generations. Really nice work thanks for sharing.
The engraving reminds me of Edo period Tsubas I saw in a museum in Venice Italy, beautifully detailed with a high contrast due to the nature of the inlays ! We’ll done Ilya the hammer is mind blowing !
Super reasonable, for something that was completely done by hand. Especially the engraving, good engraving is EXPENSIVE, the gold is probably one of the cheaper parts of this
Wow, the artistry and expertise of those inlays was simply astounding! I also don’t think that I’ve ever seen someone forge weld steel to wrought iron before, but this was the perfect use case. You really know your craft well, and it was clearly shown by the making of this hammer. Well done lads, we’ll done!
I love everything you guys do. There’s no shame in your game. It’s all just pure talent. That was a beautiful hammer from an amazing source.. There will be a beautiful story attached to that build. I never have to worry about you guys manufacturing drama so that you can stretch out videos on builds. You’re just that damn good and I appreciate you for it!💃🏾💃🏾👍🏾👍🏾💯
You guys are artists. I love the look of your shop too. Compared to a certain other upbeat blacksmith shops channel, whose setting is very industrial, your shop is so much warmer and romantic. It looks like a really nice place to be. Keep it up!
My only complaint is that you guys are too good! I have to go elsewhere to see how to fix the problems I run into. Lol. Maybe a video or two where you show how to fix common forging/grinding mistakes?
I would absolutely LOVE to see more of "This to That" builds. You guys are doing such a fantastic job. Keep up the amazing work! I always look forward to seeing a new upload from this channel!
Absolutely beautiful craftsmanship as always! I really hope I can buy one of your hammers someday when I have the time and money to set up my forge again. They look like an absolute pleasure to use. As a kid, my dad always told me the best way to enter a craft is to buy good tools that make you crave using them. When he decided to learn to play the guitar at 16, he spent all the money he had saved up for a car to buy a Martin Dreadnought. It's been 50 years and he still plays that guitar everyday without fail. Wherever he goes, his Martin goes, and that guitar has been at his side as he has traveled all over the US and the world. Whichever craft you pursue, it has to become an addiction - the thing you do to procrastinate other things.
It's always a pleasure to see your work. In the Smith school I've been we have mostly the same fundamental technics and reasoning than you, but you have some extra tips/ideas/technics that differ from ours. So it's really instructive and entertaining for me to watch! Keep it up!
@@ThatWorks Wasn't Inigo using his father's sword? He handed it to Wesley to examine and he responded that he'd never seen it's like. . . I kinda assumed that meant it was his father's sword. Still - YES PLEASE!!! (my favorite movie of all time. . . MAWWAGE! :)
this is such a piece of art tool, no way it's worth only 2K. It should be much more, maybe 5K or so & I am sure there will be a collector that would buy this easy fast. Also, maybe an auction style might actually yield even bigger price.
@@ThatWorks Does Palarium really pay you enough? Considering their track record as gamedev, i'm kind-of surprised they haven't converted into an investment firm at this point (since they didn't go bankrupt yet).
@@tacitus5665 Mobile gaming is huge in Asia (India, China, Japan), every western company wants to penetrate that market and control the mobile gaming space, that's how you earn your billions. The amount of gamers there trumps any console/PC gamer here and micro transactions is how these company feed and prey on their consumers. Mobile gaming is not as popular here in the west, but companies are trying to build traction or at least build a portfolio of players before entering the "global" ... * cough * ...Asia market and get rich. If they get big enough, sooner or later they will have to cross paths with Tencent, who will most likely buyout their competition.
Great build, you guys are really getting into a good groove with the content on this channel lately. I don't miss Man at Arms: Reforged so much when there is great content and awesome builds like this being put out here.Any chance Ilya could make a set of historical lobstered gauntlets like the one he made as part of the shield build for the Forged in Fire final round challenge he knocked out of the park? It was really a thing of beauty, and I was disappointed that FiF showed so little of what went in to making the gauntlet specifically. I would love to see more of Ilya working on a build like that.
Please take me on as an apprentice!!!! Amazing work everything you do!!!? This is the most beautiful work I've ever seen!!! Art and function tied together!!! Amazing work!!!
a video dedicated to the fine artistry of the Hamon from the simple but extremely hard to pull off straight hamon to the most complex hamon out there. also include how to avoid auto tempering. i learned that you have to wait till your quench medium stops boiling to pull it off.
How about a classic. The original Conan sword, either the one he found or the one his father made,or both....lol. Really enjoy yalls videos btw and look to get into blade smithing as soon as I get the extra time. Something I've always wanted to do but y'all really add to that passion!!!
I just have to comment on how perfect your musical choices are for your videos. Epidemic Sound crushes it each time. Sometimes I just put these videos on in the background to listen the awesomeness. Oh and I *guess* your smithing skills are great too. I'd love to see you make a flamberge montante. Also I'd love to buy a flamberge montante.
Man, I love this piece so much. both beautiful and practical! I got a couple of suggestion for you: to get rid of the lines when filming a screen you should set the shutter speed to above or below 60, seance 60 is the same as the refresh rate of typical screens. and compensate with the ISO and lighting. When the sound of a person speaking is to quiet it can be boosted with gain.
The only disadvantage I see there - the length of the video. I wish the engraving part could last a biiiiit longer.. However - thank you guys for sharing your craftsmanship with us. It's always a pleasure watching you make masterpieces. Илюха красавец, конечно. Настоящий мастер.
@@ThatWorks I totally understand that, guys. Just my jewish bitching, nothing more. Love Ilya engraving, I think I could spend hours watching the process.
just a suggestion on the metal wedges, notch the sides so that if you ever need to rehang the hammer it is a thousand times easier to do if the wedge is notched on the side.
What type of steel do you typically use for the cutting and punching tools? It seems like they need to be pretty hard and durable, as well. Do these types of tools last a long time with typical use? Thanks for all the great content! You guys are really great and I really appreciate the skill and dedication to the craft as well as your willingness to teach rather than strictly entertain.
First off I love the hammer and the graphics. Second I know I am posting this again but it would be awsome if you guy's made something from the ranger's apprentice. Thank you for reading
Gorgeous work! Only surprised you didn't show us the alchemy to get the gold and sillver from the anchor chain. But I guess master crafters need to keep a few secrets!
I would love to see more collaborations with Skallagrim. Maybe you guys could send him some of the stuff you made to review, like the viking spear and Dark Souls sword. This would be awesome.
