Watching this for the first time after August D Road to D-Day concerts finished. And as a baby Army i think this fandom experience offers us such a rare and positevily undescribable feeling of witnessing your artists grow up, in every aspect that they decide to show. There is so much rawness and youth eagerness in this performance while in the Nevermind encore performance of 2023 you feel the truth of the words , but also the seasoned wisdom of the man that is currently reliving that song. And maybe even some shiness around the version of the self that got the guts to write those statements..😊 Such a humane thing to do...grow up on your on feelings and just *become* something, anything,... I discovered this song some weeks ago I don't know why but I have been listening to song on loop for days now.. I am having a hard time these days I don't know where to go, I don't know how will I end up, but due to this song I just decided to move straight up now no matter what the results. I love this performance so so much. When I was a baby army I had downloaded this video on my phone and watched it religiously. I love yoongi so much that I fall short on words. Since a lot of you still come here - when he says the line with “if you feel like you are going to crash just accelerate you “ - can you guys give me your interpretation of it? Like it’s okay if it’s little examples. I always felt drawn to the song it this one lyric I can’t interpret myself. Also Jimin has it really engraved on his chest and I think that’s very special how Yoongi apparently has that impact on him he has on us too 🥺😊 thank you

When I first heard the lyric I thought this was recklessness. Is he suggesting we double down on mistakes? I later considered the context of the song and now think it means if one is pursuing a dream and feels they're going to fail they should put more effort. It is better to fail having put your all than to fail after a half hearted attempt. One regrets less if they put everything into it and fail rather than fail and think if only I had tried harder. An example is the context Suga is speaking from. When he decided to be a musician everyone told him 'he would make his home broke'. At some point he felt like they were right he was going to fail but instead of stopping "applying brakes" before he failed he "accelerated" that is put more effort. He determined that if he was gonna fail, it's ok. He would fail spectacularly i.e "accelerate" as he was already going to "crash" anyway. If he failed at it he would be comforted by the fact that he had exhausted every option and that it was something he couldn't help like the lyric RM says at the ending. The 'nevermind' then comes in where if you make a mistake while working for that goal and can't go back and fix it don't dwell on it. If one does this it stagnates their progress. In my opinion Jimin struggled a lot with mistakes he made performing. He judged himself too harshly. Suga says it's not easy to just say nevermind when one makes a mistake doing something they are passionate about but "engrave it on your chest" meaning store it in your heart. Jimin uses the tattoo to remind he to nevermind his mistakes and keep going. This is just my opinion.

Also, in a more literal sense, I've heard (don't know if it's true) that if you're driving and get into a skid, breaking can make it worse so you should accelerate and it will help you straighten out. I love SUGA's lyrics. They're just so damn good.
