I just received my engine 750 pro. Great review of this bike. Learned a few new features about this bike I did not know. I also received the wrong owners manual. I am also disappointed with the power of the 750 motor and the throttle issues mentioned in your video. However, with that said the build quality is solid and robust and l like the features this bike comes with. I am a big guy at 6'3 - 230lbs and the suspension works great for me. I am a cruiser on the trails and not a speed freak and 22 mph max is fine for me. I will however, be changing out the seat to a cloud 9 cruiser. Just recently I took a 34 mile round trip and had about 20 % power left on the battery. The re-gen is great as I have a lot of hilly country I drive through as well. The Speed reduction from re-gen slows me down just perfect without using brakes. I wish service was more responsive as they have not returned any questions I have asked. All in all, I like the bike and hopefully it will continue to be trouble free

@@olcaybolat3452 So far so good. I have 300+ miles on the bike. I really like the robust quality build of the bike. The dual suspension has worked out great for me with the smooth ride quality. I did get a new seat that fits me better. The regen feature does work as I live in a hilly area and have been able get about 1mile more when using it with regen. For those who want more down hill speed you can simply put it in speed setting 2 or above to disengage the regen feature and get up to 28mph + and peddle in high gear. The motor is a 500w nominal and 750w max. I have found it be good enough for me as I am more of a cruiser. Love the ease of use for the main color screen. The hydraulic brakes are a plus for stopping power. I do get some swealing from the front brake pads when applying hard braking so I will working to find out why. Shifting is smooth and precise and tires are wearing better then expected. Battery is working as expected even in the cold weather with slightly less range. I do wish they would have put a larger capacity battery for a bit more range but all in all this has been a good experience for me. This summer I will be getting my wife one and taking them with us on our RV trips to really enhance our biking fun.

Just bought 2 ep2 pro updated bikes for me and the missus. This thing is wild and fast. It continues to amaze me how all the videos I see have one loose hand on the bars and the other out holding a stickphone (or a drone-cam on remote control) while improv hosting a youtube video with silent electric cars suddenly going by, no mirrors on the e-bike, the ubiquitous Iphone up next to the digital read-out on the bars.....everything fighting for attention. Don`t mind me, I`m just a 66 year old who`s been on the ground a few times.

Jeremiah ~ I have a Polarna M4 and it is very similar to the Engwe Engine Pro 750W. Both of these e-bike's controllers have a ton of adjustable settings that will effect their performance. I have ridden over 1,000 miles since I got my Polarna 3 months ago. I have made a number of setting changes from the factory defaults which has improved performance. In this video you have concerns about the up hill performance. I use both the throttle and the PAS modes together, this has several advances over using each of them independently. I use the throttle somewhat like an accelerator in conjunction with the PAS modes. To get the full advantage of the throttle while attacking a hill, continue to pedal while using maximum throttle. In my normal riding, I use full throttle until the cruise control engages and continue to pedal to maintain full current in that PAS mode. Note that I have my controller PAS settings for 0-9 (9 PAS modes). Once you have the cruise control locked in, let's say PAS Mode 3, while the cruise control is still locked in PAS Mode 3, you can advance the PAS modes up to a higher level (PAS modes 4 thru 9), and the e-bike will advance to the maximum current level in that PAS Mode. With the cruise control locked in, and still continuously pedaling, it will take about 3 to 4 seconds for the higher PAS modes to kick in. Using PAS modes only, I was disappointed with the acceleration/performance of the Polarna when I first got it. But, after I figured out how to use the throttle in conjunction with the PAS modes, I am pleased with its performance now. 👍

Thank you for the detailed information Sonny and great to hear from you. Wow you put on a lot of miles in the past 3 months! My biggest problem is you only get full power 800+watts with just the throttle but as soon as you start pedaling even with the throttle fully held down it cuts the power output to around 550 watts as soon as you stop pedaling the power comes back. I tried all different settings but nothing seemed to change that.
@Onyasix
@Onyasix 2 года назад
@@JeremiahMcintosh ~ Even though the Polarna and Engine Pro have controller LCD screens and functions that look NEARLY identical, I know that the controllers may behave (programmed) differently. I know that I get full current with the Polarna in PAS mode only . . . in PAS Mode 9 around 950 watts. Have you adjusted the PAS mode settings? My Polarna came with the highest PAS modes set at 90%. I changed that setting to 100% for maximum current output. The top speed is a tad above 28 mph (level, no wind). The top speed seems to be controlled by current and does not have a speed limit cut off. Going down hill, the motor will continue to put out power well pass 30 mph. I've never felt it cutting off. It only has an 18 amp controller and if it had a 24 amp controller, I feel that it would easily do 30+ mph on a level surface.
@JeremiahMcintosh
@JeremiahMcintosh 2 года назад
Sounds like you have more adjustable settings in your bike. You can see at about 17:40 seconds I have Pas 5 set to 100%. Do you have an ACF setting in yours? I couldn’t figure out what that Was in mine?

@@JeremiahMcintosh ~ My Polarna does not have Kinetic Energy Recovery. But the Yamee Fat Bear 750S does. In the manual for the Fat Bear, the controller display, in "Advanced Settings", between "Slow Start" and "CRU", there is "SHD" which has 2 settings 0 and 50. The 0 turns the KER off and the 50 turns the KER on. My guest is that the Engine Pro's controller display, "ACF" does the same as the Fat Bear's "SHD", it turns the Kinetic Energy Recovery on and off. As for the initials "ACF" and "SHD", I have no clue, must be a China thing . . . lost in translation, lol.

From what I understand that is the Bafang system. It uses similar protocol as Key Display. Many different bikes have a similar layout (Himiway, Sondors, Ride 1up, Biria). There is a way with them to tie as well as untie the throttle with the PAS level (I have done it before on a Biria which uses the KeyDisp 500). The problem is on the more advanced models that use plain English in the sub menu instead of code, it might be difficult to find. Your top speed yes is controlled by the % of output that the controller is set at, however you also have the ability to change your total Amp discharge. Most 48V batteries are good for more amps than the controller is set at for default. From a dead stop if you nail the throttle and don't have throttle restrictions, you should see in the neighborhood of 1000w from a dead stop.

Thats the plus that the Lectric Xp has as far as throttle, its at max no matter what level you select for PAS. So if you need to get out of the way of something quick and are at a low PAS level setting like 1 or 2, just use throttle and quickly speed up to max speed.

The theory of regenerative amp hours is 👏 However if you need to climb hills a much bigger wattage than 500 needs to be added by Engwe. 1,500 watts in the rear wheel, or 750 in each wheel would allow one to climb and not have to peddle hard while getting the benefits of regen, and you know the purpose one buys an e-bike to make peddling a lot easier with peddle assist along with it extending your battery helping the motor along.

There is a guy in my town who has one. He added 1000w front motor and second battery. Basically as you were saying, he uses the front motor and battery to fully regenerate the factory one. Gets about 100 miles out of it.
@buffalomind6838
@buffalomind6838 2 года назад
@@BoardwalkBullies The battery is the bigger issue than is the power more often. However the motor is an issue when it is widely recognized as not being enough with only having 500watts for hill climbing. Why companies with fat tires, or especially heavy bikes stay with the 500watts is disappointing. Especially when we know that hub motors are relatively inexpensive as compares to mid drives with equal wattage. That guy is getting to enjoy what many companies advertise, but rarely do and that is the amount of miles one is going to get often under even ideal conditions.
@BoardwalkBullies
@BoardwalkBullies 2 года назад
@@buffalomind6838 believe it or not, it's really neither when it comes to 48v. It's the controller that is the limiting factor. Most manufacturers rate their motors at "500w" mainly to make them 50 state legal. Usually your nominal cruise usage is that or less anyway unless you just don't pedal at all. Most 48v ebike batteries nowadays are 14ah. If you do the math on that from the nominal standpoint (v * a =w) then you get 48 * (20 to 32) = a nominal peak watt output of 960 to 1536 nominal watts depending on what type of (meaning how expensive) of an 18650 cell you have in your battery pack. But as you can see on the low end you are still in the 1000w range and that's nominal. Peak you start out at 54.6v (redo the math on that one). So the motors are usually always over clocked regardless of their rating. The limiting factor for performance 9 out of 10 times is the controller. Either it restricts peak amp discharge (most default at 15a) or they severely regulate power delivery upon acceleration and most even still don't allow full amp discharge even if you can adjust it in settings (many won't let you set higher than 20 to 25a). Getting to know your controller will make a night and day difference in how you perceive your bikes performance. I had a guy who lives in my town contact me a few months ago. He had just recently bought a 48v 10.5ah folding bike used from a friend, his friend had also bought it from another friend. The reason why it kept changing hands was because they thought it was too slow and they got ripped off. The bike used the M2 system (same manufacturer as the M5, very similar functionality). They tried everything, removing the speed limiter, adding PAS levels, swapping batteries, the bike could reach maybe 22mph but with much pedaling needed. Turned out his factory default settings for Amp discharge is 13. So he was getting a whopping 624w out of his system. We turned it up to the max (20a) and BOOM! Instant 27mph and another satisfied customer.
@buffalomind6838
@buffalomind6838 2 года назад
@@BoardwalkBullies thanks for the info. One thing I am aware of is the controller being able to output more than what you are currently getting, but I wonder if doing that will severely shorten the other components as they are making them do more than what they were rated to do. Also the warranty does specifically say they will not cover the damaged item if you modify the bike in that way.
@BoardwalkBullies
@BoardwalkBullies 2 года назад
@@buffalomind6838 as with most things, use your discretion when you use them. Just because your corvette has 700hp doesn't mean it's meant to see 7000 rpm 50 times a day 😉 I noticed with my Biria (which I sold earlier this year) with a lot of starting and stopping when it was totally unmolested, the wiring to the battery between the controller would get REALLY hot. I put 2300 miles on the bike before selling, and nothing melted or anything and bike still rode like new but it did make me conscious of that to keep an eye on it anyway. Believe it or not, that bike actually does better when you optimize the settings as far as longevity (I have a video on my channel about that) the reason for that is that they don't really pay attention to that level of detail sometimes. The manufacturer buys the system as is and just slaps it on the bike.

I would like to see a folded view of the width or thickness of the bike as I have a small trunk opening. Not sure what the region would offer in flatter areas. @@JeremiahMcintosh Thanks again Jeremiah for your fast response (as usual). However, many (if not to say most) of the e bike companies hugely lack on most things with respect to information of their bikes that actually matters for someone in order to decide what bike might be the right fit for them, Most companies don't really tell you the nominal continous watt power and the peak power. They simply mislead with peak power only. Information of motor torque is rarely seen and seems to be luxury for some reason. Propably 1/3 of companies don't even bother to to post the bike measurements like handlebar height, saddle height, overall lenght etc. But hey, who am I to crticise ................. pretty obvious people are buying anyways, right. Jeremiah, I know this is off topic but, it's important to an old man who's a fan of your vids. Just bought a BPMimports bike used. It's a F-15RS with a 750 watt motor. The controller has been replaced and the 'manual' the guy emailed me never mentions this model and refers to the bike as a "Pedego" but many models and nothing that looks just like my bike. Any idea as to what I just got myself into?

It depends what you’re looking for in a bike. If you have a Lotta hills the regen braking is nice if not it’s not needed. The only thing I thought was weird was the way it limited power up hills when pedaling. Not sure if they changed it in recent models or not.

@Forever Young Thanks. I looked hard at one of the photos and I thought I saw an oil reservoir so I figured the odds were that the bike had hydraulic discs. @@JeremiahMcintosh Thanks for the reply. There aren't any loose connections, the bike is relatively new and has about 83 miles. The incident occurred when I switched from level assist 5 to 0 in a downhill, regenerative braking kicked in and my guess is that it might have shocked either the battery, the controller or the computer. The battery was 75% full, and after the incident, I charged it to check its responsiveness; it charged for 2 hours then the charger turned green as an indication that it was full.

Hello, I been thinking about buying the Engwe engine pro upgraded version with 16Ah battery, upgraded controller and display. My concern is the I-ERS Regeneration. Engwe came out with a model WITHOUT Regeneration but I believe is only available in Europe. My question is, if you had the choice to buy with or without Regeneration, which one would you buy? Also, do you know if the battery runs out and you have to operate the bike like a "normal" bike. It will feel heavier because of the Regeneration? Please reply, I will like to know your opinion, Thank you
@JeremiahMcintosh
@JeremiahMcintosh 2 года назад
If you have a lot of long hills in your area then I would say the regeneration feature would be great to have, not so much for recharging the battery but for less braking going down the hills because it is nice how it slows the bike down. As far as it being harder to pedal when the motor is off I haven’t really noticed much difference than from my other bikes but any electric bike like this is going to be somewhat hard to pedal with no battery.
