I've now tested the Engine Pro. WOW! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oKAnRN3HBt4.html Links to videos on both bikes in the description and at the end :)
The two big screws we see at 7:19 in the Engine Pro can break very easily and at any moment they are very weak & they must be very strong. And this is very dangerous.
Glad you pointed out the torque nut thing on the front wheel of the EP-2 Pro because the benefits of that is that you can fit a front hub motor if it's under 500w without the need for a torque arm.
Very good comparison. I have spotted another difference from watching your video. The EP2 as a lower Steel fork and the engine pro has a aluminium lower fork. Great video by the way.
Just in the last month, I saw the Engine listed as 80 nm torque. Last year, befor they upgraded it, it had regen of up to around 900 watts rechage when in 0, 1 and 2 mode. That was one of the reasons I have the Engine on my short list, but wonder if it still has regen on the upgrade, the only folding fat tire I've seen with regen. If on going down alot of big hills, it would give more range and also save on the brakes.
I think if you live in a hilly area or you intend to use in a hilly area regen braking is going to be a huge advantage. As something of a comparison - I have a Nissan LEAF with 57k on the clock still on the original brake pads - that is of course in no small part thanks to regen braking removing most of the wear and tear from my pads as well as providing a little boost to the battery = win-win!
Good comparison, , my EP2 pro is limited in Australia and it knobs out at 25KMH and spineless on a hill, Over reach Governing laws are suffocating, does anyone know a way to remove the restrictions on the bike..
Great video! But personally I would have preferred you had ridden the Engine Pro to do a proper comparison as the comparison is really 50% looks and specs with the other 50% riding comparisons. That said what this great video does is open the path to another video comparing the 2 e-bikes for ride-ability (comfort, range, top speed etc) - I look forward with interest despite the fact I think I probably already know I will be plumping for the Engine Pro.
I had the same issue and the same concern with the nut on the front , I feel it is potentially Very dangerous as there is no scope to tighten the front nut without it being over tightened , I feel it is necessary to check the front nut before and after every use , thank you for your observation as I am reassured that I am not being paranoid.
11:00 (nuts on the wheel) wouldn't be a deal breaker for me cause you can always put locktight on it which can secure your nuts and you don't have to overtight them.
They might have the same motor but i think the controllers are different. I'll be releasing a hill climb video this week. Considering the manufacturers torque claims the results were interesting.
You could put a little paint on the wheel nut to make sure it isn't coming undone. Try and use a torque wrench for tightening. Their not that dear these days.
At 3:07 I noticed your rear tire of your EP-2 Pro got scratched. I suspected it must be from the chain rub when you switch to your bigger gears. I may be wrong but please check it out if there is a chain rub on your rear tire when you switch gears to bigger gears. It may not be safe to ride. It could be your wheel is not true or you have a bent derailleur.
Man I got a ecotric bike and although I love it, I really like the way this bike looks and the mag wheels and the back rack is heavy duty looking. Looks nice
Looks like you got the old version of the ep2 pro. I got the new 2022 version and its light years better than the old version. Better motor, better battery, lot more torque, easily reaches 30mph, and you can boost the amp controller to 25amps in the settings. Eats hills for breakfast, you can also fit a 16ah battery in it
..but on EP2 PRO controller max current is 18Amp ( you can read it on label), on engine pro is 23Amp. Did you really noticed difference when change to 25Amp? And how long you can drive before controller burn? BR Neno
What is the torque on the Engine Pro and EP-2 Pro? On the manufacturer's website, both have 55 N.m. Elsewhere the EP-2 Pro is reported to have 80Nm and has a planetary gear and the Engine Pro only 55Nm and has no planetary gear but direct drive. So how is it right?
Hard to say as engwes specs seem to get a bit muddled. Engine should be more than the Ep because it can get up the hill climb test throttle only but Ep can't. However, geared hubs like the Ep have better torque but less top end than gearless like is in the Engine. But the engine has more juice flowing through it.
Thanks! I love the rear suspension, the airdraulic forks, portability, and Mongo-Rack! Maybe add better handlebars, twist throttle and rearview mirrors...
@@e-VRC My G-Force T42 arrived yesterday on my 73rd bday. It's my Super 73 bike! lol... Love it actually. $849 got me 750/1100W motor, 48V 11.2AH batt, fenders, Awesome H.D. Rack, Does 36mph freewheeling,.. Headlight/horn, tail/brake lights, Hydraulic Brakes/180mm rear, 160mm front. But it's Huge! 33" min seat ht. 10" ground clearance to the chain ring guard... It's basically the Engine Pro less rear suspension and $600...
@@johnw65 that's awesome. I love the look of their bikes. I spoke to them and they don't ship to the UK right now but when they do they'll send one for a video. Enjoy it then they are so cool! 🤟👍👍
Am I the only one who thinks Engine Pro is much better? It's $300 more but it also has much better quality details... And you pay for safety, better screen, safer, more comfortable wheel support. And it's more bodied.
@@e-VRC i agree… I've been seeing that there is the option to buy the ebike through alibaba from Chinese suppliers with stock in Europe, it's around $1080 to Engine Pro. Will it be a good purchase option? 😅
So the engine pro has less torque? Oh no. Its a nice looking bike, and they are doing a special with a spare battery right now. I'm so confused some of the comments says it's more powerful 😤
@@e-VRC I see. Its looks nice in that navy colour. What's you're view on the spare battery thing, are the handy enough to fit in a back pack, Do you really need one? Its kinda tempting to go for that deal.
Hello there I’m having some trouble on my ep2 The pedals aren’t working only my throttle but that’s not legal in my country How can I fix this The bike is not one year old I bought it last June Thanks in advance
02:48, that's not good. It didn't take much to chip it. It only has a dusting of paint on it.! 😳 How is that micron thick paint going to last with stones being thrown up from the front tyre?
Good afternoon, do you know the length of these electro fatbikes, one and the other?I apologize for the mistakes, I'm writing to Google translator.66in?68in?
Have you tried your kid's saddle to your engine pro? I'm currently looking for a saddle for my daughter ,all i see are having 120 - 175mm wide, but the engine pro almost got 203mm wide for it's carrier. Thanks
THe Engine Pro Has hydraulic brakes, usb charger, slightly higher range and batter capacity. I do wonder how those hydraulic brakes work, I gues they have oil inside? Havnt heard anyone state it.
It's like a fluid. When you pull the lever it pushes the fluid down the tubes against the caliper which causes it to close around the disc. They're so nice. Never used them before this bike.
Great Video! Can i ask, i brought the EP-2 Pro thinking i was buying the Engine Pro, rushed purchase! question! do you think you could change screens? i prefer the colour screen :)
Hi bro I just got the enguwie pro black red I get in speed 24to 25kmh how can I make it faster without risking messing it up I paid 1300 only last week for it in shop in Dublin tallagh Ireland but they put it together for me now weather has been shit but I used it 3 times only so far love it I'd like it to be bit pokyer daughter has scooter does 24kmh too but bike is 2vtimes as fast is there any gears I should keep it in for fastest all time
@@paulgtal Aside from the fact that I am not a native English speaker, my comment was never about spelling (or any other grammar aspect), but about "mechanical" vs "hydraulic" disk brakes. So maybe you want to re-watch the passage in question and get your reaction in order? A "buddy" would do that... ;-)
If the hook bothers you, get a second slimmer axle bolt, tighten it over the first, I’ve been cycling for over 50 years now and never known a front or rear wheel come loose (with rider error of course it’s possible, ie not tightening the axle properly…)
I am a big fan of slightly under torqueing - but with a decent lock washer and/or additional threadlock. There is more than one way to make things safe without compromising the thread itself.
WARNING: !!!! Bought mine in 2020 so I didn't have to use public transport in London. I have ridden it almost every day, a round trip of about 5 miles, and I would fold it and keep it in my house when not in use.. Today, as I was about to head home, the frame snapped just behind the hinge. The bike is now in two pieces and nothing more than a pile of junk.
Hey matey, tha ks for video. I have the Engwe Engine pro and the misses has ordered the Engwe pro 2. She rides our daughter to school who is 6 and. What seat you using on the pro 2 to take your son around as we will need to get a new seat. Cheers
Hey! There's a link in the description but it's often out of stock. However there are a few that look similar on amazon and despite differing review scores they're usually the same. Definitely a decent purchase and cool to be able to ride the little ones around, they love it 👍
@e-VRC yeah cheers. Found it. Bike turned up today......along with the snow! Doh! My first ride I'm going to take down by birmingham airport through Sheldon Park so should be able to really push it if not too many people around! 👍
Hi..the saddle seat for your son... where did you get it and is there a place for his feet? looking to get one for my daughter..get review and I bought the engine pro
Hello, hope you are doing well! Thanks a lot for the review! I've searched through million reviews, and thanks a lot, seems you are among few people who using this bike with childseat! Could you pls advise, if you are pedalling, if it's still enough place for child legs? I really want to buy bike more powerful then 250w and wth throttle in EU (Netherlands) and use it with childseat and seems that's one of few affordable models, but still not sure if there would be enough space fpr kid. And second question, how do you think, would it be possible to use this bike with the childseat like Hamax (with loker)? Thanks a lot!
Hi, thanks for your video! I am about to buy the Engwe EP-2 and I would like to transport my 6 year old son in the rear rack with a system similar to yours. Do you think the system is safe? Does the rack hold 25 kg well? Thanks in advance.
If you are wanting to take a kid on the back it might be worth looking at a rad power bikes radrunner or radrunner Plus. They are a little bit more expensive but are built for the task with motorcycle style foot pegs etc.
Unless you've got a wheel guard and foot pegs I really wouldn't carry your child on it. It would be so easy for your his/her foot to become entangled it the wheel. Serious injury no doubt.
Thanks for review, do you know if you can lock the throttle on these bikes to the 25km/h for EU regulations. I know Engine X throttle is locked to 25km/h, can be unlocked, I'm in Ireland, only seen Engine X on the roads. I'd love to get an X26 or M20 but I'd need theory test, tax and insurance, bright jacket, number plate to use it on roads.
Totally up to you. I probably wouldn't go with ebay. Maybe amazon if the seller is trusted with lots of great reviews and delivery time suits you, otherwise use their official site.
In the UK do these bikes need to be registered and insured if they go 45km/h? I'm in France and need to debate getting this bike and paying insurance on it or buying something that goes slower. These e-bike laws are a shame.
Hi mate,, thanks for this vid , very informative ..Have you had the opportunity to test the latest full suspension Engwe 750 watt the 17a battery ,if so is it worth the extra ££’s.. also can you recommend a UK Dealer for the Engwe . Alan ( new sub)
Hey there. No I've not tried another Engwe since the Engine pro. I'm not aware of any uk engwe dealers, most people I've spoken to get it direct from Engwe. There's a few uk stores that stock them from a google search but I've not had experience with any of the stores unfortunately.
I love the company but apparently they aren't available in America, unless I made a mistake searching online. How can I buy an ebike from a company that's overseas from where I live in New York.
I assumed they do ship to america. Companies have warehouses in different parts of the world to allow them to ship bikes there. Often UK get bikes from German warehouses. There is an affiliate link in the description that takes you to the US site 👍
@@e-VRC they ship yes absolutely But I don't like buying an ebike from a company based overseas where you can't make a local phone call within the USA if you need customer service
@@stevenlawrence5733 oh sorry it was rhetorical! Sorry I get ya. Yeah that is a conundrum. I see it as it's much cheaper. So if something is broken they can send the parts and then we can either sort it ourself or pay a little for the local bike / scooter shop to do it. You pay extra to buy local and some will prefer that.
I don't sell parts. You can get things like bmx handlebars from ebay or amazon though. The p26 is nice and has a low bar. I've done a first look and first ride of that bike. It's very nice!
When I looked into this bike. It doesn't come fitted with the throttle. It has been disconnected to comply with UK laws. The throttle is in the box but not connected. A bit strange them doing that knowing how our laws are. It's like turning a blind eye to it.
@@e-VRC I get sick of it in the end with went with the ado 20 plus rather than the Fat tire as it just screams look at me.. I want to insure it, people will steel these bikes given any chance chance.
I just got rid of my unlocked Mate X 750w, 18 months of fun but expensive, im looking at the Engine Pro as its £1250 UK sourced and new, you reckon its about the same as my Mate X in terms of speed etc? TIA!!
Do you recommend the EP-2 PRO for driving on the campus and visiting some places in a small town? Or do you think worth expending more 350 dollars to get the Engine PRO version? Also, I want to know if you had some problem with the customer support, I read some stuff about people having problem to talk to them and I got a little bit worried about it... This is the best bike I found in the $1.050,00 price range and I would love to know your opinion about these stuff I talked, thanks!
For what you want the ep2 pro will be fine. Engine pro has lots of nice stuff but not needed for what you want. I'm not sure about customer support though since they sent the bike for review.
4:50 you have this the wrong way round. Mechanical brakes, you have to pull harder to increase the braking force. Hydraulic brakes will give you much better braking force with less effort. Hydraulic are always better.
Just wanted to tell you the pro isn’t worth it as the ep 2 pro can be upgraded to the same hydraulic brakes. You can put on zoom hydraulic brakes for massive performance gains there. Then controller and dual battery upgrade
All engwe-low quality bikes. I bought engine pro-black upgrated version, some bolts is too long, should cut them. Some small wrong shape bolts was changed. Some bolts was not tighted from factory-made that. Paint is not from povder done-it's cheapest painted from airpistol-easy to scratch. Skin is not straight sewed on bike saddle. Welding on aluminium frame is not so beautiful and accurated, as machine welding. The buttons and gear numbers without backlight, you can see nothing at night driving. Charging port is 0,5 ampers, you can't charge your phone. Rubber plug on charging port is not so soft, and can't close hole hermetically. No hermetisation gasket on folding place on the frame, water comes in slowly on rain. Handle to lift up bike is too short for small hand, and no balance, when you lift it up. There is much problems on engwe bikes. What about relable electronics, I don't know, but I saw negative comments on amazon about engine pro controller. There is weak frame place on back suspension fork-very thin(where back fender bolt is screwed in)-can broke after some years. Of cource same bike with ideal quality could not costs 1100€, it should be cost around 3000€ p.s. and ignition key place without any protection, water coming in while driving over puddle.
It's because you don't have to pull the brakes as hard. They pull the same if you can pull the mechanical brakes hard. But i think hydraulic brakes get to their max braking force slightly faster.
Has anyone bought the spare battery. Is it worth the extra few hundred euro? Obviously, in theory, you can double the life span of your e bike, but is it gimmicky? A battery should last it's cycle's.
I think the only good reason to buy it is if you want to travel with it to double range. Most of the time you'd have one battery just sitting there discharging. You could swap the batteries every time but that would quickly become a chore.
@@HitchHikersBlues it would fit but it is a bit heavy. You can see the batteries on my battery swap video - I hold them so you can get a feel for the weight.
@@e-VRC How heavy are the engwe batteries roughly? Oh I see yeah. I'm just wondering is it worth spending the extra 150 for the spare battery. Decisions decisions.
What about the ADO XEs? I like my A20 but the only thing that annoyed me on my A20 was the stand could not be adjusted. If you tried to alter it it wouldn't tighten meaning I had to spend £15 in Halfords buying a new stand that is bright silver against black! I did msg Mark4shop and Mark sent a vid on how to adjust it. However, in a later phone call he admitted that he'd had the same problem as me and the stand was fkn shite! This reason is why I never gave them a review on Trustpilot despite their customer service being otherwise above excellent. If Mark4shop read this and refund me my £15, actually; let's say £20 for petrol and time wasted in faffing about then I will give them top marks. However, I don't think Mark or Alice watch your channel so... 😭
@@e-VRC Because that could be seen as them bribing me haha. It doesn't really matter as I'll probably buy my next ebike from them as well when I choose to upgrade so at least they have a loyal customer... Despite the shitty stand issue.
You should be ashamed of of yourself for promoting this company. Do NOT deal with this company... you will not receive the bike within the 3 to 10 workings days. I ordered the bike end of April. I have just received an email stating it will be June before they can ship it to the EU, but not before I provide them with VAT and EORI NUMBERS? The bikes are not in a EU warehouse, they are shipped from China. I should have looked at reviews before I placed my order as it seems to be a common trait with this company. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY!
Turn the offset it looks like they’ve got a higher quality set of folks at the front, it also looks like the lighting is a lot higher quality as well on the engine
So you'll be experiencing famous Chinese quality: screws get rusty after 4 rains, misaligned brake callipers, noise from the motor starts to appear when you're going up to the hill in 2-3 months . And speed of the bike is different depends on the battery charge. And Chinese manufacture dose not provide real numbers for power ...Zero support. But cheap and not bad as a first e-bike. But no way to buy it again )) Reply
