this company sent me a x26 that is defective with batt stuck in bike engwes fix use screwdriver to pry out not included in tool kit or bring to shop pay $300 and wait for check on brand new bike they also asked me to lie via email
Thank you. I was attracted to the design, fold and power but from your video I can clearly see that it isn't matching what I'm idealising. The range, the suspensions, were good selling points. But the weight of 40kg is unreal and defeats the purpose of a fold. Thanks for a great video.
A very capable bike for sure Chris! But I agree it's kinda having an identity Crisis. The concept of a back up battery is really great, but needs better implementation though. And that 40 kg weight is like the weight of a small scooter! Thank you for another great review Sir Chris 👏👏👍
That rear seat setup makes a great riding position with old school chooper handlebars and chooper saddle bit like old school low rider beach cruiser 🤠👌
Mine has a KT controller and 48v battery, 28-29 mph dropping to around 25 near empty battery, And best of all, 2 mins in the settings and change speed to 15mph and throttle to 6kph and its fully uk legal.
I got this Bike a few weeks ago and they have worked out a lot of those issues, no longer no port to charge the frame battery and no need to place the cable from one battery to another, but their support sucks!
I was really thinking this ebike was a lot better than my Lectric ebike, but seeing this review, I would still go with the Lectric 3,0. Even though it looks better, most of the functions that make it seem better, are just for looks. Yet it has a much bigger price tag.
I must say that electric bike got the most watt hours at its given price. ENGWE X26 ($1,899) got 1,401.6 watt hours while another bike I know have huge watt hours is Magicycle Cruiser Pro ($1,899) with 1,040 watt hours. Electric bikes with massive watt hours are my favorite.
Going to buy it also, but going to change the battery system on the middle battery. The seller suggested a guy who can just switch it to the side, so i don't need to pull out the second battery every time i want to charge it :)
All in frame engwe batteries like a small felt pad sticking at the far end to stop them rattling. On that battery rattling can cut the motor . Easy fix. Drill a hole to charge that battery in frame. More easy.
Exactly - I also have another Chinese unit - ShengMiLo MX01 (again 26" fats) - foldable, removable (single) battery) a chassis-port - why did Engwe miss this off ?! Will see how I get on (just got it yesterday!) & if edges are all rounded off, shouldn't lead to stress-fractures 🙂 - a rubber bung, and done
I have an older e-bike that weighs about the same., I've only ever run out of power once. I had to push it. Never again. Those things are impossible to push when they are that heavy. Goes like lightening when it's charged but don't ever let the battery go dead.
Yes they are and now you'll understand why when I review them I don't run the batteries right down anymore. I use to but after pushing an ebike home 8km up a hill in the heat it almost killed me never again! At least with this bike you can plug in the reserve battery and get home. Now I run bike's down to 50% maybe 30% and work out the range from there. Normally the last 40-30% also goes down a lot quicker as the voltage starts to dropped off... So getting 40kms with 50% does not mean you can do 40km more, more like 25km more.
perfect for me when its foldable like this, i can just chuck it into my apartment, in one of my tiny storage rooms. granted, it might fit unfolded but hey, more space is better :)
Just got a bit of a close up in the video on the left side and it doesn't look like you have the external charging port i have on this same model for the folding battery or maybe i just missed it. Mines the grey x26 as well.
I wonder if this would not be better placed into the market as a small motorcycle. Of course the batteries should be running together, and the rear needs a better shock absorber.
The cable ideal is a bit of a worry long term if you swap it over a lot it might wear the plug out and later give problems. But for now it seems to clip in nicely.
@@Techtablets good if a young kid can keep their legs stuck out for a couple blocks or short trip down the street.. Otherwise better find some kind of aftermarket pegs like big motorcycles attach to the engine guards and use as highway pegs to extend their legs out on long rides..
I didn't notice the charging socket in the seat bar battery so i'll check but the one i got can charge the battery in the folding part with a charging socket on the left side with a rubber plug you remove and dont need to remove it and assumed both charged at same time. But i'd like to know how to lock it in. Manual says clockwise to remove but that doesn't sound right to me. Is it anticlockwise to lock or clockwise to lock the folding battery with the key ?
Okay but did you understand? Normally with bikes even in NZ we talk in inches. But to best describe the middle shock mm was best since it barely even moves!
BEAUTIFUL LOCATION. Cant you adjust the rear shocks?? I mean it would be dumb for a company to sink all this R&D, trial and error, in to a bike and not realize this stuff with the back shocks. There's got to be something that fan be done?
A FRONT motor of 2000w would be dangerous. When entering corners and accidentally push the accelerator too much you would wipe out. Since it's front wheel spinning out, you wouldn't have the chance to keep the bike up right, like you could with central og back hub motor.
1 .i would change the rear and middle absorbers with a better quality chinese 200 euros cost extra , 2. the weight its gonna be high due to double battery , cant avoid it or say is a bad thing, i mean if you had titanium material it would cost 10000 euros, i mean its unavoidable, 3. its a huge bike but fits in a car folded
Hi, more the rear shocks and that frame style added a lot of extra weight they could have made it a bit lighter I feel. But yes for a foldable it's not bad with such heavy rims and tires.
The shocks on this model aren't amazing as I showed the rear shock has little travel. The tires soak up most bumps. Esthetics of it, well it certainly looks different!
feature crazy, jack of all trades but pricey. terrible two-battery solution, the terminal and cable will become loose in just a few years. what they should have done have is main battery to be fixed with powertrain while 2nd battery as backup/parallel power using that cable.
I think for the price you get the bike stock for, a few minor upgrades make sense. Had they put crazy good components it probably would've ballooned the price up. I'm a heavier guy looking to get an ebike to Doordarsh in my off time and need something with good suspension because the cargo ebike I got didn't and the spokes broke twice. I'm hoping maybe with better parts put into it it'll be able to handle me and some small cargo. Great review.
Different style of bike, but no. The GF750 is still one of my favorites with it's style and 1000W x 2 it's very quick. Soon I have another 1000W x 2 bike but 26" coming. And later a 27.5" bike from Gogo best.
@@Techtablets if i put 100 pounds will be ok ? 50 pounds sounds recommended but i need just 100 pounds because i have delivery bag and food. I do uber eats.
So far the Himiway cruiser i'm testing right now is very good for the price for a cruisy fat wheel ebike that's about $1599. But my favorite so far is the GoGo Best GF750 dual motor fat wheel that's more motorbike than bike, such a power and fun bike to ride about on.
What's your thought about the height. I'm 5' 5" tall would it be ok for me to get one? This is the bike I'm looking for, a heavy one almost like a motorbike.
I like the review overall and agree with many of your criticisms, but I felt there was plenty of room for more nuance given the features and price point. Obviously if you compare it to top of the line bikes in their own respective categories it will fall flat, but a fairer outlook imo is seeing it as a value for money prospect that can somewhat fill many different use cases at a low price point. At times it felt like you were comparing fiat to ferrari. "The frame isn't top of the range" "it's not an MTB" "I can't pedal a 40kg bike uphill without assist." ...well, obviously. It's a fiat, not a ferrari.
Yes it maybe have but I'm comparing it to the other ebike I have reviewed. For example the middle shock no brand yes, but other no brad shocks have been a lot better. They should have used a better one. The weight is a hard one to balance due to the size, rims and twin batteries it will always be heavy.
What other ebikes offer similar specs at a similar price point? Genuinely curious because I might eventually go and buy one. Not everyone has 3'000-10'000 for a bicycle, for that money I would go for a Silence S01 or even some sort of Zero.

My battery would get stuck from time to time just check all the screws on the battery when you finally get it out sometimes they losen and can make taking it out a massive challenge. But once I did that I had no more issues.
@topdog43 Unfortunately, mine came from factory with stuck battery and was hanging up on weld. my issue is that they know this is an issue yet are still sending out and then put it on customer to fix.
The front shock is the best but the other two, mid and rear barely any travel! I was expecting a bit more than what they have, so just for show. Of course sine it's 40 kilos it needs the power otherwise it will go no where.
60kg person+40kg bike. 80kg person +20kg bike. Needs same power. So that 10-20kg bike weight difference is small. Compared to peoples weight diff. You cannot say that bike needs 1000w, no. It can ride also with 500w. Just not with the heavy rider on top.
