Only for once case, it doesn't work. And that is, if your permalink contains some front like: /blog/%postname%/ then it doesn't work.

Earlier I did this in another way I registered new post format or created new post template, so I loaded needed php template but you way is even better thank you for useful tutorial ! good luck)

Hello Joshua, I would like to know if the solution you presented still works these days? I'm asking because I've read that all kinds of solutions that worked in the past to remove Custom Post Type Prefix over time stopped working with WordPress version updates.
