Super clean explanation! Perfect. Would love to see something similar with keyframing. I still feel Resolve's timeline keyframes for transforms and pretty much anything are still stuck in the dark ages compared to AE, just feels clunky. May or may not be me ;)
@team2films
@team2films Год назад
Yes there is room for improvement. Although comparing it to AE is apples and oranges. It’s on par or perhaps slightly better than Premiere’s system, but it would be great if it was as good as AE’s system one day. Thanks for watching and commenting.

This tutorial is realy nice, and I will check out what more you have. I am a subscriber now. I jumped from FCP to DaVinci a few weeks ago, and its modern layout and several way to do things are placing FCP in the shadow, and I heard that AP is the worse of these 3 programs all over. For me there is no way back to FCP.

Hi, you folks make great videos and we appreciate it. Question for you: would you suggest I always shoot at like 60fps so that it affords a cleaner ramp down? I mean, I cannot imagine a videographer always plans every single clip that they intend to slow down in post. I’ve been thinking about this a lot. For instance, during most sport broadcast events they show replays in slow-mo and it looks super clean. It leads me to believe that they shoot like 120fps always. Thoughts on this? Best to you!!
@team2films
@team2films 9 месяцев назад
Thanks so much! Yes, sports broadcasters will have cameras shooting high frame rates. It’s often being recorded into a limited buffer that is continuously overwritten. An operator has a period of time to pull clips as necessary. Here’s a tip for if you want to ‘shoot some just in case slow motion’: shoot at a multiple of your base frame rate, I.e. if you are shooting 23.976 then shoot at 47.952. That makes it really easy to get real-time playback by just doubling the speed. That said, a lot to cinematographers will have a clear concept in mind before filming slow motion. Naturally there are some that won’t too! Thanks for watching and commenting. Hope that helps!
@dougdina
@dougdina 9 месяцев назад
@@team2films Ahhhh … that makes sense, re: the limited buffer for broadcast cameras. As I live in France, I shoot either 25 or 50fps. I’ve previously done some tests by shooting at 50fps then viewed it at 25fps in DR and it looked pretty good. So, hopefully I’ll have my game face on and switch to 50fps when I know I want to slow-mo it in post. Thanks for responding & offering your advice. Kind regards, Doug

@synthcrazymtl414

You know what would make it more professional? Have a microphone setup that doesn't pick up your gigantic mouse clicks.... Or you should invest in an audio declic plugin. That would make your channel top notch. Because the lighting, the voice, and everything else is nice and clean/clear. Good luck on your channel
@team2films
@team2films Год назад
Thanks so much! Actually we use two microphones. One for voice and a second microphone positioned next to the mouse to deliberatly capture the clicks to enhance the teaching. It helps viewers to follow along with when and where we are clicking. Haha! Maybe you felt differently about that? Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
@synthcrazymtl414
@synthcrazymtl414 Год назад
@@team2films maybe you should try a visual mouse clicks then... If you watch RU-vidrs that do the same thing as you, I mean the ones that have your professional visual look, nobody is leaking mouse clicks. This is very passé, like 2005, or from people that don't have enough money to buy a good microphone and only have an omnidirectional that is positioned above the head. Anyhow, feel free to use my comments as you want... It's your channel, it's just that you put so much effort on getting to the next level visually and sound wise, that I felt that this was just lowering the quality of your channel. Good luck with it and keep on the good work
@team2films
@team2films Год назад
Thanks for your kind comments. Yeah, just to reiterate, we're not 'leaking' them! It's quite deliberate. And they are mic'd very close for the best possible sound quality. But I think you are right that they are too prominent. They are too loud in this video. Going to have a look at this process and see what refinements we can make. Thanks, please continue to provide feedback. It's valuable to us. Maybe we'll get it to a place that hits right for you. Once again, thanks for your continued engagement.

when I close the ramp & retime curve options to go back to a normal time line edit, the entire timeline shifts awkwardly to a downwards position hiding most of the entire timeline (which makes me do one step to pull it back to the middle). Why is it so? I do not know about the studio version but It does all the time in my free version.

Yeah, I know what you mean. It would be nice if the UI repositioned the timeline after you closed the retime tool. Perhaps post about it in the official blackmagic forum?

@team2films
@team2films 8 месяцев назад
Ooo! Good question. That's a tough one, and I'm not sure if we have a good answer for that. Bezier handles usually come in pairs and are linked in typical use. That means you can control one with the other. Given where the clip stops and starts is this sufficient for you to be able to edit those curves?
