As far as I know in figure skating, in Asia, there are only 3 male athletes who had documentary and interview in TV program when they were still JUNIOR/CHILDREN. They are: Yuzuru Hanyu (Japan), Cha Jun Hwan (South Korea) and Park Sung Hoon. Yuzuru Hanyu and Cha Jun Hwan now are Olympic athletes. SBS TV made this documentary program because Sunghoon had great potential to be next Olympic athlete in the future. When Sunghoon chose to be an Idol, his mother disagreed in the beginning. Because he had big potential to be an Olympic athlete.

man im a kpop and figure skating fan and i really do feel like sunghoon couldve been on the korean national team for figure skating if he had continued. i watch yuzuru hanyu a lot and i feel that sunghoon had the same sort of spark in his younger years. if he had improved more on his jumps, adding more quads and polish the technique, i rlly think he couldve gone to the olympics as well!! it takes a lot to switch from something youve been doing for a while to something such as idol life but man hes just too good at skating
