The step with "force" is not needed. There is a way to manipulate the tail piece around to get it in the proper position, which i believe to be the intended solution since i have yet to come across any hanayama puzzle that requires any amount of force, including the helix👍
Great video. My first time following a video with this puzzle was with The Puzzle Guy and I assembled it backwards. I could not figure out what was going on so ended up buying another one. Thanks for explaining the backward mistake. I now have two working enigma puzzles.
OMG I saw a guy on the bus doing this and i asked him what it was. He gave it to me (generous). I found this video and now i see he put it together wrong. But if it went together it must come apart somehow! He has the short tail piece in the wrong hole of the circle piece. Im screwed! What do I do if it's not assembled correctly?
You won't believe it, I bought this puzzle to entertain myself on a 4 hour flight but ended up being curious and opened it days before my flight. Few minutes into fiddling with it I literally was just wildly flinging it around and at some stage after the first piece pulled apart successfully just by accident 😆 had to watch your video on how to put the pieces back but I managed to accidentally "solve" this grandmaster level puzzle with sheer luck!!!!
Hi Ross, following the comment I made in the video where you solve the Enigma puzzle, I will tell you that your statement you are making at 4:05' that you need a little bit of force to move one tailend under the other can be avoided by making a beautiful move which I will try to record
Thanks man. I don't feel to bad using a video to solve this and this is the 4th video I've watched. Your video was definitely the best and easiest to follow.
You need to admit that you made a mistake by showing forcing the long tail over the short tail or visa versa is not solving it. That’s just one way to take it apart but it’s not solving it. Give me some pliers and I’ll show you another way to take it apart. To solve it, no force is required anywhere.
This was hands down the worst tutorial. I have ever watched on RU-vid. I have followed it step-by-step. And it ruined the puzzle, it is stuck and nobody can get it unstuck.
Not sure if anyone cares but if you guys are stoned like me atm you can stream pretty much all of the new movies and series on InstaFlixxer. I've been watching with my gf recently =)
Have you seen the new Hanayama puzzle coming out this month? The Hanayama Slider.. only a level 3, wish it was atleast a 4+ but who knows could still be a challenge! I can’t wait to try it.
Yeah, I saw it last week. I can't find a date for release though, the only thing I've seen is the 'end of June' but it usually takes a few weeks to get to the UK stores. To be honest, I'm looking forward to an easier, new puzzle. The last 2 (Hourglass & UFO) have been 2 of the hardest I've done!
Yea I couldn’t find an exact release date either... I’m not sure if it will be available in the states then or not. I highly doubt it. I know the ufo was out in Japan way before it was available in the usa.
The step where you need a bit of force doesn't really require force if you turn it and do it just a bit differently. I feel that not forcing it is better. Great video tho!
Sorry but I don’t agree, u may have one that is slightly bent that works without the small force. Of course without force is better. If there was any way to turn it so no force is necessary, i wldve found it. Correct me if im wrong Ross, were u able to find a way without that force?
Sal Armlock sorry to say, but you are actually wrong. There is a move to turn the piece around without using force, you just brute forced the puzzle to solve it :o
Totally correct. There is a way to manipulate the tail piece around so zero force is needed, which i believe is the intended solution. Just like the helix, all those arguing that any amount of force is needed just haven't found the correct move yet. I have yet to see any hanayama that needs one bit of force.
I went to search for this comment, the move with force is cheating because there is an elaborate way to manipulate the pieces and then there is absolutely 0 force involved!
I disassembled it, now im stuck cause i accidently switch around the circle part and i cant get it unlocked anymore, to get into the proper starting Position
Very interesting I've solved this puzzle a number of times. This is first time watching a solution for it and your solution is slightly different than mine. When both the long tail and circle are on the loop the short tail my method of switching I do the opposite. It would be difficult to explain without showing you. Your method does look easier though.
Hey Ross my puzzle is in a position where it's just before solved but none of the notches can move and I can't move it to solved. I have a picture on my channel
I'm new to the Huzzle puzzle world and your video solutions are always a very big help that I can usually follow well. With this Enigma puzzle, however, I found that in the end, solving the last two elements works without that slight pressing motion over the long puzzle part. I also think that this never has to be the case if the puzzle is to be solved correctly. In this case, it is in any case possible to solve every piece from each other without any kind of slight force.
Your right. At the time, I didn't know the proper solution, hence the slight force required for the last move. The other way is the correct one though.
After I got it done, i watched your solution and wow I agree with everyone , you arte THEE best at showing how to do it , the ONLY way too I think . There is a possible second way at a single point but I cannot recall it . Great video ! I think you are probably encouraging people to buy a lot of puzzles, ..............hanayama should be sending you a paycheck !
Hey man… I apologize. I obviously was getting frustrated, and I know there exists videos made at speed, so you can hit stop and play. Stop pause play For the record, I did finally get it done and solved, though! So, thank you ! And, keep up the great work. I’m so embarrassed I never saw that little shallow ridge on the side, the very first step, ugh!
F**k i was stuck at 3:12 i was so focused on the flat bit and the gaps i didnt even consider i could get the tail end through! Thats all i needed i figured out the rest easy. Tho im disappointed that i even needed that hint. I was so focused on o n aspect of it. I ignored i part i thought would be impossible.
Manage to solve this puzzle after numerous tries and drop by here as i m keen to see the solution from others. This is indeed one of the best solution i seen however I noticed the last step at 4min requires some force to push the long tail over short tail and it may not be the best approach. Instead position the long tail facing up inside the short tail hole against the small little flat curve and twist it to the left. That will do the job too with lesser force.
Your descriptions on how to solves all the different Hanayama puzzles are the best on youtube. By far and away the most logical and easiest to follow. (And your room wall paper makes me smile every time without fail!!). Awesome Dude - Peace11
