Mom played this over and over when I was 9 years old. It was the most beautiful sound I’d ever heard and I would ask her to play it again every time we were on the road. She passed away last year while I was living in Thailand and when I came back to pack her things and have her car detailed, this randomly came on through her CD player while I was in reminiscence of her. She was such a beautiful woman. Rest In Peace momma. Will see you again one day...

I dedicate this song to all the people in the USA. When I was a child, me and my parents emigrated to this country. We walked and rode buses from El Salvador to this country, after crossing the border, we hopped a taxi and the cab driver was playing this song and it stuck to my head all this years. Long story short, I am now a Doctor with two offices doing very well, we also travel the country offering medical help to people that dont have the means to pay for care. Two years ago, my girl took me to Santa Monica and we stayed at a hotel by the pier. We checked in and she played this song as soon as she closed the door. It was the first time we made love and it was magical. We didn't leave that place for a week and we listened to this band the whole time. I was 45 when this fist came out. Loved it from the first time I heard it. The Gregorian Chant has always been very mystical and haunting. The sound of them singing in church echoing everywhere is totally captivating to me. Maybe it's my Italian, Catholic background, I don't know. Bringing it into a new Era at the time was quite daring. It still works today. I'll be 78 in April and I still love to hear this. 🙏💙

I discovered this EPIC masterpiece back in the 90's from one of my older brother. Just now and out of nowhere, this haunting tune emerged out of the depth of my mind and I had to search for it again. No other tune has such a profound effect on me. Enigma for life ❤

Few people know who was behind the "band" Enigma. It was not a band really but rather the personal project of Romanian-Austrian musician and producer Michael Cretu. Cretu was the husband of German-French singer Sandra, formerly a singer of disco ensemble Arabesque, whose personal album he had written and produced in 1985 with hits such as "Maria Magdalena" (one of the biggest hits of the 1980s). Cretu was a classically trained pianist and composer but he loved pop music since a young age and hence he worked as a session musician, band member and producer in many different projects in Germany and UK including having co-produced Mike Oldfield's 1987 album "Islands". At the same time he was writing and producing his wife Sandra's 3rd personal album "Into a Secret Land" that would be issued the next year, which was compositionally less pop, more complex, and interestingly had included as an intro a brief sample of Gregorian chants. Oldfield greatly appreciated Cretu's mastery and talent and encouraged him to concentrate on writing and producing music of his own. Cretu heeded the advise and since 1988 started working on his own project which he called Enigma. As he said, he wanted to make music that he likes to listen himself, with a touch of magic and mysticism. Once he was about to release the album he told Sandra "Either this will become a huge hit or a complete flop", so he was not at all surprised when it indeed became a huge hit. Back in 1990, it was clear since the first moment that Enigma was that sort of music that would remain timeless. Enigma was liked by all, not just pop and electro fans but by hard rockers and heavy metal fans alike and influenced greatly a large range of genres. And yet Michael Cretu never placed himself forward, he was a very private man. You can mostly see him in Sandra's video clips such as playing the bass and singing in Sandra's 1985 "Maria Magdalena". You wouldn't believe that this stereotypically 1980s pop-looking guy would be behind Enigma!

This song reminds me of my girlfriend sarah, whenever we stayed at home to relax we used this song, sarah developed terminal cancer over the years, she wanted to die at home, one of the last good moments of her life was when we lay in room with the fireplace lit, a good pizza and this music playing in the background. 90´s They always put this song in stores as a "demo" to sell Hi-Fi equipment. And with the "reverb" that it already has, it sounded great even on the phone. Not the equipment, nor hi-fi, nor anything. With this, even the fax sounded great.
