I end up replacing the phone holder on every tripod with this one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-c1PrDxSJKWM.html - It gives me superior control, I can fit my phone into it when it is in it's case (though I usually remove the case), and I LOVE shoe mounts on both sides of it.
