I know that most people come to watch these videos for Vanlife and Van Build related content, but I took a little break from the van build to head to the family cottage… Also, sometimes I just feel like creating something a little different. My goal when starting this RU-vid channel was to challenge myself with something new and have fun doing it but also to allow people to get to know me better. Vanlife really is a small part of who I am and what excites me and I'm hoping that through some of these videos, others can get to know me.

Camping in northern Ontario mostly, since that's where I spent my summers as a young boy. It's killing me that provincial parks are closed for camping, but of course I know it's for the best. Looks like you have a lovely cottage environment that you and your family have created over time and generations. I think in the last couple of years I've really grown to see the value of creating these memories and creating nostalgia. You've done a really nice job at portraying that in your video and it almost feels like us viewers are experiencing that renewed feeling with you. It truly is one of the most powerful feelings I think - nostalgia. Thanks for a great video, Scott.

How lucky and lovely for you to have such an amazing place for you and your family to enjoy. I loved how as you pulled up even your dog whined in excitement as you guys arrived. Craftsman skills handed down from father to son are priceless both in skills learned and memories created. This may be my favorite video so far. Once again thanks for taking us along on your trip home. This video makes me miss my parents so much and treasure and relive my memories of them so thank you for that. ❤️🚐

What a lovely video Scott, I follow your Van Build content but this was a lovely contrast. As you say, its good to experiment/challenge yourself while keeping a narrative. Keep up the good work 🙂👍🙏

Scott..you should be having that Morning Coffee in your shop van building!!! Family time,, FISHING!!! You haven’t got time for that summer is almost over!! Love the dogs shared joy in being home. What a beautiful spot on earth..nice trailbike❤️

I think my father is trying to create a similar family tradition. About a decade ago, he bought a lakeside cabin in very northern MN, purchased a good bit of land around it, built onto the cabin, put in a dock, and so forth. *So* very many projects. He has particularly enjoyed the nighttime wildlife images captured by the motion-detecting cameras he put up amongst the birch. Anyhow, I appreciate the video. I am getting it, though I think it will be the next generation of our family that fully grasps the feeling you describe. Thank you, Scott.

Ahh that “summertime holiday feeling” we’re in Oz, so the opposite now-cold & wet! Every summer I took the kids to the caravan park at the beach - on the trip down it was always a competition to see who could “see the sea” first - who could their breathe the longest crossing the bridge to the island (Cowes) - we were all excited - it was our place of rest and fun - even cramped into a caravan & annexe - even if it rained (we did Wasijig jigsaws) - we did it together - walked the beach - built giant sandcastles (the boys purchased a snow shovel with their Christmas money) and moats the envy of other children (& some parents) - my children have grown - the caravan sold - and there is no more endless summer days at the beach together - I’m waiting for the next generation to grow but alas it may not be caravan camping in the summer. Scott be SO thankful for the permanence of your cottage (a priceless jewel) and the generational input - I wish our summer abode had been permanent so to bring everyone ‘home’ each summer. But the beach & sea still bring me peace and joy whenever I first ‘spot it in the distance’ and when I walk along it’s shores - I even catch myself holding my breathe as I drive across the bridge to the island. Enjoy your family’s jewel. 😀

Thank you scott for sharing such a beautiful and personal part of your good life. Your gorgeous visuals add such a fine layer to your words. I loved the lingering images of shoes, fishing poles and pup in the boat as it gently moved across the water...you could almost feel the serenity you spoke of. I have a few good lives... one is home in the backyard with view of a quiet hillside and room for pups to ramble while i decompress from the day and work on a project or do nothing at all. Another is when the northbound Pacific Coast highway leaves the city noise behind and narrows through undisturbed valleys and beaches. Impossible not to stop, take it all in and be grateful. I'm with you, it's the journey not the destination.

So much nostalgia in this, thanks for sharing! (We no longer have our Canadian family cottage that I grew up at, however the memories run deep and without a doubt it created the nature seeking person I am today.)
