I cannot express in words how these interviews between you two absolutely blesses me. Your transparency I so liberating. I can't thank you enough! May you both receive ALL that God has for you both.
God bless you Eric. I have had my eye's opened more about God' Word. The whole Bible speaks of Jesus. When I read PSALMS I read it in first person and as a prayer. The intimacy I feel with Jesus is so pure and joyful.
I have been so blessed listening to you both, to have such a clear picture of justification is amazing, I truly understand it now! Thank you for taking time to share from your hearts with us all.
Honestly this is one of the reasons I believe in OSAS. Not only do I believe the scriptures teach OSAS, but how can someone be justified by faith apart from works if OSAS is not true. If OSAS is not true then I can lose my salvation by my works, hence it will be contradictory for me to believe that my works don't affect my salvation. That's why I see a huge cognitive dissonance amongst those who say our works don't affect our justification but then they go on to say we can lose our salvation if we don't measure up to their standards based on our works. If Paul told us to continue to walk in the same way we received Christ (which was trusting 100% in His blood to save us rather than our works) then OSAS is true. Because if OSAS is not true, we cannot continue in the same way we received Christ because we will have to place some type of trust in our works in order to not fall away if you want to be consistent that OSAS is not true.
“Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.” Romans 8:33-34 KJV
If the atoning lambs and all other Old Testament examples of atonement were spotless and not having their blood shed for their own sin, how can we say Jesus was our substitute? Why can’t Jesus be the lamb slain before the foundation of the world (before sin) and the once and forever sacrifice that would redeem all men back to God? I love the cross. I love that Jesus body was broken for us but I don’t see why we cling to penal substitution and a story that makes God out to be angry and needing appeasement by putting his wrath on His Son? Christus Victor is the best atonement explanation that makes sense of Gods heart, Scripture and every OT example we have of atonement (which had nothing to do with wrath).
