Papaji (H. W. L. Poonja) was an Indian sage and enlightened Guru who embodied and taught Self-enquiry as the direct path to enlightenment, following the example of his Guru, Sri Ramana Maharshi. About Papaji:
Sri H.W.L. Poonja, popularly known as Papaji, was born on October 13, 1910 (or later), in a part of the Punjab that is now in Pakistan.
He had his first direct experience of the Self at the age of six, but he couldn't recognize it.
He met his Master, Sri Ramana Maharshi, in 1944. Shortly afterwards he realized the Self in the presence of his Master.
Being a householder, he continued to work and support the many members of his extended family until his retirement in 1966.
After extensive travel Papaji settled down in Lucknow, India, where he received visitors from around the world.
Papaji left the body on September 6, 1997.
About Sri Ramana Maharshi:
Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi (1879 - 1950) was a great sage and Jivanmukta who lived in Tiruvannamalai, southern India.
He was a spiritual guru of international renown, and he taught Self-enquiry as the direct path to enlightenment. He also suggested the path of Self-surrender for those who find the path of Self-enquiry difficult.

Note: Information shared by David Godman in Papaji's biography - 'Nothing Ever Happened', is slightly different from the same biographical account given in their website (satsangbhavan.net).
For example, related to the childhood experience of Papaji, in the book it is mentioned 'six-year-old-boy' whereas in their website, it is 'eight-year-old-boy', and also few lines are different in their website though essential meaning is the same. So I have managed to take the best out of both, and created this video.
Hope this video will inspire spiritual aspirants.

You know, I understand what you're saying, but my question is, it seems that you're spending all your time in this physical realm trying to block all earthly experiences so that you remain unaffected by them. Why spend so much time meditating and being non physical instead of enjoying your time on earth, the good, bad, and ugly?

Fwiw, David Godman's written a great deal about both Papaji and Bhagavan - their lives and teaching. He's got a YT channel and website that have brought a lot to my life. @@sreejithMU your first Guru is not necessary your last Guru. The great Guru Dattatreya had 24 Gurus ! Sadgurus like Ramana, who are able to liberate you with a glance , are rare and even if you find them , it is only possible , if you have done your homework ( i.e Sadhana) an are ripe. This ripening process can go over many lifetimes. There are many gurus below the level of a fully realized Sadguru , who can help you to take the next step of your journey home, to your true self. So you must never be proud , to bow down your head before a more advanced Soul than yourself, even if he or she may not be a fully realized Sadguru.

Oh my God! Sri Ramana Maharshi, how deep, how profound his very being is- he doesn't even have to say anything! I find a few Masters on this similar level reveal the "One", looking out through different eyes of the Masters and whenever I am "imbibing "them, I feel I see/feel the highest for only Him...then the "other" Master, the same thing!

@@rocky821 There is a firm belief in spiritual practicers , that you don't go finding your Guru . Guru finds you , when you are ready . Till then follow their guidance , strive for mind purification . For many people meditation is difficult , for them name chanting is the easy way . Even though it seems easy , it's likely that you wouldn't want to practice it or practice it regularly .. That's the trick here .. Every single chanting takes you near your Guru , without Guru's blessings you can't do even chanting .. So you have to believe the Guru is making you do the chanting . Shreeram or Shreelrishna , choose any name of God of your liking .. But pray to Guru first to help you . If you can attain consistency in chanting , it means Guru has accepted you .

It appears that states of awakening and enlightenment are often misconceived. Awaking to Self happens often, Enlightenment is merging with Self and no more seeking is needed. What beloved Papaji has described has happened to me, but I would not consider this state as enlightenment, rather as deep awakening to the Self where what you consider your body, your emotions, thoughts, consciousness becomes obsolete and Life just takes over and starts purifying your own being through activation of Kundalini and its influx both from above (forehead and fontanel) as well upward through coccyx. It’s beyond words, it’s the most real thing, and it’s what you have been craving your whole life looking outwards. And this is just a drop in the ocean that Self is

Muktananda is fully absorbed never to come back but nityananda is like babaji they can come back anytime or even appear and disappear to real jenuine devotees .nityananda always appear in all his ashrams at many places all at once .you have to have your spiritual eyes opened to see him .siddhas are around the ashram all the time .de devotees see them

You don't need japa reading or meditation you are that always and these are spiritual egos notice gurus practice this and that only to come back to the world to serve .they must serve a lifetime to be fully free from karma that is the spiritual law according to satguru from internet gurus have more karma's than us .so the reality is you have to spend a lifetime serving otherwise you have to come back as a realized man to serve. One last time to be everfree from karma .you can reside in the cosmos and come back again if desired yo serve humanity from tome to time and reside in siddha loka .a loka outside of this cosmos

Don't look for it in books church temples chanting meditation or self inquiry or even chasing gurus .you don't need Kundalini awakening .no you are always the self you were born realized .you don't need sat guru avatars or grace neither peace or bliss .you are already that .that's your nature .it's you .muktananda ...kneel to yourself bow to your self honour your self worship yourself for god dwells within you as you .
