@SombreroGato
@SombreroGato 2 года назад
well when she said 14 i realized not middle school by the US terms. In most other countries, Grade school is 1-6, then secondary is 7-9, then high is 10-12/ So she was either in 9th grade or goign into 10th. So it makes slightly more sense age wise.. It's just offputing to people living in the US becuase we have different age groupings and middle school consists of much younger individuals. That being said by the time i entered 11th grade over half the kids in the entire school had alreayd slept around, and this was very late ninties early 00s, so im sure its much much worse now, since enna sounds younger.
@CanuckGod
@CanuckGod 2 года назад
@@SombreroGato True. Assuming this was still Canada (seems likely, since Enna recalls having to stand for/sing the Canadian anthem even in elementary), the split is pretty much as you pointed out, K-6/1-6 being elementary school, 7-9 being junior high and 10-12 being high school in virtually every province. Also, from what you're saying, seems like you're around the same age my younger brother is (I finished high school in 1996, and if my brother had finished school, he'd have graduated in 1999), and with Enna being younger, "experimentation" seems more likely at that time.

@Iridescent_Astraea
@Iridescent_Astraea 2 года назад
Yikes, that is some unfortunately relatable trauma. With these kinds of experiences you learn you have to be straight up and even confrontational if they're saying things that make you uncomfortable. If respecting your boundaries makes them dislike you, then they never deserved your friendship. I had to deal with something similarly in freshman college when I swapped dorms to be with friends, and ended up being placed with two party animals (I was not only introverted but not used to being out of my parents shadow), and literally on my first night, while I'm forced to be top bunk, the guy below me brings in a girl. I was near sleep but then I ended up like Enna, just in panic of "is this actually happening???" and I tell you the moment that frame shook slightly I bolted and ended up sleeping in a study lounge. The two bros acted like I was an asshole for not wanting to drink or hang around them the rest of the year, and I wish I had done more to get away from them (I was never once visited by the RA after moving in, which is usually supposed to happen), and I cannot emphasize how much stress living with them for 6 months did to me, just having them enter the room would immediately set off my fight or flight. That wasn't the end of it either. The other guy would have his girlfriend always sleep in the room to the point she was essentially the 4th (and honestly nicest) roommate, I could never move my bunk because they kept bringing in furniture, say the most obscene things, treated it like an open space for their buddies, and they would regularly throw parties in there. The real kicker came near the end of the year, when they found an apartment and started moving in, and literally during their first party someone got shot (I wish I was joking). Meanwhile I'm out here trying to work my ass off to get somewhere and these jackasses are being beyond stupid. Ultimately, the real damage came in the fact that I became really closed off for the entire year and became stressed and angry in ways I'd never been before, and struggled to really find or enjoy my freedom until later, once I finally made my own friends who I was comfortable sharing experiences with. It's been years since then, but it isn't something exclusive to girls, boys, or even extroverts. It's individuals who lack respect for other's boundaries and are only worried about their immediate interests. Glad to hear that Enna managed to find her own friends she could spend time with who actually respect her boundaries, because once that trust has been decimated once, it becomes really uneasy to build it with new people after. Eventually you learn to grow a bit, and it's easier to stand up for yourself when you aren't trapped by school and other obligations, but my heart goes out to those who have experienced these scenarios, because it hurts you in ways you don't even realize until much later.

On one hand, If they both consented to it and they gave Enna a place to go that was apart, there’s no problem (except that Alice was cheating on her boyfriend), but on the other hand, if I was in Enna’s situation I’d also be traumatized. I think most people who end up on the Vtuber side of the internet, myself included, can relate much more to Enna in this situation than to Sam and Alice. Good on Enna for realizing early on in her life that she didn’t have to force herself to fit in with others when she was uncomfortable, and being happy by herself was just fine. it's with these irl encounters, that I sometimes think I was pretty lucky in my early teens (13-16). My parents are EXTREMELY protective, and for good reason too since I'm really clumsy, and don't know how to stay alive in the real world. But back in those days, I pretty much never got to experience any sleepovers, or just going out with my friends and stuff. And back then, I thought that my parents were too protective, up to the point of me actually feeling pretty suffocated. But now that I'm a little older (early 20s), I realized that my parents protected me BECAUSE these encounters really do happen in real life.

So I was basically stuck for a whole night with the crowd of people I just didn't vibe with at all. That sleepover was, without exaggeration, one of the worst nights of my entire life. First of all, they were blasting their GOD AWFUL cringey rap music all day long, which was just absolute torture. I seriously don't understand why people are so afraid of silence that they'll literally do anything to drown out the noise. Silence is so serene and peaceful, it sucks how few people appreciate. I spent most of the day inside the room whilst they were outside making their ruckus. It was nice while it lasted but eventually everyone came inside the room since it was time to "sleep". They then proceeded to turn off the lights and start grinding on each, dry humping, and vaping. It was super uncomfortable because I was just under the cover of my bedsheets, and I would peek from time to time to watch them. I just felt so out of place. I won't act like I was a clean naive person either. I watched porn almost everyday during my teenagehood. But it was always something I kept to myself. It was disturbing to see my classmates be so comfortable acting that way around each other. At least I thought that, after they had their fun, they would relax and go back to sleep. But they then proceeded to talk for the ENTIRE NIGHT, so I was never able to sleep until the sun rose. They stayed up all night talking about the most boring and mind-numbing shit imaginable. They really were just the most generic and god-awful dialogues I've heard in my entire life. It was as if God himself just gave up and lost all his creativity and let his unmotivated intern write the rest of the story. I really can't complain. I went there willingly, but only because I thought I would be surrounded by a different crowd. I think the most gut-wretching part of that whole ordeal was seeing my crush be so comfortable with the whole thing. I had really grown a liking to her over the course of multiple years since she always seemed like someone different, someone that didn't care about being part of the norm. She was nerdy and geeky and super smart, so of course what loser like wouldn't fall in love with someone like that. It really was a stab in the heart, and it just made me feel alienated from just humanity as a whole. After that I kinda just gave up on relationships, of any kind, for a while. And I'm still kinda stuck in that rut. I just can't really trust anyone anymore, I've decided to just trust myself. It's peaceful for now, but I'll regret it later...

Enna's sleep over was super wild and traumatic for real. I have done several sleepovers and the only topics we talked are just Games, shows, and even criticizing government (For real). Our group also composed of both boys and girls but we have a really clear line in between where us won't cross each other. Well, there were 4 of us and 2 (a guy and a girl) of them in our group were a couple ("WERE") and they hadn't went as deep as Enna's "Old" friends to the point of experimenting, the most they talked with us was "Have you done it yet? If not, we can teach you guys a thing or two" But we are all close enough to know that statement was a joke. Anyway, if anybody suffering from traumatic events like Enna, I am ready to listen because I also have quite numerous traumas in my life as well.

I'm asexual and I relate SO MUCH to this. It's hard when the whole world just - wants those things all the time, and you can't even find it gross (or simply not want it) because "it's normal!". Like, yeah, I know it is, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. Leave me alone. "You're missing out" no, I'm not, get out. I mean, s3x jokes? I love them, it's funny. I joke about s3x all the time. But when it becomes serious I'm so uncomfortable I could literally cry (and it has happened more than once). PS. They're nice guys, but they really need understand that if someone puts up boundaries then they need to respect those boundaries. To this day one of them still doesn't understand this, but I've learned how to deal with him. I happen to be a huge introvert and hate being the center of attention. On top of that I have self-esteem and confidence issues partly due to being bullied for 3 years in middle school because of my weight; and going through puberty around that time certainly didn't help. My experience is also with a "friend" who said we could have a sleepover, i also thought we would just play games, watch movie and eat a bunch of food, but it ended up them inviting a girl and did some very inappropriate things, I'm in the room, on the floor, trying to sleep while screaming on the inside i waited for like hours, for them to finish and pretend i just woke up and needed to pee after i got away from the room i slept in the dark living room idk where the light switch is at so i said "it's this pitch black living room or the room you're from upstairs" i was like "f*ck that, I'm staying here idc anymore if there's a ghost, a monster, or a demon here I'd rather be with them that be in that room". After that we never talked again. Ignored him everytime we see each other.

@blahblahblah1312 I didn't really know what happened i think they just touch each other, i hear wet things and their moaning tho so i don't really know. And the reason we ignore people when this things happened bcuz it gets awkward and introverts hate awkward. It's like we want to listen but we're cringing so hard we want to leave our body behind and just run away as far as possible. It's not like I don't want to tell them what I'm uncomfortable of it's just i feel bad for people that realized that someone saw/hear them doing private or embarrassing stuff it's like i can feel their embarrassment and think that it will leave a bad memory for them, it makes me feel like I did something bad by telling them i heard them every single moan, words, and sound they did. idk maybe it's just me. Maybe the other introverts have different opinions about this.

Honestly, as an introvert, I’m so glad I’m not an extrovert. That kind of dependency on company seems so hard to sustain, it must suck. Plus I think being introverted means you can set up a healthy distance in relationships to avoid burnout.

I just found it so funny that her mom actually thought it was a current trend or something. Good thing she realized that were not her type of friends and made new friends later.

Oh i can easily relate to this. I got so sad so many times when things like these happened to me... makes you feel like the whole world doesnt want you to have your little place of belonging. And Enna has so much personality even though she says shes an introvert. I guess im kinda glad she did find her truth. Maybe she got better than me in emotional stuff, really
