Blue Crab, in this video we'll be setting our blue crab pots (traps) in the St Johns River (in Florida) not far from Lake George.
We never set our traps in this part of the River so we didn't know what to expect.
After letting our Blue Crab traps set for two days we ended up with 15 crabs, less than we had hoped for.
When we got home we steamed the Blue Crabs whole and had a mini crab boil for dinner. Catch & Cook. #cookingbluecrabs #bluecrab #catchingbluecrabs #stjohnsriver

Overnight is the most I have ever done due to the amount of people who rat (steal crabs) your traps. If you can't catch them in that time, the crabs will generally attack each other unless there is something else in the traps that the like. Love some of your recipes. Crab omelette especially.

You're right. You have to watch where you set. The longest we let them set is 3 days, it's according to where we are. Some of the commercial crabbers around here leave them soak for a week, I don't know how they get away with it. Thanks for watching

We have a hard top on the Sea Hunt and a Bimini on the Carolina Skiff that we sometimes use, but it gets in the way sometimes, like shrimping. Thanks again for watching

Hello Sam and Joyce. I took one of your suggestions and used Metal shower Curtin rings but in my ring traps. They work great! Thanks for the tip. Crabbing here in Delaware has really picked up. My last trip last Saturday I caught all 6 and over blue claws. Cant wait to get back out this coming Thursday. Keep the videos coming. AJ

It's Chrysocolla, that's the largest piece we found, we found quite a bit in Arizona. I haven't had a chance to cut it yet. We're also rockhounds and gold prospectors, I make all of Joyce's jewelry. We have too many hobbies, lol. Thanks again for watching our videos

Joyce uses it in crab bisque and other soups. She's in the kitchen now cooking some shrimp we caught, we'll probably have shrimp stock lol. Always nice hearing from you

@@TheOldCoupleOutdoors wow, very cool. i wish my hubby ate seafood with me. he only does alaskan legs or shrimp time to time, but he is not really into blue crab. i did teach him how to eat it, but the last ones he had, like 2 years or so ago, were awful so its been tough to get him back on the “blue crab” train, lol. but i wont give up!

Our place at Suwannee is ok, we had 3 feet of water in the yard, but we're up 5 feet. We have to do some slean up, but we were lucky. Thanks for asking.
