Nonostante la incisione di vecchissima tecnica, ne esce una voce : pastosa, squillante ,bel colore, dizione articolata, musicalita', intonazione perfette, rimane il piu' grande!
I first heard Caruso on an old 78 in 1959 56 years ago now. Whenever i need inspiration as someone else said below i go back to him. No voice has ever been or could ever be like his combining emotion intensity power pathos and poetry into every single note. Toscannini called his voice a miracle and so it was. Requiescat in Pace Maestro of song. You have taught us all how to appreciate the wonderful gift God gave you and that you then gave unto us. You will always be my Hero of Song!!

Vergleichen Sie bitte ab 0:01 oder 2:13 mit/ohne Equalizer-Variation .....wie ein etwas verschwommenes Foto insgesamt schärfer wird; auch an der *Begleitung oder Texten* ('Surrogatparameter') ist der klare differenziertere Klang meist zu erkennen. Warum es sich so verhält, kann man am *Graph* der Funktion, die aus dieser *genauen* ! Regler-Einstellung ( kein preset ) resultiert und eine Crescendo-Verstärkung der hohen Frequenzen zeigt, verstehen: Er erscheint am Display. (Die Anmerkungen sind subjektive Vorschläge nur zum *Anhören* ALTER Aufnahmen.)
Die Wiedergabe schwächelt oft an den qualitativ rel. schlechten Lautsprecherboxen, die meist das schwächste Glied in der Übertragungskette sind. Die "Kette" hat jedoch viele Schwachstellen, die alle bedacht werden wollen..... ⚘⚘⚘😊
The Bracco song with Caruso´s words is among my utter favorite recordings by him. Magnificent brilliant sound here. A perfect transfer. It is also among Mario Lanza´´s and Vladimir Atlantov´s best recordings. The song allows the singer to show off the very best in the voice and a lot of expansion.
Are there other words to this song? I saw some sheet music once with text in both Italian and in the Cyrillic alphabet (Russian??) but since I couldn't read the Cyrillic, I just assumed it was the same because while there was attribution to Caruso's text there was no attribution to another text.
His voice was so perfect in its coordination of beautiful falsetto with a powerful lower register. All natural. Beverly Sills said it best when she described Caruso's voice as having a "go to hell" quality. He always sang open-throated, never covered. All combined with his unequalled sense of the dramatic. Enorme, maravilloso, a pesar de las limitaciones de la grabación acústica ! Me hubiera gustado escucharlo años más tarde con grabaciones eléctricas. Igualmente se puede apreciar la belleza de su timbre y la potencia de su voz.
I also think it would sound like never Caruso Lanza, Caruso is the best operatic tenor in history, only launch Possessed, the grandest voice of all time.
Since we only have the old acoustic recordings of Caruso, it is difficult to know just how he really sounded... at least not as well as those of Lanza which are electronic recordings and are a truer record of how his voice sounded. I don't like to compare Caruso and Lanza because we don't have recordings of each which are true representations of their sound. I think Lanza had a magnificent voice. I also think that Lanza's recording of this same song is one of the best (if not the best) he ever made. Another thing about Lanza's recording: it was made just a short while before his death and right after having suffered two heart attacks (the third one killed him).
карузо!!! это какойто океан звука !!! и это при той записи ! уму непостижимый голос это просто золотая лава расплавленная в бархате.после его пения никого не хочется слушать .не удивительно что и сами лучшие вокалисты мира признавались что карузо недосягаем для них как свет луны
According to Guglielmo Vergine about Caruso's voice in 1892 - he stated “You can't sing. You haven't any voice at all. It sounds like the wind in the shutters…It's like gold at the bottom of the Tiber ... not worth digging for." With much practice and due diligence, that voice teacher was proven wrong. Humility with honesty is so rare nowadays, especially from voice teachers. Nowadays, they are ignorant and either cloying or lecherous. Music deserves better than such degenerate behavior. Either way, a marvelous and moving recording.
