Es una Malagueña grande de Don Antonio Chacón, Enrique las ejecutaba espléndidamente; las malagueñas y las granaínas tienen una línea melódica parecida y ambas derivan después de un proceso de delimitación de los fandangos, pero en sí mismas son estilos diferentes; para ambos palos el cantaor jerezano D. Antonio Chacón (finales del S. XIX y principios del XX) con sus enormes facultades y sabiduría, fue quien terminó de fijarlos e imprimirles una altísima categoría dentro de los llamados estilos libres del flamenco (que no están basados en el compás sino en la melodía). I think the slide at the end of the introduction falseta made it seem like a granaina. It was probably on the 5th string to the 7th fret though. Pepe is playing in Do major/Mi Phrygian as is standard for malaguena. Somehow it's impossible to fully understand flamencology without to be both a singer and dancer and guitarist. There's a malaguena on one of Pepe's albums where he does the accomplishment in the granaina key so some aspects of the singing makes the difference.
