To get metal scraps early, fast travel back to the beginning area with the metal egg/pods, using your pickaxe and break them. Good metal scraps early in game.
The red ground can be walked on when you clear the area of shroud. It's not lava it's some kinda concentrated shroud fungi stuff that replaces where water would normally be. It acts the same as deadly shroud that's higher than your flame level.
It's really good! Been playing survival type games for over a decade now and this is one of the better ones I have come across. Early Access but it feels complete already, can't wait to see where it goes from here!
