Hey I don’t know how common the game is but Wario master of disguise for the original ds would be right up your alley it has zany moments and interesting lore. The game with the monkey stampede gave me nostalgia for it and reminded me of its existence.
@@ArachnidSyther There’s gambling parlors in Japan, because real gambling is illegal. Pachinko parlors and video game parlors. The video game ones are deafening inside, you can’t even speak normally and I can’t say much about the games, they looked simple but fast paced.
I'm pretty sure I heard one of Mr. Peggie's screams in Earthworm Jim (albeit in a slightly lower pitch, specifically in the music for the level "What The Heck?")
Nothing makes me crack up harder than sonic lecturing me in Japanese then jumping in his cop car and driving in circles as crusty Green Hill music plays
We got a snail with a brightly painted shell and six instectile legs. And a human head with a beak. And he attacks by bugging out his eyes a full meter, first his right eye, then his left. He explodes into six differently colored snails and releases rain onto the desert when killed. How do you come up with stuff like that? That's not even the wildest enemy.
It takes place in a country-sized piece of land called "radish land", wherein the flow of time is controlled by a tower, monitored by several people (the guys in blue) 24/7. during the events of the game, the flow of time is threatened, so the town mage sends a child/two children to retrieve the moderators and prevent the flow of time from ceasing altogether.
32:06 i think this is one of those coin op rides for kids like where they get into the plastic car and it jostles around a bit. Basically sit in the car and play the game and the car reacts to you crashing into the car in front of you and stopping at the light. I think that explains why you cant do much in the game cause its scripted to last about that long and its made easy for kids Edit: i hadn't watched to the end i was just guessing but fuckyeah
@@lumppump1182 as much as I love grayfruit's regular videos, whenever I see "edited by Lark" in the description, I know it's going to be a life-changing experience
the "Now I, the boss, fight against you!" is referring to how in the original space invaders the boss is just a big enemy with more health, and it doesn't really fight you
Grayfruit, I am in disbelief that you missed the opportunity to put "the man behind the slaughter" beat drop the moment this purple man came out at 10:40
THIS is the kind of video we need more of on RU-vid. I'm constantly looking for new games to add to my MAME, and every time I try to look up suggestions, it's always stuff I already have. So thank you for expanding my mame library.
Hey grayfruit i am suing as my socks have been knocked right off and into the vat of acid i sit above when watching your videos. They were my favorite socks so i expect financial compensation
17:25. I saw that "dawn is your enemy" once as a kid and thought it was the strangest thing, like a cult ad or something. Thank you so much for referencing it so I could wiki it and solve the mystery. This thing was played on cartoon network to scare kids? Thats the weirdest thing ive ever heard of.
On the off-chance that anyone cares, the weird gate thing in the space invaders game is a torii. The charged shot was a shrine fortune (when it hits the enemy it gives their luck fortune, mostly bad). And from the context of the pilot being a demon-battling shrine maiden of some kind, I'm guessing the light shots were demon sealing talismans. "The it's not likely that" was probably originally something like "masaka", which would be better translated as "No way!", which would make much more sense as a being-defeated comment.
Wondering if anyone else thought the fast bit from the spell first seen at 14:10 was from Tunak Tunak? I've been rewatching it for a while now and theyre /really/ similar! Also: Great vid grayfruit! Always a blast to watch!
grayfruit videos are an otherworldly experience. they absorb you and become your whole world, and yet you retain nothing from them. you look to the clock, and are surprised both that it's already been 2 hours, and that it's only been 2 hours
I hereby claim the following as my own intellectual property: A T-Shirt that says "YIKE" on the front and "Get the time back." on the back. Someone's got to stand up against Burback's Yikes monopoly, and it's going to be PuLiRuLa fans!
You're truly blessing me with those multiple uploads of yours over the last couple of days! You're currently my absolute favorite RU-vidr. Never change, Peggleman.
5:44 Hey no joke? One of the few times I visited Japan, I saw an arcade cabinet of this exact game. I believe it was the last time I visited Chiba when I was 16 years old? Anyways yes it's about as in-depth as I was expecting from it literally just being Rock-Paper-Scissors.
30:00 Also this one: I remember seeing this Sonic game when I was really young in Osaka. I believe it was controlled via a steering wheel, which probably in the emulation was mapped to some *wildly* strange input. I never actually got to play it because parents and money, but I do distinctly remember demos and gameplay of it showing more than just two lanes.
22:24 Am I the only one who's NEVER seen this minigame before? Even though I played Undertale almost as soon as it came out. Genuinely freaked out lmao
