Dude, I'm so happy you're playing and loving these games, especially ones published by Revolver Digital. If you love this, I highly recommend "Katana Zero", "Ape Out", "Carrion", "Gato Roboto", "Ruiner" and especially "The Messenger", since it's like "Ninja Gaiden" but with a great sense of humor.

I always like when you go over newer games and I don't think most people mind one of these from time to time. There's only so many interesting SNES titles, after all. I like Gungeon, but the randomness plays a big part on your success and the continued tries make it drag on at the start of each run a lot (playing it sped up makes it better, at least).

@SmaMan

I'd say I had a much easier time getting over that game's difficulty curve than this. Maybe I'm just generally better at side-scrollers than schmups, but Dead Cells felt a lot more balanced difficulty-wise.

One of the best games I've played and about as rewarding as a Souls game when you finally start to get an edge and turn the tables on the Gungeon. Plus it has pretty much the greatest theme song ever.
@llpBR
@llpBR 2 года назад
I like very much this game... The controls are perfect, it is funny, the action is insane (and very fun) and there is a feeling of progression too. I'd love if the progression curve was shorter to balance the effort you put in and the reward you get. The bullets from the enemies are actually slow and when you get caught you blame just yourself and fell you can try again and again.

@GalaxyCat42
@GalaxyCat42 2 года назад
This is one of my most played games on steam and it's SOOO satisfying to get good at. Once it clicks, you get so much better and the game is actually pretty relaxing. I can just turn my brain off and grab a bunch of guns and obliterate everything. The Bullet is a cool extra character you can unlock whose default weapon operates like the sword in link to the past, so if you're full hp it will shoot a projectile and the melee swing will deflect bullets, making it one of the strongest weapons in the game since it can be used offensively and defensively simultaneously. I need to get back into this game, it's so fucking good.

I too have a friend who is a veteran at this game and it blows my mind. I'm absolutely terrible at the game myself, even though I do love it. Check out Nuclear Throne since you like this one. Cartoony post-apocalyptic dual-stick shooter with a great soundtrack and really fun mutant characters. Very addictive and slightly easier than Gungeon. Thanks for the videos!
@Houldey

If you like gungeon, i'd recommend Dead Estate. I thought gungeon was brilliant - but I just couldn't get around the bullet hell element, it really is just something i've never cared for. Dead estate is similar in most aspects, multiple characters with different stats/abilities, wide selection of weapons, randomly generated maps, and like isaac - a mountain of powerups that can stack and result in absolute chaos.

You know, I think this is the first time in years that I have disagreed with something said on this channel. Not about the fun factor, the game is a real blast. But as far as difficulty is concerned I would put it on the low or middle level for these styles of games. It's far too slow paced to be a consistent challenge, and most attacks give you so much time to react it's makes progress pretty consistent. I'm not saying it's a cakewalk by any stretch, but it's on par with games like Hades or Children of Morta in terms of difficulty. One of my favorite games, but when I think back on my time with it, hard is not the word that springs to mind. It's one of the few games like this where I managed to unlock everything well before I got tired of it. Highly recommend it

I really didn't like this game, and I'm surprised it's so popular. I found it so freaking boring. Every room is the same, there's no puzzles to solve or challenging platforming to clear. There's lots of different enemies sure, but they all operate the same, and battles get monotonous very quickly. Especially since you find so few guns. I've played for several hours so far, and have found only a couple of guns, and none of those were very interesting. So you're basically stuck with the default gun, all of which are boring. Not to mention that the boss battles aren't difficult in a clever manner, they're difficult because of their insanely high HP, and their ability to spam the entire screen with bullets, which you can use Blanks to clear, but you only get a couple of those, so you'll still die despite learning the boss's pattern because you lost the war of attrition with your shit weapon.
@no_nameyouknow

Sounds like you haven't really experienced the game yet. No offense, but it's popular because it has all of the things you say it doesn't, secrets tons of different weapons, tough boss fights that are interesting and unique. Ok, no puzzles but what made you think this was a puzzle game? I'm not saying you will love it, not every game is for everyone, but I like it because it has those things. Also, the moment to moment gameplay is just fun for me. Have a nice day!

This game has some of the best-feeling, most responsive controls I've ever experienced. Playing it on a 240hz refresh rate monitor is absolutely sublime. Personally I think it blows Isaac out of the water just by the sheer number of fun weapons you get to play with- I always found Isaac to be a drag on the first floor until you get some powerups going, whereas in Gungeon a lot of character's starter weapons are fun to use right out of the gate. Eventually you get comfortable enough with the game that it starts to feel like one of the easier roguelikes, and trivial to complete. There are a lot of good items in Gungeon, and many of them can win runs by themselves. I actually miss how difficult the game felt when I first purchased it- definitely one of those 'i wish i could wipe my memory and start it over fresh' games for me personally

Yes! While the game does take a while to reload after a death on the Switch version, the game itself is so smooth, responsive, and is just as short, long, difficult, simple, or deep as you want it to be! Did you know there's a secret exit on the first floor? Well, you can try to find it! After all, that one room IS pretty suspicious.... Or, maybe not. Maybe you just want to barrel through the game. It's up to you!

It looks fun, but one 'retro aesthetic' thing it does i absolutely hate is mixing resolutions and style of graphics. For instance, the bullets are all super high res, but the characters and background aren't? Then there's modern style light sources and gradients overlaid on everything, which just makes the pixel art less appealing to me. It's like they took a lamborgini and then keyed a dick on the door and said, "This looks good". Naw, it don't. THAT SAID, I can ignore that part cause the game does look pretty fun. There's a couple of games that have been taking the bullet hell shmup stuff into twin stick shooter territory and I am absolutely here for it.

I love Enter the Gungeon, but it has the worst Couch Co op I have every seen in a game, they made zero effort to balance the difficulty to accommodate two characters with vastly limited health and resources fighting over the camera, every time I have every played this game with someone else, we never get any new weapons because all the limited keys are being used up to revive them from item chests plus the game doesn't share any thing, so only one person gets a health increase or a weapon, or item while constantly taking cheap hits from off screen enemies because the camera doesn't zoom out more or give you any kind of handicap like Ratchet and Clanks Co-op Tether

I love how the "steamdrunk" intro sounded so confused. As if it was saying, "wait, this isn't a Nintendo or Sega game? What? I don't understand!"

It might look like it to some, but this game very little fake difficulty, you can win with your starter weapon and, if you're good enough, win literally hundreds of runs in a row, as some streamers have proved.

Captain Drachma? I just finished a playthrough of Skies of Arcadia. Your friend has an awesome handle.

Hopefully SNES drunk gets a chance to check out Infernax sometime. That's a pretty damn fun new game that came out earlier this year.

This game is brutally hard and frustrating too if you thought that dying in 1 or 2 hits in sekiro against a boss was bad This is so much worse,each dungeon has at least 3 bosses that keep rotating each time you die (so you Will have to learn their patterns to win)the fact that you get back to square One once you die gets super annoying because you already mastered the previous bosses it's a roguelike so no checkpoints i stopped playing it in the penultimate floor. This game is good but yeah it isn't for everybody

Devoted all his time to videogames. Sucks at video games. ;) Lol I feel your pain. When you have a review channel it's ever harder to become good at 1 game.

Great video, like usual. Have you ever thought about covering this video, based on Akira, that's a Genesis heck? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HPbvtRh2gYk.html

I have like 80 hours into the game and I still have SO many things to unlock. It's a LOT of gameplay for the price of the game.

Bringing back bad memories of The Lich. Bullet hell itself is a difficult floor to get through. Also the music is awesome to go along with the many gun references across video games and pop culture

I’m so glad you made a video on this game. I am constantly trying to hype it up to people to try. Because yes you ARE going to suck at first but with a little patience it’s really fun and rewarding.

Enter the guneon is one favorite games of all time. There is an ABSURD amount amount of variety in the game. 80 hours in and I was still constantly unlocking news guns and items.
