I went to Japan with my class on a school exchange. They held a welcoming ceremony for us too! And while we did the same for when their class visited our school, Japan was just another level. They had their band play and everything, it was super cool!
I love seeing how Americans live & thrive in other countries, and fully adapt to the cultural differences. This video was very pleasant to watch and kept me smiling. The children looked so cute in their uniforms.
I love how mom and dad dont forget to make this time special for Sarah too! Shes the big sis now and thats a huge role to take on! Im so proud of them all and its not even my family 😅
We absolutely love those insights into how things are done in Japan! The formal ceremonies have a certain "gravitas" in them that is very pleasing to watch no doubt! The kids look splendid in their uniforms! Wish all four of them a great start into their new school year!
As adults, we tend to forget about spring events, but it is also an important time to celebrate the growth of children. The fact that April is the start of the year seems to be unique to Japan. Anna and Becca looked so cute in their school uniforms!
Came across your channel randomly. It’s great to see your children move up to the next level but preparations are a headache. I’m Bhutanese but saw my 2 girls go through the same ordeal. Now they have finished their studies and working. Nostalgic memories while watching your children prepare. Lived in Japan for 25 years and now back in my home country.
It's exciting but fun for your kids to prepare various things before school enrollment. If you look at it like this, you can see that Japanese schools cost too much money. However, I think the fact that you have everything and what you have in this way is one of the good things and culture about Japan's differentiation. gan-batte-ne!
Ohh, that randoseru looks sturdy! If there's anything I learned about my few visits to Japan, their Japan-made products are very good and last very long. Also, I saw in NHK that there are shops specializing in recycling randoseru and creating beautiful leather pieces like notebook covers, wallets, etc. Thanks for sharing this and good luck for the new school year!
They're designed to last at least for the whole elementary school years if not more thus costing quite a bit. A few hundred dollars new and some even close to 1000 dollars.
Congratulations for kids' entrance ceremonies! Elder sisters are very pretty with uniforms. Please study hard, find good friends, and enjoy student lives!
Even though I'm Japanese, my education other than the first year of kindergarten was in USA, so I have no recollection of that time as I am in my late 30s, and everything was foreign to me and my wife (non-Japanese) when our first born went through it, and our second child just entered grade school. Initially thought of international because we went through American system, but heck, Japanese school is not bad either. As parents dealing with kids in education system that's foreign to ours, there's so much curiosity, and how we have to prepare for the 入学式 and all of that. The junior high would make us nervous in a couple of years!
very beautiful. its amazing and joyous how fast kids grow, i look forward every friday early morning san diego time between 3 to 4 am to check out your new video. wish it were longer. would be interesting to see your neighborhood and do you and family know your neighbors along your street and how close the rest of your family lives to you. it is all about family and life in japan. thanx for keeping us alive thru each friday. god bless.
Thanks so much. Because of privacy, we don't show our neighbors and the our kids' best friends. But we have great neighbors and get along well with them. It would be very interesting to show, but it's not possible at this point.
My little one also enrolled elementary school. She has enjoyed so much so far. You whole family is inspiring your local society, I am sure. Please continue to have fun here in Japan.
Congratulations to all of you! Watching your videos, I realise these new beginnings are a huge milestone for the parents as well. I have so much respect for you!
Such a beautiful family, always so impressed by how supportive, outgoing and brave everyone is :) Just watching this gives me anxiety to my back to school days at the end of summer, and I was learning in my native English haha just blown away by all this. So cool to learn about Japanese culture through your videos. Would LOVE to see more input about what Junior High is like from the girls as they go along, they are so bright and talented it's so fun to follow and wish them all the best! And all the best to everyone :) Also love that they all walk to school, and up to 45 minutes, so healthy for mind and body :) Blessings to all, thanks for sharing!
Ahh lovely picnic area. As well as the other less traveled spots that seem to have all those beautiful sakura blooms. Life moves fast, I'm glad you get to capture it and share.
Lovely to see your family into Japanese life, not go to American school and practice Japanese… It so amazing!! Thanks to share us your family life in Japan. Take care
I haven’t needed a uniform after elementary school but I remember there was a store just for your local school needs for uniforms and pe clothes etc. I forgot about that until this video. Hectic for sure.
Congratulations Rebecca, Anna, and Joshua! I am japanese but have never gone to a local japanese school so it was really fun to watch! Different back to school video. I really want to watch a video where rebecca and anna just speaks japanese for the entire video! looking forward to it!
3 kids, congratulations! They included Sarah will be complete bilingual speakers. How com TV stations in Japan don’t offer to shoot them on TV programs? Joshua is very cute, Anna and Becca are very cool, “kakkoIi”, “ririshii”. Sarah supports Joshua as a good sister. So nice!
Although two big girls looked like bit a nervous during entrance ceremony of junior school, it should be natural since I also was like the atmosphere of junior school was pretty different from elementary school. Anyway hope girls enjoy junior school through and through! I love Joshua’s ランドセル is bright blue and so cool! All boy’s ランドセル were black one when I was in elementary school.
Japanese school supplise looks very cute! In Canada school supplise I have to say looks plain or boring, and the schools have you bring a tone of supplise in a backpack that feels like bricks on the first day of school. I haven't experienced Japanese school life but looks very fun.
