are you planing to look at the history the jump and smile (the one with compressed air which goes chhh chhhh chhhhh CHHHHHHHH CH CH CH CH CH CH The Jump & Smile is a type of fairground ride in which the chair cars are arranged on a number of radial arms around a central axis. As the central axis rotates, the arms are lifted into the air at pseudo-random intervals giving an erratic jumping motion. There is another version called Techno Jump, which had a specific pattern in which the cars would go up, one at a time, and then shake a little when up. Then the ride would suddenly drop up and down in order, creating the illusion of moving waves and the sound of pistons going "ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch". Also this ride would freeze in midair, making riders think it was over before starting to do the same jumping motion backwards. This ride is popular for most ages.

At 4:42 - The Fly away shown WAS named Alakazam and operated at a UK theme park known as Pleasure Island in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire. I used to operate this ride as I worked at the theme park back in the 2010's. Since the parks closure, it's since been relocated to somewhere in Chile and is now named Superhero.

You guys know about the modified travelling Enterprise type ride in the UK? The 18 two-seater seats face outwards with overhead shoulder restraints. The machine was built by Mitchell's of Skegness England in 1981 as a conventional Enterprise. In 1998, Superides International from England built the replacement gondolas. The modified ride was themed Millennium, now tours as Oxegen owned by the Litliernhurnest family from Manchester.

I've been on a lot of enterprise models, Orbiter and Nightmares @ Canada's Wonderland, Witch's Wheel @ CP and Strates Shows, Screamweaver @ Carowinds, and UFO and Silver Bullet @ SFDL. Silver Bullet is my favorite, it's much more forceful than the other ones despite the "airtime" on it, it never used to do that years ago, also Orbiter was a very fun ride.

Goofy thing about me: I've never been on an Enterprise (hope to hit both a Huss and Schwarzkopf someday), but I HAVE been on a Super-Passat in the states! Back in the 90's, the carnival that services the Montana State Fair (Thomas Carnival) had a Super-Passat themed as Star Ship Alpha for only 1 year. It was pretty cool!

Billings fair or the State Fair in Helena(?) I remember once upon a time at Billings fair in the latter half of the 90's, they had the old school Enterprise with the radial arm/axis the ride would climb. It was a very curious thing, as I was use to the Enterprise we all know and love, like the one in the thumbnail. Anyways, i just felt I should share that haha

I’m glad my ride operating experience predates all the automated electronic controls. Summer of ‘65 I worked at Fair Park in Nashville as lead operator of a Herschel Mad Mouse. Summers of ‘67 and ‘68 I worked at Joyland in Wichita. Being a bit older than most of the crew, I was usually the relief operator, circulating around the park so the others could take breaks. When I wasn’t doing that, I was most often on the big 16 seat Eli Ferris wheel. Joyland had a very old Philadelphia Toboggan wooden coaster, a Tilt-a-Whirl, an Octopus, a large Herschel carousel, a Scrambler, a Rock-o-Plane, a Dodgem bumper cars, a good dark ride, an assortment of Herschel and Hampton kiddy rides, and what I was told was the first Chance C.P.Huntington train.

I loved this ride since a small child! I would love the ones that had airtime and u would slightly slide out your seat upside down. It was scary and thrilling but super fun! And I’ve been on a couple that went backwards. It’s an amazing sensation. All the good rides are disappearing like my other all time favorite, the skydiver! That’s the best Ferris wheel ever. Thankfully the zipper is still holding strong 💪❤️! Chance and Huss make the best rides! 💯

Always fascinated by Enterprise since first seeing it as a child in the 80s and that people were going upside down with no seatbelt! The whole seventies space theme was a fascinating influence, still sounds like a UFO. (I remember seeing a UFO version in the West Midlands Safari Park, England.) I was scared on my first ride at age 12 at my local funfair but once it was going I loved it and still love it. It's such a relaxing ride because there is no lapbar. I want more to be manufactured as it isn't extreme but still a timeless fantastic ride.

1:40 This ride was built by Spanish manufacturer Robles Bouso Atracciones S.A., and the model is called the "UFO." From what little info I could find, at least 3 were built: • One debuted in the Swedish fair circuit in the 1970's (same one featured here). According to an old TPR forum post; as of 2007, this unit now travels around the Polish fair circuit. - themeparkreview.com/forum/topic/21209-scotts-coaster-closet/page/13/ • Another operated at Petticoat Junction in Panama City, Florida until the park's closure in 1984 and was then scrapped. - coasterpedia.net/wiki/UFO_(Petticoat_Junction) •And another debuted at Palace Playland. Later moved around several locations in the UK throughout the 80's but was later scrapped after sitting in storage for a long time. - coasterpedia.net/wiki/UFO_(Rose_Bros.)

In the mid 70's, SF Great Adventure had a Huff Enterprise and I had a scary experience on it. During the ride, when the gondola was experiencing maximum G-force which is when diving upwards from ground level, our gondola started making a horrible creaking/scraping sound! Some of the rivets holding the outer sheet metal casing of the gondola were broken and the whole gondola would twist and separate by at least 1 inch at max G's. When we got off the ride, I reported it to the ride operator and he shrugged his shoulders ... later we walked pass the ride and the gondola was tied closed to riders, there may have been no safety issue with the awful noise but, eventually by the end of the night, the ride was completely shut down. Last time I rode it and thankfully it was removed before the next operating season! It was later replaced with a Schwarzkopf Enterprise III model.

I rode the Mondlift at a traveling fair in Germany back in 2019 and I have never been on any ride like it before or since. Having no seatbelts or restraints and being free to kind of bounce around the gondola was absolutely terrifying and amazing at the same time. I really hope I can find another enterprise to ride one day, and if I’m really lucky, I might come across the Mondlift again and be able to ride it now knowing more about it.

Maybe they thought bringing it straight up at a 90 degree angle would make the thing topple over or something, ha. but yup I agree with your comment. Also, just as soon it reached it's maximum peak it would start coming down, very slowly. it would never stay up there for more than a second.

It sounds like the ride quirks discussed in the operations section are because the ride doesn't have a computer as we think of them today. The ride doesn't think; it isn't able to go: "here I am, this is what I'm doing." Each button does ONE thing. The auto button doesn't tell the ride to manage itself, it just tells it to do A then B then C then D. If you press the auto off button, it isn't confused, it's doing the one thing auto off was designed for; stopping the sequence, not the ride. Basically, the ride operates like a calculator. If you tell it to do something besides auto-run at any time, it will do that, but then it needs further instruction from you, because nothing is programmed to happen next. The pressure light sounds like it's function is to keep the ride doing exactly what it's doing so that whatever fault happened can be assessed without changing the circumstances. Hitting control is you saying "I know what to do." For instance, if you had low hydraulic pressure; it might be very cold, or you might have a leak. If it's a leak, you may not be able to find the leak when the ride is stopped and the pressure is down. If it's just cold, maybe the ride just doesn't go up all the way until it warms up. If it's leaking, you stop the ride immediately and empty the queue; the ride is then down for repairs. And it's probably a lot like a check engine light where most of the time the problem is just with the computer talking to itself for a second, but the light doesn't go off on it's own.

The first ride I ever went on that went upside-down was the Enterprise at Casino Pier (Seaside Heights, NJ). That one is long gone, as are so many others I've ridden in the past (Six Flags Great Adventure, Morey's Pier [then Mariner's Landing] at Wildwood NJ, Coney Island [that one would regularly go up twice in a single cycle). I haven't been to either Dorney Park or Hersheypark in some time; maybe they each still have one. The only one I know of near me that I regularly see is the other that's part of the Meadowlands State Fair. Sadly, that one requires "no single riders"; I'm hoping my daughter might be tall enough this year (which also assumes there will even BE such a fair; there wasn't one last year, for obvious reasons). Closest I've been on since is "Endeavour" at Coney Island, and I do like that version (and very much appreciate that I can ride alone if need be). Funny enough, I've only ever seen ONE version (at a carnival; I forget which) that had theming to the classic "Star Trek" TV show. Bonus: that one went up twice on a single cycle. I've never seen one run backwards. The idea of one running both ways in a single cycle is *really* crazy to me! (One aside: it's strange to me to see the UFO mentioned in this video, when that ride always gave me the vibe of a Round Up ride. I know why it's included here, but it's still weird to see.)

Instead Greezed Lightnin' went in in 1978 (I was to be called the "Sling Shot") It would have faced the opposite way with ramp over the railroad to get you on the other side of the tracks. Because a Huss Enterprise is driven by hydraulics it's not possible to change the direction. To do so you'll have to change the oil flow. Since there's only one hydraulic pump for the main drive and the lift system. The hydraulic pump only rotates clockwise, so you'll have to change the valve for the main drive from a 2-way to a 3-way valve to get a cw or ccw-direction

Sad that both Knott's and Magic Mountain had Enterprises and lost them long ago, though I rode both. The Knott's "Loop Trainer Flying Machine" in the Roaring 20s Airfield themed area was superior, with a better integration of theme and a longer ride cycle. The Magic Mountain Enterprise (named "Enterprise") went vertical and immediately descended, while the Knott's ride stayed vertical for a good amount of time. In its place is a 250' drop tower, but I think I'd really prefer to still have the Loop Trainer spinning in that spot.

Excellent video! I was wishing that a video of one of my favorite rides came out in details on the history and the operation of this ride. Another flat ride U would like to see is the chance Turbo, which is also an old extremely rare ride.

The reason for replacing the original gondolas on "Enterprise 1" with gondolas of the company Reverchon was a damage on the ride caused by fire. It was the showmans decision to do so, it was not a cooperation between Schwarzkopf and Reverchon!

I rode one Enterprise in Freizeitland Geiselwind (Germany). Originally it was a travelling modell (I think it´s a Huss Enterprise, but i´m not sure) and I think this one actually runs on a diesel generator. Also, the base isn´t open in its center but completeley closed.

Robles Bouso Atracciones, spanish manufacturer, made several enterprise of various sizes. Similar to those of huss, he also made at least two schwarzkopf's under license and at least two small ones called skylabs , one of them still works at fairs in Spain. There is still much to investigate ... and Spanish manufacturers are despised too much in the history of attractions.

Oh really? I haven't been to Valleyfair in years, but I grew up going there in the 80s and 90s. Since the Enterprise was right inside the gates, it was always my first ride of the day. I loved it, it was my favorite flat ride. Sad to hear that it's gone.

Great video! I personally prefer the Schwarzkopf Enterprise over the HUSS version, because it feels faster and more forceful - I rode the one at Slagharen (Netherlands). Man, this is a beast of a ride - the massive sound is really impressing! But I also like the HUSS rides, I rode the ones at Freizeitland Geiselwind (now removed), Walibi Holland, the "Enterprise" of Swiss showman Buser and "Mondlift" on the German fair circuit. The latter was the best one of these, it had the longest cycle and even provided the opportunity to ride it backwards - which was a really unusual experience! And I also rode an UFO, "Alpha 1" by German showman Peeters, which was different than the traditional Enterprise, but also a lot of fun! I do hope that at least some of this rides will stick around in the future, I really enjoy them!
