Enthronement of Morong Rinpoche Yangsey, Trulku Sonam Tenzin Chophel
On the auspicious day of the 2nd day of the 3rd Bhutanese month of the Water Female Rabbit Year, corresponding to 22nd April 2023, His Eminence Trulku Sonam Tenzin Choephel was enthroned as the Yangsi of Morong Rinpoche, by Namdroling Monastery in Mysore in Karnataka, India. This was in accordance with the recognition conferred to Trulku Sonam Tenzin Choephel as the Yangsey of Morong Rinpoche in 2019 by the late His Holiness the Fourth Dodrupchen Rinpoche of Sikkim, India.
The enthronement coincided with the certification and solemnization of 207 Khenpos (the eighth batch), 73 Khenmos (the first batch), and 12 Dorje Lopons by the Monastery. The event was presided by His Holiness Karma Kuchen Rinpoche, Namdroling chiefs Chogtrul Gyangkhang Rinpoche and Chogtrul Mugsang Kuchen Rinpoche, Khenchen Namdrol Tsering Rinpoche, and Khenchen Tsewang Gyatso Rinpoche.
HE Trulku Sonam Tenzin Choephel was honored to lead the convocation of the awardees at the enthronement ceremony which started with the grand prayer ceremony with a feast offering after opening the sacred mandala of Longchen Nyinthik Rigzin Dupa. In the afternoon, HH Karma Kuchen Rinpoche bestowed a profound long-life empowerment to all who gathered for this event, including both the ordained and lay devotees. The ceremony ended successfully after the offering of a mandala to Rinpoche by the sangha of Namdroling and the members of various dharma centres and organizations. HE Trulku Sonam Tenzin Choephel also offered Ku Sung Mendrel to Rinpoche.
Thri-Dhar ceremony of H.E. Morong Rinpoche Yangsi Sonam Tenzin Choephel being enthroned as the incarnation of Morong Rinpoche was held at Paro on 30 April 2023. Many well-wishers and devotees attended the ceremony to offer Ku-Sung Mendrel and Khadhar to Yangsi. The event marked the continuity of the journey for HE Yangsi to pursue the great studies of Dharma for the benefit of all sentient beings.
On May 7th, 2023, Bhutanese well-wishers and devotees in Perth, Australia, gathered to offer Thridhar to celebrate the solemnization of H.E. Morong Rinpoche Yangsi Sonam Tenzin Choephel as the reincarnation of Morong Rinpoche, Thukten Wangdi, of Gadhen Choetse Goenpa at Morong, Samdrup Jongkhar, Bhutan. The solemnization was conferred to Yangsi by Namdroling Monastery at Bylakuppe, Mysore, India (seat of Kyabjé Drubwang Padma Norbu Rinpoche, popularly known as Penor Rinpoche).
