Early in-person voting is officially underway in three states. NBC News’ Ryan Nobles reports from a polling place in Virginia. Also, Minnesota Secretary of State Steven Simon joins Chris Jansing to share why he’s “cautiously optimistic” for a low-drama election.

Steve simon was my boss last election season. I just took calls from home to help people find polling places, see if their absentee ballot was accepted etc. After the election MAGA folks called so angry and I got several death threats. It only takes 200k votes in south dakota to get an electoral vote. If it had cali's population, it alone would be worth 220 electoral.votes. voters is south dakota have a 5 to 1 vote over others.
