Have people forgotten the refugee status of Palestinians will go on for generations where their grandchildren will inherit refugee status for generations to come even if they are born here and are Australian citizens and own property. No one else has that privilege. You could say everyone who came to this country post WW2 was a refugee of sorts. Europe was in ruins and it was still being rebuilt back in the 1960s. People didn’t have housing or jobs and had lost everything. So they came here and built the country up. Many people lost all connection with family and culture. No one is crying for them. They too saw friends and family get their limbs blown off in wars and were traumatised but had to shut up and wear it. They were put up in tin sheds in migrant camps and had to find jobs and housing. There was no welfare. That migration often came at a cost we now bury.
