From what I've read they got tired of sitting on their asses, the last Entombed album was 2007, and they wanted to get out write new music and play, but Alex was the one holding out, so L.G. tried to sue Alex for the Entombed name but the courts ruled that the Entombed name belongs to all the original members, so the four guys changed their name to Entombed A.D. and have made two albums since.

If you like Entombed check out Death Breath, Nicke Andersson's new death metal band. They made one full length album and one EP. Nicke wrote the majority of the first four Entombed albums, so it sounds a lot like Entombed.

Brandon Aitchison there were ex members of the band and they couldn't or wouldn't let the band continue to use the original name so they added AD. This was fought in court over the name.

Still trying to get used to the bands changing their names. Entombed is now Entombed A.D., Venom is now Venom Inc and Ghost B.C. is now Ghost. I know it reps how they have evolved. Yet I keep referring to them as the original names.
